《Nightmare》Facing the Fears

I run down the hallway as I see people cowering in fear. I get a sense of fear coming from the hallway. I hear a crash as I see Kroc chasing after something. He runs through a wall chasing after the thing. I run after them but pause looking over to a chest. I run over to it opening it. My.. The Nightmare Cloak. I put it on and the feeling of fear inside me disappears. I run back after them and see Kroc fighting an Infected woman. I pause confused as he tackles it into the ground. The woman disappears and Kroc looks around angry. He looks at me and his eyes have a slight purple tint to them.
“You. You can’t take her away from me again monster!” He charges me and I jump out of the way.
“Kroc! It’s me Zack!” He pauses for a second and throws a table at me. I dodge out of the way. He starts to get bigger and I frown as his skin starts to turn black. I hear a whistle and I look to see Eyes standing in the doorway.
“Get over here!” I run over and slide into the room as Kroc starts to destroy the room. I look at Eyes looking around her.
“You aren’t affected by Wolf?” She shakes her head no.
“I know basically everything. There is nothing I fear.” I see Wart in the corner sobbing. She yells at him. “I am not dead Wart!” Wart doesn’t answer her as she goes to another door. “You need to find Wolf and stop this.” I frown.
“I know that. Where is he?” She frowns trying to concentrate. I quickly see a shadow appear in front of her and stab her with something. It disappears before I can act and she falls to the ground holding her eyes.
“I.. I can’t see.. Anything..” I go to Eyes as she reaches out for me. She feels my face.
“Zack.. I can’t see anything. You need to take off the cloak. That is the only way he will find you. Use the cloak to defeat him.” She falls to the ground crying. I frown stepping out into the hallway. I remove the cloak and drop it to the ground. I barely see a shadow appear in front of me and stab me in the gut. I quickly grab onto it and Wolf appears in front of me. The Wolf I saw back in my vision is totally different now. He has a scar running across his face that cuts it in half. His white hair is gray and long. His once purple eyes are a dark red and he backs away from me.

“Nightmare.. I’ve been.. You’re not Nightmare.” I nod as I hear footsteps come from down the hallway.
“No. I am not.” I grab onto Wolf as the Nightmare Cloak wraps around us. We appear in the house like before as Wolf looks around frantically.
“No. No. NO! We can’t be here!” He runs to the door and runs through it. He reappears in the house as he tackles me. “Do you realize what you’ve done?!” I punch him across the face and throw him off me.
“I don’t know what happened Wolf but it doesn’t have to be the same way.” He gets up and kicks me in the chest sending me back into the wall. He pins me to it and starts to slam me against it. I reach over grabbing a vase knocking it over his head. He takes a few steps back and I tackle him to the ground. I begin to beat his face in. After a few punches, I raise both fists up and slam them down on his chest. I stand up looking at his broken body. I take a step away and I hear him stand up. I frown looking at him.
“You can’t kill fear boy.” I pause seeing Luna stand behind him. He stops turning around, “Luna.. What..” He stops as she grabs him by the throat forcing him to the ground.
“Shh… It’s okay. You’ve finally come home.” I frown getting a sickening pit in my stomach. I rush over pushing Luna off of Wolf. She frowns and screams at me as we reappear in the hallway. Wolf backs away after letting him go. He starts to cough and shrink into a large black wolf. It looks at me snarling and runs through the wall. I shake my head dizzy from the experience.
“What are you doing? Go after him!” I hear someone voice say. I blink for a second and start to run after him. My body seems to be on autopilot. Everytime I blink, I am in a new location chasing after Wolf. I come to in a cave as I see Wolf glaring at me from the back of it. I look around seeing that we are in a totally different region. We are in the mountains. I look at Wolf and slowly walk to him.

“I am not going to hurt you. I am here to help.” Wolf growls at me and I feel him trying to instill fear into me. I briefly see the forms of New God and Answer appear. I push past my fears focusing on Wolf. I walk to him as Wolf turns back into his original form.
“So it’s true. A new Nightmare.” He spits blood onto the ground as I look down at him. “I was his favorite. I did everything for him!” He hits the ground.
“Wolf.. I’m..” He looks up at me.
“Don’t say it. You are just like him! I can see it. You will betray them just like he did many years ago. This time I won’t hide away like last time.” He slowly stands up reaching into his cloak. I frown and almost like instinct, draw my sword slashing him across his chest. He stares at me wide eyed as blood sprays from his wound. The blood covers me as terror fully develops me. I drop the sword going to him. I apply pressure to his chest as he looks at me. Blood trickles from his mouth as a brief smile comes across his face. Flint appears next to me with tears in his eyes.
“Can you deliver a message for me?” I simply nod. I start to say whatever Flint tells me to.
“Wolf.. I am sorry this had to end the way it did. I thought of you like a son and I didn’t want to leave you in your time of need. We will meet again I promise you this..” Wolf slightly smiles and raises up slightly.
“At least you were man enough to finish off the monster he created.” He spits blood into my face going limp. I.. killed someone. I let go of his body falling backwards staring at his body in horror.
“Zack.. He was going to kill you.” I don’t look at Flint continuing to stare at the body. I look away throwing up. I get a terrible thought looking at Flint.
“What did you do..” He frowns standing up.
“I did what I had to. You need to finish things Zack.” I fully stand up my sadness being replaced with rage.
“WHAT DID YOU DO?!?!” He glares slightly at me.
“I took over your body! We can’t lose all the progress I’ve made!” My world gets shattered. The one person I thought could help me . I glare at him as I hear evil Nightmare appear behind me.
“For shame Flint. How could you do the one thing you told all of us not to do.” He puts his arm around me. Flint frowns staring at me. “You know. With me by your side, I could help you get your brother back. Instead of having you do his own plans.” I frown staring at Flint. Flint goes wide eyed and shakes his head no.
“Don’t do this Zack. He will..” I look away from Flint causing him to disappear. Evil Nightmare walks in front of me.
“Good boy. So you want to save your brother?” I slowly nod. “I can do that for you. I just need you take my hand.” He holds his hand out for me. I stare at it emotionless.
“You want to take control of my body don’t you?” He pauses but smiles.
“Yes I do, but only until we save your brother. I have the knowledge and skill to save him easily. Plus I can put in an end to Answer and New God. Let's be real, you could never defeat them.” I think for a few seconds.
“You can’t kill anyone.” He frowns for a second but a smile slowly appears across his face as I shake his hand.
“I wouldn’t dream of it kid.”
