《The Great War: Saturn's Factory》Chapter 13: Footprints

Babina ran through the crowd carrying Jack like all of hell was here.
And to be fair, it was for her.
While most ignored her, even if she was carrying a masked boy who was bleeding from numerous wounds.
They were sure as hell didn't ignore the woman screaming bloody murder as she cut through the crowd.
And that was literal. Juve's cut through every person in her way with extreme power and force. Anyone who even remotely got in her way was subject to a dagger going into their skull.
Blood painted the streets this way and that, mothers screamed in anguish as they held their decapitated children's heads. Fathers screamed as they turned to find their family massacred with no remorse. Babina looked behind her to see Juve's moving ever closer and closer.
Her dagger switching this way and that. Blood painted the entire street as Juve's marched forward with no remorse.
Babina grunted and ducked into an alley. Juve's quickly following as she cried out with merriment.
"So easy to track you. So easy to kill you, I wonder what should I do with your skull?"
Her voice echoed across the alleyway like a gong. Her vocal cords twisting in natural ways as her very voice seemed to crack and fracture.
As Juve's walked through the assorted garbage piles and the places of refuse and turd, a shadow passed over her.
Juve's eyes shot up in sheer surprise as she saw Jack hurl themselves forward, their hands grasping on the edges of the rooftop. His fingers securing themselves as he held on to the roof. To quickly to even consider anything Juve's stopped everything around her.
Her rose's glowing a very bright crimson as she threw herself to the rooftop. Everything quickly resumed as she felt her cell's croak and rip. Her muscles turned and her nerves cracked. But her knife was only inches away from Jack.
That's when Jack fell, his fingertips couldn't hold on and he dropped. Juve's tried to react, but her entire body stopped her, she couldn't pull anything after what she just did.
So she watched Jack's body soar into a pile of trash bags. Helpless to catch and kill her prey.

"Fuck you, you crazy bitch!" Babina yelled with all her might. Juve's twitched her eyes back to see Babina holding a pistol, a Coris no less.
Juve's laughed at the irony. The bang! that rang across the air was like thunder. A bullet shot out of Babina's pistol. Ripping through the air, enclosed in a cover of fire, energy, and gunpowder. The bullet left the gun and soared high.
It smashed into Juve's back with a thunk! The bullet tearing through her back with no remorse. It smashed through her ribs, the bone being ripped out and shooting through her body. It tore through her lungs with a wet tear.
Like used tissues being ripped apart.
Her body lurched as the round came out the other end, tearing a hole through her chest cavity it smashed into the roof she was jumping towards.
With a clang! it lodged itself there.
Juve's body plummeted towards the ground like a metro. Her body crashing into the solid concrete with a solid wet crack! Her body ripped open its head. Spilling out the contents of her cranium onto the cobblestones of MuddenBurg like none other.
It was a solid red soup to Babina's eyes, mesmerizing, though disgusting. Jack's weak groans drew her attention. She lept towards his body, throwing him upon her back as she ran out of the alleyway at breakneck speed.
It would do no good to get caught like this, they would have to be bailed out. People would pay more attention to their country. And the cult wouldn't have their target eliminated.
Babina hoped that they could track some sort of evidence to him. But it wasn't likely. You couldn't examine the genetic material of anyone, so his blood would be useless.
And while they could pull out the 'we're the voice of the government, and he isn't. Who would you believe?' Plenty of people, especially the activists would point towards the government trying to silence dissenters against Vulcan.
Which looked very plausible when it actually was the case and you looked at the cult's connection towards the government.
Babina sighed in annoyance.

Her vision of this job was a classic fem Fatale ending bad guys in fancy balls. Dressing in an alluring dress as she jumped out the window and plummeted towards the ground. Only to be saved by her trusted partner. Waiting for when she finished the job.
Her dreams had been slightly dashed when Jack showed up. He wasn't the sidelined technical genius she could rely on. He was somewhat like her. Wanting to be the main weapon of the assassin duo. And when she truly saw the depraved lengths both her government and the people she fought would go to.
It revealed to her the shades of grey that cloaked the world.
Babina had to get to the hospital quickly. She didn't know the first thing about medical care, and she would rather let someone who knew how to poke a dead body take the blame than her.
Babina mentally slapped herself for calling Jack a dead body. But it was hard to argue against it.
He had taken an entire magazine to the back, been punched and kicked to hell. And from the disturbing way, his bones bent when she felt them, had been attacked with something that influenced the skeleton.
Babina ran towards the hospital with all her might. She could make it by around fifteen minutes at the longest. She had trained herself to run hella long distances in case she didn't have any help in escaping a scene she caused.
Back at the alleyway, Babina had just left. Something stirred.
A police officer investigating the area after he was told the one responsible for the massacre outside had been seen coming here.
He searched through the trash quickly, noticed the splatter of blood and the crimson gore that leaked into a puddle a few feet away. He found a body.
He quickly ran towards it, throwing off any trashbin or waste that was obscuring her features. By god, he wished he hadn't.
A body twisted and torn unlike any other laid before him. Flowers cut and wiggled their way through numerous veins, sucking away the blood. While the face was twisted, the entire head upside down due to the broken neck.
"You can't play with me anymore. I-I-I don't want to anymOre! Please LeavE ME."
Her voice crimped and crackled all the way. the terribleness was too unnerving to describe. It was too far dead to be this, to say this, to know this.
The officer pulled his gun out and fired into the head of the thing, he wouldn't even call it something like a mutated Vat-Born. Those things at least died when you shot them.
This didn't, the grin grew and grew. The roses ripping open the vein bloomed as if nothing had happened. The limbs made of sinew that danced, wait, the limbs of sinew?
The officer was immediately dragged off his feet as the arms coiled around his legs. he screamed for someone to help, anyone. But it was all for not. Before anyone could notice or think to look. The roses lept into the man's throat.
When people checked, they found a truly mutilated body along with a dazed officer they assume had fainted from the horror.
He was checked and given a week of rest by his commanding officer. But his eyes never fully went the same. Though from what was left of the body, the chief assumed that was natural.
That day. A family had their last full dinner.
"We found Officer McKarthies' family in ruin. They have torn apart like a whirlwind of teeth and knives had been summoned and tore the place apart. I can't imagine what sick mind did this, all we found were some of his teeth inside his wife's remains of a face. And some skin outside the garden, where we found the body of one of his little ones. We can't say any further about the bodies cause of how damaged they were. My best guess why this happened, McKarthy saw something he shouldn't have, and before he could tell. He was killed."

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess.
