《His Adventure In The Soul World》Chapter 1 : Ignorant Little Stick
Advertisement
It's my first time ever entering the portal of the soul. Before entering, I didn't have a chance to get access to much information about this world. If my memory serves correctly, the landscape of this world of the soul and the earth is the same. The change of the landscape due to natural causes on the earth will also change that in this soul world but the changes on the earth due to humans won't do a thing to this world. Besides, we can't easily destroy the landscape of this soul world as well. It's like a mysterious power is guarding this world from us, the travelers.
Yes, the people who entered this soul world from earth are called travelers.
--- --- --- --- ---
All I can see are the clothing shops. I guess there are more than 20 shops just near the portal
alone. Through the glasses of these shops, I can see the clothes. Almost all of them have one thing in common. Brown. Yes, almost all of them are brown. Shorts, Trousers, T-shirts, sport-shirts, even capes are brown. Some clothes with different coloring are placed separately.
After all, I've been informed I would see them. Still, seeing this surprises me a little bit. I've
heard that the clothes from the earth the early travelers wore disintegrate into particles after some distances away from the portal. Not only clothes, everything except their naked bodies disintegrated.
That's the reason the famous saying "The earlier, the clearer and so do the ignorant" came into existence on traveler's circle. I dare not imagine being naked in front of female travelers.
The case of the thing of thissoul world is more severe. Just after exiting the portal to the earth side, every material from soul world would disintegrate and absorbed back into soul world.
Travelers and locals alike are walking to and fro. The sound of speaking, advertising, quarreling and so on are heard. Many people wears the brown clothes. And I also found some wearing black ones but I don't find other colors.

I entered the nearest shop to buy some clothes to wear. Going to the counter "Hello, I want to buy three sets of clothes and a backpack for the soul world." A little boy about 12 years old comes from the counter and smiles. Showing me the brown clothes, "Hey uncle, these clothes are your type. They would suit you." I was surprised to see a young boy in a place like this. I know there are guards patrolling around the portal's safe zone but the little boy doesn't seem able to defend himself if anything dangerous happens. So, I can't help asking "Hey boy, are you the shopkeeper?" The boy answer "No, My grandpa is. I'm helping him in my holidays. It's boring on earth. Sometimes, grandpa would take me out of the safe zone and go for hunting." Oh, he has his own guardian after all.
"I will take these two sets of brown clothes. Do you have any clothes with different colors?" I asked. Looking at me, the boy answered "Yes, uncle we do have. They are a bit more expensive. But grandpa told me not to sell anything other than brown clothes to newcomers. Are you a newcomer? I haven't seen you around." I think this shop is a bit strange. Why not sell more expensive clothes when they can make more money. I really don't want to wear brown clothes all the time. I said some dishonest words, "No, I'm not a newbie. I've been a traveler for quite some time." The boy
smiled and show the place where clothes with other colors are placed. "Here Uncle, they are twice the price of the brown ones you've bought".
I bought a green shirt and a black short. After all, I don't need luxurious clothing. I'm not going to sit and feel the comfy in this world. I came to become a soul master, and to do a favor to my family.

After changing the clothes, I set forth to begin my very interesting, exciting, wonderful, money-making, treasure-searching, and etc.......adventure.
To keep the privacy of the traveler, the governing body only records their departure and arrival. No other information such as what benefits they get from the soul world. So, after registering my departure, I exits the wall of the safe zone eagerly. And I've finally become a true traveler.
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
I think I've not reached even 500 meters. Suddenly, a big mosquito-mok (moks are the monster of this soul world) rises from the bush near me while buzzing. That was too sudden so I was frightened. I tried to run away. I tried to run back to the safe zone.
Unfortunately, I slipped and fell, hit my head with a hard rock. I feel dizzy and my head hurts.
Because of the mosquito-mok's buzzing, my headache becomes more severe. I think I would faint at any moment and never wake up again. I am rolling on the ground like mad.
At that certain moment, I felt someone is taking my clothes off. I can't care much about that
because of the extreme headache. Then, that person ran away. "Shit, can't they even afford the clothes? It's not even the luxurious clothing the rich wear. Ahh! My headache". After some moments
that person ran away, I no longer hear the buzzing sounds and my head feels better. I immediately
take a brown set out from my backpack and wear it as I don't want to be naked. "Fu*k, that damn
cheap thief" I cursed aloud.
"Who are you calling cheap thief?" a female voice is heard clearly. "You ignorant, worthless, pathetic, shameless, ungrateful idiot. I should have left you die. This way, the world no longer has to
carry an idiot anymore".
What the hell? Why is this woman cursing me that much? I don't even know you, fortysomething woman. I was cursing that cheap thief. What is that supposed to do with her?
"Why are you cursing me? I was not calling you a thief. I was calling to that damn thief who stole my clothing while I was attacked by the mosquitoes. I'm sorry if you think I was cursing you. By the way, did you see someone with stolen clothes on your way here?"
Glaring at me, she shouted "You are the damn thief. You are the incompetence. You are the ignorant small stick."
"What do you mean by small stick? Ahh! Were you peeping what happened here? That's why you think I curse you? You shameless peeping tom"
"You, you, I shouldn't have saved you from those mosquito. You ungrateful moron" she pouted.
Hearing that I was a little startled. "What do you mean by You saved me from the mosquito".
"Yes, you truly are negligent. That's why you dare to wear other colors than brown while being a beginner. You are lucky that I was suspecting you are a young veteran when I see you wear green
shirt and black short. That's why I follow you. And when the mosquitoes came out and you were rolling, I knew you are one of those ignorant newbies. That's why I took of your clothes and threw them somewhere far away. If I haven't done that you would have died from extreme headache".
Hearing that, I was too conflicted whether to apologize her or run away as far as possible from her. Lowering my face, I said "I'm sorry, I… I was ignorant".
"Yes, you are. The earlier, the clearer and so do the ignorant. You are one of those ignorant. Well, you are an ignorant newbie and you didn't mean to say those words to your savior. Let by gone be by gone.
Don't be ignorant again. I'm going", looking at my face then, down at a slow pace, "you little stick".

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.
