《Powerful》Off to the Village, I Guess

“I’m bored,” Phila Dhoor complained to her adopted sisters. She twirled her short purple hair around her finger, her blue eyes piercing menacingly. She always had purple hair when she was bored.
“You’re always bored,” Ellasome Kaze grumbled, rubbing her long, feathered wings. She hadn’t had a chance to stretch them in ages.
“For good reason, we’re doing nothing,” said Sahara Bhadur in a pretzel.
“Yes, for a good reason,” said Phila mocking Sahara by morphing into her. Sahara rolled her eyes at her. “No but seriously, we should do something.”
Sahara got up and fell down in plank form but stopped herself with a pulsing purple forcefield before she reached the ground. “Who wants to try trust falls?”
“The last time you did that I ended up with a bloody nose,” grumbled Phila. “We should venture out to the outside world. When was the last time father let us outside the mansion? 6 years ago! Ever since Vatrahos took over.” She looked at her sisters while growing an extra eye to freak them out.
“Ok Phila, stop,” said Sahara shielding her eyes. Phila sighed as she morphed into a typical teenager and looked out the window.
“Let’s go to the town,” said Phila.
“What if we’re seen by the royal guard? I can go invisibly,” said Sahara sparking her fingers so that they flickered out of sight.
“Ella is the only one we have to worry about,” said Phila. “I’ll use texture as we sneak out.”
“How about I just fly out this window and meet you at the bottom?” asked Ella, who everyone forgot to account for.
“Ok when you get to the bottom make sure you strap up,” said Sahara. Ella pulled on her specially made leather jacket. “Perfect.”

“Shouldn't you and Phila wear a disguise so you’re not caught?” said Sahara, looking at their appearances. In dinner parties, they were too noticeable. Phila’s hair changed with her mood, and sometimes she couldn’t hold an appearance for too long. Ella always needed to itch her wrapped wings, which attracted a lot of attention. Sahara had no problem except when in really bright lights she turned transparent, but not invisible, with shock white hair and orange eyes randomly peering out from a silhouette caused panic.
“Nah I’m fine,” said Phila. “I can control myself. I’ve been practicing.” she playfully sprouted an antenna from her forehead which got disapproving looks.
“Yeah, I’m good too. Leather jackets are totally in fashion!” said Ella. Sahara nodded approvingly.
“Ok, Ella, meet you at the bottom, Phila come with me,” said Sahara. Ella opened the window and jumped out.
“Wait, so why didn’t we ever think to escape before?” Sahara asked.
“We have, don’t you remember? Or did father’s memory wipe affect you? It never affects me,” said Phila.
“Memory wipe?” Sahara asked, confused.
“Oh gosh did he wipe that too?” said Phila shaking her head before acquiring the texture of the bricks behind her. “What didn’t he do?”
“Let us free,” grumbled Sahara vanishing from sight. One of the butlers noticed a disturbance in the carpet where Sahara stepped. Quickly, Phila jumped down from the wall and covered it up. The butler peered at the carpet closely and circled it. Phila tried to hold her shape for as long as she could, but luckily the butler left the room just as she collapsed.
“I thought you could hold your power?” asked Sahara.
“Not when you’re doing a twister pose!” said Phila bent over weird with her head between her legs. “Be more careful!”

The girls finally exited the mansion and met Ella outside.
“Okay, let’s go! I brought some inconspicuous clothing,” said Ella handing them both a leather jacket.
“No thanks,” said Phila, declining. “I’m technically naked anyways.” Ella cringed at the thought of it. She hated being reminded that Phila’s clothes were an illusion.
“Um, no,” said Sahara handing the jacket back to Ella. “That’s your style.” Ella shrugged.
“Off to the village, I guess,” said Ella.

The Crisis on Planet 9
Welcome to the dream colony Planet 9, where the streets are stained by blood and the buildings are filled with human remains. The creatures roaming among the abandoned cars and flying vehicles resemble almost to perfection the mindless cannibalistic zombies born from the fictional nightmares of mankind. The cities were built in the retro style of the 21st century, but the technology of the 24th century is ever present, mostly within the bodies of those mortally challenged monstrosities. After all, what turned them into these things was not an evolved organic virus, an alien disease, or some sort of magical artifact, it was the corrupted and reprogrammed nanobots within their bodies. Originally, they were meant to heal them and help them access the tech around them, but now they were the origin of this disaster. Among the rotting dead and the Nano-Z, as the survivors called them, Kardian Pandora awakens two months after getting bit by one of them. A young teacher at the local Resonance High, foolish and naive in his own way, but now driven by the Sapient AI in the nanobots inside his body to hunt down other Nano-Z and learn how to survive. For now, his only goal is to become strong enough and rejoin his students and fellow colleagues, foolishly hoping to somehow be able to get back to the time when the undead did not rule the streets. Will Kardian be able to survive in this new savage world or will his naive outlook lead him to a dead end? Volume 1 can be bought on Amazon: Resonance High
