《Hiroto The Cursed Phoenix Mage》Chapter 12: My New Source of Power
Advertisement
Lich is a very powerful demon beast. They are high ranking demon beasts that can summon the dead. A single ranker is enough to take one down however, they have to be careful and not let down their guard. Rankers are people who has also achieved breaking past high rank and ascended to mana masters. For instance, Hiroyuki is also a ranker. This is all good and all but I'm not even a middle ranking mage yet.
The lich started to create fire spells and threw them towards me
I found this surprising because they usually send troops to fight while waiting for an opening to attack.
I rolled out of the way and tried to close the distance between us. Of course, since lich are generally long range dealers, it kept its distance.
The lich continued his attach by sending another five fire spells. I moved towards the right to dodge one, jumped over another, and slid over the rest.
While sliding I created a fire sword and launched it towards its head. Naturally, it dodged by shifting his body slightly.
I teleported to my sword and used it to try and land a clean hit. Instead of hear the sound of bones breaking, I head a loud, irritating sound of two metals clashing against one another. The lich was able to block it with his staff?
The lich continuously made me go on the defensive side even in close quarter combat. Its a long range dealer yet it can fight this well in close range combat?
"What the hell, is this the difference in our power!"
"Am I that weak to the point where I can't even keep up with a lich in close combat?"
Before I could continue this course of thought, the lich lifted his staff and crashed it downwards towards me.
I used my sword and made an attempt to block it. I feel on one knee still trying to block the attack and the ground beneath be started to shatter from the pressure.
I looked towards the right and it was an undead? No, it's a clone of a lich. The way this lich has been fighting was weird since the very beginning.
It launched the attack and it came full steam ahead. I couldn't move or block the god damn attack.
"You really are, a pain in my ass," I said softly.
The attack hits the right side of my body and launches me in the opposite direction. I slammed into the wall staying there, impaled into it.
This entire fight has been weird. A lich usually fights using the undead however, it never used one and instead made clones of himself. Now that I think about it, why is a lich inside a E rank dungeon? That shouldn't be possible unless someone has sealed one inside. Wait, if the lich was sealed inside that means his power is also sealed. Since it's power is sealed it probably only has the power of a middle ranking beast. Of course since it's a seasoned warrior, it's going to be several times stronger that the other demon beast I have faced.
A smirk appeared on my face because I just thought of a plan. A really fucking good plan. Well, even though I will die if I mess up that's the only consequence there is, no biggie. If there is one thing Hiroyuki drilled into my head it's how to catch your opponent off guard. Do you know when your opponents guard is down the most? The moment they think they've won.

I got up from the sorry state I was in and started running around the lich.
I constantly threw long range attacks to confuse it and secretly planted traps everywhere.
After all the preparations were finished, it was now for the final stage. Or better put the hardest stage there is.
I dashed towards the lich and began engaging in battle.
It swung his staff towards me and I slid under to dodge it.
While sliding, I pushed myself off the ground and tried to kick him in the chin.
The lich moved its head dodging however, I wasn't done.
I used its staff and swung my body around it to kick him in the head.
I actually landed the blow which surprised me but, the lich grabbed the collar of my shirt and smashed his on upon mine.
"This damn skeleton is so annoying," I told myself.
"Is that really bones? It feel's like solid metal."
I backed off and held my head that started to bleed.
Before I could recover from the attack it decided to pursue me. It slammed his foot upon my knee making me fall downwards.
While I was falling too my knees, the lich landed an upthrust covered in fire magic right on my stomach. You could see the purple flames fly out my back from the hit.
I was sent upwards and while in the air the lich launched another attach that hit my back straight on.
I hit the roof of the dungeon that completely crushed my back, falling down basically lifeless.
This was the only chance I can win, the chance to end this battle in a single blow.
All the traps I have set up was launched at the same time.
The lich countered them all and had a face briming with pleasure. The face that was filled with excitement and most of all, cockiness.
When I was close the lich started charging up an attack in the palm of it's hand. The ground beneath him started to crumble indicating that it was no ordinary attack.
I was inches away and right on cue, the lich launched his fist towards my stomach. Right when the attack was going to collide, I spun in the air and I was barely able to dodge the attack.
I could feel the heat radiating of the attack but none of that matters. I landed hard on the floor but I can't care about the pain I'm feeling currently.
I charged up the greatest attack I had in my arsenal. The only attack that could deal a finishing blow, Fire Steam. Upon looking at its face, it had a face of surprise.
I made a thrust gesture with my hand towards his stomach. I landed the blow straight and the entire room started shaking. Pieces of rubble started being completely destroyed. An explosion erupted with the lich and I in the center. I let out a large roar even though it did nothing. It just felt like something I should've done.
When the room finally stopped shaking. When the explosion finally subsided, the lich and I was in the center. I looked upwards into the eyes of the enemy. The eyes that was filled with purple fire and upon looking downwards, it had a wicked smile.
I looked at my hand the to the enemy that is completely fine. There was only one word I could say during this time. A word that already had admit defeat.
"Dammit."
