《The Royal Mates》Chapter Twelve

~Amorelli~
After flying for a few hours, we arrived at a place called 'Xinjiang'. And to say that it was beautiful was an understatement. This place was gorgeous. The fog over the trees, the beautiful, blue river, the lush green trees, it all looked like a beautiful dream. And I was loving every bit of it. I sighed softly and pat Zinniah's head as she started to descend towards the river. I smelled like freshwater so I knew I could let her drink from the river itself if it looked clean enough. As Zinniah landed, it looked like it was getting more and more beautiful. I smiled widely and got off of her back when she landed. She then changed back into her human form.
"You know, you're heavier than you look," Zinniah complains as she cracks her back. I scoff and then look down at myself. Am I really that heavy?
"Amorelli, I'm joking. You're not fat or heavy, my back just doesn't like me whenever I change forms."
"Then why do you keep doing it?"
"To keep both of us safe," Zinniah said simply and I just looked away, not knowing how to reply. I walked up to the river and looked at it. It looked like the cleanest body of water that I've ever stumbled upon. I cupped my hands in the slow current and started to drink the water. It tasted amazing! I made a small sound of content and continued to drink slowly from the river. Zinniah joined me not too long after and we stopped after a few more swallows of water. We kind of just sat there, enjoying the scenery. I yawned and then all of a sudden I started feeling raindrops. It was about to rain.
"We should get shelter and a fire started. And quick." I said and Zinniah got up and started to get firewood. I had made a little lean-too by the time Zinniah had come back with firewood. I didn't waste any time and started getting the fire ready. By the time the fire was ready, the rain was coming down hard. I made a little roof above where the fire was and Zinniah and I staid underneath the lean-too and the little roof.
"I'm bored," Zinniah complains.
"Me too."
"I also don't know what to talk about." Zinniah is looking at the fire while saying this.
"Well, I for one am hungry," I said, and on cue, my stomach growled. Zinniah and I giggled and looked around. There didn't seem to be any small animals around, but there were berries. However, I couldn't tell the difference if they were poisonous or not.

"I see berries, but they could be poisonous," I said. Zinniah got up, picked a few, and then came back. She laid them out in her hand near the fire so I could see better.
"Oh, I think we picked the very same kind of berries back in India. Remember, we would pick them and then mash them to turn them into a juice?" I asked Zinniah. She shivered but nodded. I picked one up and ate it. I waited a few minutes to see if anything would happen but nothing did. So we picked more and ate them. They were just regular berries and we were very relieved to have found something close by. After a couple of minutes of eating, we heard footsteps. We became very quiet and took off the little roof we made and let the pouring rain put out the fire. We went underneath the lean-too and staid there quietly. We then started to see two pairs of feet and legs. I put my hand over Zinniah's mouth to keep her from breathing too loudly.
"Wǒ fā ore wǒzài tǎ shàng kàn dàole yānwù." (I swore I saw smoke back at the tower)
"Wǒ kěndìng yǒu yān wèi. Suǒyǐ nǐ zhè cì méiyǒu cuò. Yǒurén zài zhèlǐ, wǒmen xūyào zhǎodào tāmen, bìng bǎ tāmen." (Well I definitely smell smoke. So you weren't wrong this time. Someone is out here and we need to find them and bring them in.)
"Hǎo ba, rúguǒ tāmen de huǒ zài zhèlǐ, nàme tāmen bùshì hěn yuǎn." (Well, if their fire was here, then they are not very far at all.)
"Shì de, wǒ xiǎng wǒ zhǎodàole tāmen." (Yeah, and I think I found them.) After they had their little conversation, one of the men turned around and saw us, then the other one turned around. It wasn't that hard to figure out that the guy on the left told the guy on the right that we were behind them. I gulped in fear and held Zinniah close to me. She was practically shaking with fear. The men came closer to us and brought us out roughly from our lean-too. Zinniah let out a small shriek and the man started to speak to me.
"I presume you do not speak Chinese, explain yourself." He said angrily. I gulped and started talking.
"We were trying to make our way to Russia. We need to see the king and queen and the soon-to-be king. Please, it's urgent." I tried begging but they had already started to pull us along.

"No. We can't and won't take any chances. You both will be coming back to the prison where you shall wait until you meet with the Emperor of China, where he shall partake in the decision of your punishment." The man says and we started walking towards this tower. Zinniah and I gave each other a look and I gave her a small look only she understood. We were taken to some sort of prison and were both thrown into the same cell.
"You will be escorted to see the Emperor when he is ready to see you."
"Kay," I said in a boring tone. He left the room and as soon as he had left I turned to Zinniah.
"Okay, turn into something small like a spider or a bug of some sort. And quickly, I hear footsteps again." I said and she nodded. She then turned into, what looks to be a Brazilian Wandering Spider and went into the corner. A man then came in and looked at me. He was very intimidating. However, I kept my head high and looked him dead in the eye.
"Where is the other girl?" His voice boomed.
"Whatever are you talking about?" I asked in a snippy way. He hissed and bared his teeth. Vampires I assumed.
"Vampire," I mumbled.
"Bitch." I heard him mumble and I growled underneath my breath. How dare he treat me with disrespect. I am the princess of the seas. And he will learn not to mess with me one way or another. I looked away and that was when he reached through the bars and made me face him.
"The girl! Where is she!" He bared his teeth and I saw his eyes go red and his fangs grow longer.
"Why do you think I know?" I asked sarcastically.
"Because she was your friend. And if I find her before you tell us, I won't be able to help myself." He licked his fangs and backed away. Then all of a sudden I saw her on his back. She went to his neck carefully and bit him. He screamed in pain and she fled his neck and back up the wall to the corner.
"What did you do to me!" He yelled in pain.
"I didn't do anything!" I said, acting scared about the situation.
"We have to get you to the infirmary!" His friend yelled to him and he was dragged away. They shut the door to the room and I sighed. Zinniah came back into the cell, went to the floor and shifted back to her normal self.
"Now, if they come back in with a higher power, you were here the whole time. Okay?"
"No duh." Zinniah giggled and we waited. About an hour later, two different men came in.
"Alright, lets question that stupid girl to fi-" When he looked over we were sitting next to each other in the cell. They looked at us and then sighed.
"Those idiotic boys were either being blind or messing with us." One guy said to the other.
"Yeah. Now come on, we have better things to do, like figure out where the princess of the Emperor went." After they said that the left the room and it got me thinking for a moment.
Princesses.
India.
They recently got the princess of China.
They had her where we were!
Oh my god! We can use this to get out of here!
"They had her in India! We can use that to get out of here!" I said to Zinniah and she smiled.
"That's good. It's getting cramped in here." I scoffed and sat down on a bench in our cell.
"Do you think he's looking for us?"
"Your mate?"
"Yes."
"Maybe. It's a possibility."
"I hope so..." I mumbled quietly and laid down.

'Kai.'
'Yes, Miss Olivia?'
'They've been taken in by the Chinese government. They won't let them leave.'
'WHAT!'
'Hey, watch your tone with me boy!'
'Sorry... Where is she?'
'Xinjiang, China.'
'Thank you.'
'You're welcome, and be careful.'
'We will.'
"Change of plans! Going to China!"
"What! That's in the opposite direction!" Mac said in astonishment.
"Well, that's where they're being held! Come on!" I yelled in anger. They followed me and we made our way for China.
I'm coming for you Amorelli, I promise.
