New Beginnings
Four Years Later
------
It was Sunday. My mom dropped me off at my university around 4pm. I was listening to my mom who was discussing and lecturing me about the things I needed to remember. She caught my attention when I heard her mention something about a roommate.
"I thought I had this room all to myself?"
"Don't worry it's only going to be for one year, you're roommate's about to graduate. Just hang in there." She answered
I nodded
"Honey remember to go to orientation tomorrow at eight, okay?"
"Yes mom we have been through this a thousand times already." I smiled
"I know, I'll just miss you so much."
"But I'll visit you next weekend. Don't worry ok?" I gave her a reassuring look
Ever since then it was just the two of us. I was an only child. My dad died early and my mom didn't want to remarry so she's going to be alone in our house.
She hugged me and I hugged her back "Love you."
"Love you too, now get going before you cry and tell me about how I'm all grown up and all that."
We walked back to the car. When she and got in, she rolled down the windows and said goodbye to me. I waved back and I watched her drive away.
I sighed "College life here we go."
------
I went inside the dorm room and saw it had a bathroom and the two sides of the room. Both sides of course had a bed but mine was a little bit different. The left side was taken and it was somewhat messy. Beside the bed was an unorganised desk with a potted plant. The bookshelf was filled with lots of books and again, small potted plans. The walls had polaroids and different kinds of posters sticked to it. On the right, my side, it was empty, waiting to be decorated. My bed was kinda like a bunk bed, but instead of the bottom being a bed it had a desk and a chair.

When I finally unpacked and fixed my things I went outside of the dorm and roamed around. It was a nice day and I wanted to appreciate it. Besides I didn't want to be cooped up in my room on the first day.
Right across of the dorm, there was a cafe. I checked it out and bought dinner.
After I got back my roommate still wasn't there. I ate dinner, took a shower, and went to bed.
------
It was the middle of the night, when I heard someone fumbling their keys outside. I didn't really care who that was whether it was a murderer or a thief, I just wanted to sleep. If it was a murderer then I'll just sleep forever. A bit morbid but whatever.
I saw the silhouette enter the room. It was stumbling and it probably didn't notice me.
This guy is drunk
It went straight to bed and snored loudly. I turned back to the wall.
Maybe that's why his old roommate moved out. I rolled my eyes
------
Morning
I slept horribly, I kept on waking up because of that drunk bastard!
When I got off my my bed, I saw the other side was still empty. Where the hell was this guy?
After I ate breakfast and did my morning routine, I went to campus for my orientation. It hasn't started yet but the room was already filled up with students.
I sat down next to a random guy. I didn't want to be bothered and just get on with orientation until-
"Pssst" he whispered
I looked at him "What?" He had brown tousled hair and hazel eyes.
"Are you a freshman?" He asked
"No shit" Yes I'm not nice if don't get a good sleep, especially when someone's asking a dumb question. I mean really? Are you a freshman? What does he think I'm doing here?

He laughed "I'm Jacob, sorry I just wanted to be-"
A girl beside him that had blue eyes and brown hair put into a bun, interrupted. "Jacob stop bothering him."
"Hey at least I'm being friendly Evie!"
She rolled her eyes and spoke "I should be the one bothering him, he's a cute guy after all. The name's Evie" She winked at me
In return I just gave a cringe and surprised face.
"Pfft, you have no chance with this guy." He paused and asked me "What's your name again?"
"I didn't say it a while ago...my name's Taylor."
"Yeah you don't have a chance with Taylor." Jacob said to Evie
"And why not?" She asked
"He gay"
"Um what?" I muttered
It was when the spokesperson entered the room, so Jacob wasn't able to answer me.
"If you want to talk or hang, let's meet at that restaurant near the mall, around lunch."
"I don't-" Jacob shushed me
"It's starting"
---------
The orientation finished and I didn't have classes until tomorrow. I walked back to the dorm and saw a girl running out of my room crying. I wasn't able to ask who she was.
This is my second day here and my roommate already seemed like a douche.
Before I opened the door, I noticed that my last name along with my roommate's (assuming that its his) were written on a small white board, it hanged from the door knob.
Lowry, Lynch
My full name was Taylor Lynch
When I opened the door, on the left side, I saw a tall guy quickly pulling his pants up. "Oh crap" he muttered
He wore glasses, had a stubble beard, and black hair.
When he pulled his pants up he spoke
"So you're my roommate huh? Sorry you had to see that. You must be Taylor."
I stood there, horrified of who was currently speaking.
He held out his hand in front of me for a handshake and introduced himself. "Hi I'm Jules" he smiled
"Fuck no" was what I could say