The lich grabbed my head, leaped upwards, and slammed up body on the ground. It still had a firm grip of my head and kicked my gut, launching me towards the wall.

After crashing into the wall I just laid there basically life less. Blood was pouring out of my wounds and mouth. Death was inevitable and I knew it very well.
It seems this is the end. I could feel it, the loss of sensation throughout my fingertips. My sight was becoming blurry as time moved on. Although I didn't want to, my eyes slowly started to close. The moment where I stopped breathing, all the sound around be came to an abrupt stop. I had a thought pop up in my mind. That if I could start everything from the beginning again, it could possible change this pitiful death occurring right now.
However, right when I thought I was going to die, my body was being healed. I opened my eyes and it was the lich? What the hell is it planning? When my body was in a decent condition it stopped and began talking surprisingly.
"For a brat that has not even broken pass low rank and be this skilled is rare," the lich stated.
"Seriously, demon beasts can talk," I said softly. "What's your reasoning for keeping me alive."
"I have been stuck here for hundreds of years. I was so close of achieving demon god however, a two man team of rankers took me down, and sealed my away. I want you to become my vessel and allow me too explore the outside world again," the lich explained.
"Hey, you do know that I'm not fifteen yet right," I expressed.
"Yeah, I do but don't worry. I can tell that you already have a demon beast inside of you," the lich exclaimed.
"What? So that really wasn't a dream," I thought.
"It's pretty powerful and there is a way for two demon beasts to share a single vessel," the lich stated.
"It's quite simple actually. The reason why people don't usually get two demon beasts is because as soon as the two sides disagree with one another, the vessel experiences an extraordinary amount of pain. This pain can even lead to death based on the conflict inside the body. However, you don't need to worry because I will convince the beast to share the vessel," the leach offered.
"Will I obtain power," I questioned. "Of course, unimaginable power that people could only dream of."
The lich stuck out his hand, indicating that if I would grab it the contract would be signed. Power, something I desperately needed. If I had power then I wouldn't have lost this fight. If I had power I wouldn't need to depend on the people around me. Most of all, if I had power then my family could still be alive today.
I lifted up my hand oh so gracefully. I reached towards his and I was inches away from touching his finger tips. However, instead of grabbing his hand, I flipped him of and spoke a few words that made him furious.
"Why don't you just kill yourself, you fucking prick."
You could see the fire in his eyes become engulfed in anger. The aura that was surrounding him became fierce and was brimming with negative emotions.
"You dare speak to me like that brat," the lich yelled.
The lich covered his fist in fire magic and thew a punch towards my head. Before the attack could touch me I grabbed its wrist and squeezed it tightly.
It backed off immediately knowing something was wrong. The aura that was emitting out of my body wasn't my own magic. The lich knew that well and an evil, wicked smile appeared on his face.
"Are you seriously trying to forcefully breakthrough," the lich said loudly.
There are two ways someone can breakthrough. The first method that people uses, no, that people should use is mana gathering. There is seven mana points inside the body. One for the head, heart, and lungs. Two for your arms and legs. To breakthrough you need to evenly distribute mana to each of these points and when you want to advance, gather all of the mana from the points into the center of the chest. Then if the body wants to breakthrough, the mana that was gathered in once place is scattered across the body.
Forcefully breaking through is different. Instead of gathering mana into the points, you instantly gather all the mana into the center. Also, the mana doesn't just scatter when your body is ready. It doesn't matter if your body is unhealthy or in top condition, it will forcefully compress the mana in the center, and let it go on a rampage throughout the body. If the body can handle it, you break through. If it cannot however, you instantly die on the spot. This technique makes you several times stronger than someone that uses mana gathering although, there is a ten percent chance you will survive. Of course, there is an exception that I took into account.
I got up from the pitiful position I was in and the aura that was surrounding me was absolutely terrifying. I could feel it, this power isn't all mine. It seems that lich wasn't lying. The ground beneath me started breaking the more I exerted my power. Sorry Bedelia but you are my new source of power. I looked towards the lich and my eyes were completely orange. It was like looking at the sun. Yeah, that bright colorful sun that you should never look at for too long. Even my pupils went from a circle to a long line similar to that of a cat.
"Hey, did you forget that I have a demon beast inside of me," I stated.
"Crap, I totally forgot. If someone has a demon beast inside of them that ten percent chance is changed to fifty," the lich thought.
My aura is far different than it should be. My aura usually has a graceful, beautiful feeling. However, the aura that is being leaked out of my body is the complete opposite. It's a very dark and violent aura that is mixed with a large amount of killing intent.
I took a single step forward and the lich immediately backed off several yards away.
I couldn't help but laugh at the situation. I mean after all, he's scared shitless.
To what looked like a disappearance, the lich was confused.
"Where is he," the lich thought.
Suddenly his right shoulder felt heavy. When the lich looked it was my hand and when it turned his head, oh so slightly towards the left, its eyes locked upon mind.
It couldn't help but flinch in that moment from sheer fear.
"Well then, it's time to make you regret keeping me alive."
