《The Silence in the Crowd》Chapter Six

Not afar from our school, there's this street where some of my close friends live. One of them is Eve. Well, let me tell you something about good Old Eve. Well, she's one of my favorite friends 'cause she's not a party pooper, she's always down for fun trips and she can actually accept sarcasm which is very rare here. Anyways, we both went to some small party last night where we drank liquor from three in the afternoon until evening. We were at a house of one of our friends and we all gathered there as a 'squad' and all that shitty-social stuff. But, I gotta enjoy those little moments because, to tell you frankly, these past few weeks were exhausting as hell. It was exam week and we also need to pass all of the required output for the semester and good-gracious, I was tired as a coal miner! And I needed that unwinding because I must help my mind to wander off of something. Boy, the fucking pressure of being alive is such a burden for me, believe me, it is. Especially now that I've got some mental issues with myself. I don't really know how people wreck their minds but, mine just broke and so, it adds the confusion with my anxietyand all sorts. At first, I thought that it was just a small deal, you know, like it's just for a short period of time but, I was fucking wrong. I don't want to speak about it- yet. It's all depressing and I don't want to stress out because of my stupid illness or whatever.
Anyway, speaking of Eve, I kind of forgot my wallet with her last night so, I decided to message her by a chat but, she's not online so I did not bother to have a chat. Besides, I am so, so close to reaching the mall where the bookstore is. Then, I've got an idea. I wanted to invite her to hang around with me after I buy the book in the food court area inside the mall where two of our other friends always hang out. That's a good idea because good Old Eve is a fucking good listener. But, that will be awkward though. Just the two of us? Nah. I already typed the message for her but, I then deleted it. I just changed my mind. Maybe, we could hang out the next time? If there will be another one.

A miracle? I can't feel the skin underneath my feet. It's fucking numb. Oh my God. I see it. I see the mall- I can see the fucking mall! I'm not even tired and the sun wasn't that bright anymore. I look into the almost-empty bottle of my energy drink with great joy. I can already feel the success flowing into my veins. I claimed it already, the small-sense of achievement! For other people, it might be just a 'small-sense' of achievement but for me, wow! It feels great to do this for fuck sake!
I walked a little further, and little more, and more, and finally, I'm here, in front of the mall. Before I went inside, I, of course, wiped-dry the sweat all over my body- boy, how wet the back of my shirt is -and drank the last remaining drops of my drink. This is it. I am so close in the end and I must face it with... without fear.

Draugr Cell //Layer 01-- Investiture:
With the end of the only war to ever reach mainland Australia I found myself living out of a small room in an old military compound that had been handed over to the jurisdiction of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The end of the war, unfortunately, didn't mean the end of hostilities. The terrorism trend that had started back in the early 2000's with the attack on the world trade center over in America, had spread to just about every country on the face of the planet. Over time the constant threat from various groups meant the civilian police force was quickly undermanned, under equipped, and overwhelmed. They were simply unable to respond to the daily threats in any reasonable time frame, and in many situations lacked the both the skills and equipment required to deal with the threats to put them down in a 'safe' and expedient manner. Veterans of the war that were being reintegrated into society however, were just about everywhere, all the time. We have the training and the skills required to deal with just about any threat you care to mention, all we needed was access to the equipment to do so. In a world first, under the new Veterans program, the Australian government had taken the rather controversial step of allowing specifically selected veterans to go armed in public. Sure, with Australian weapons laws being very, very strict there were a number of hurdles to get over first, but that's where the selection part comes in. Tangentially that's actually how I met Brianna, my current partner. We work as ringers in Victory City, I thought being thrown into imptomtu combat operations and risking my life on a daily basis for barely livable wages was excitement enough. Then I met her... it... I don't know. An AI unlike anything else out there has wedged itself into my life and decided it needs to... look after me. What could possibly go wrong? **** This is the first book I have released, and my first entry into a cyberpunk universe. There is minimal drug use, a fair amount of sex, a bit of gory violence, and a sultry AI that has decided the main character needs a harem.

Now, the saga continues as our heroes prepare for a dark invasion in the hollow aftermath of A'lara's unbinding. Deep within the mountain fortress of Sierlyn, the legendary elf Kingard frees the captive empress of Allana. Under the elf's watchful eye, the new Light Master Jorn strives to redeem the stains of his past betrayal. When the unwitting darkmage Haisrir embarks for distant Kholl, he unleashes the gravest threat of all. Divided in purpose and forsaken by prophesy, their fractured band splinters under the burdens of impending war. But looming beyond the eastern horizon, their enemies ready a ghastly armada. Without new portents to guide them, Kingard and his allies face a blind scramble to defend their imperiled empire. Praise for Broken: Exciting, suspenseful, and constantly left me wanting more. I felt a connection with every character that stretched over a very wide range of emotions. I eagerly wait for the next installment. - J.R. The Rules of Dungeoneering
The First Rule of Dungeoneering: This will kill you Sylvester Bayes, the 4th son of a small baron, has suddenly had his head filled with the memories and work of someone who had dedicated their life to memorizing every dungeon they could find and designing a new RPG system. Not about to waste these gifts, Sylvester quickly sets out to get rich quick and discover the reasons behind his sudden knowledge. (Please note, this is dressed up actual play from my testing of a tabletop RPG. It is actually how the game has gone and there is a very real chance that anyone, including Sylvester, could die in any encounter. To help make my job easier I am using dungeons written by other people, which is why I have listed this as a fanfiction. I put links to all of them in the chapters where they are relevant.)

Clean Slate
Humanity ignored the warning and the world came crashing down in a wave of purple madness. Desmond Slattery was one of the few that survived the initial destruction of the apocalypse. He watched from safety as the population mutated and turned on each other. Peaceful animals also transformed into monsters with claws and blood covered fangs. The world became fantasy. But just as they caused death, the changes kept Desmond Slattery alive. Without them he would not have made it through his first civilization ending event. If he wanted to stay alive he was going to have to get stronger. He was going to have to level up, post-apocalyptic RPG style, and there are no extra lives.
