《blood tax》Chapter 47 Winter Camping (3)

Sonia, whose face was pale from the cold, wanted to get up to take the report from Griffith, but her slender ankles were sore and numb, and she almost fell to her knees as soon as she got up.
Not far away, the eyes of Veronos and several associate professors on duty immediately shifted.
The decision of Minerva's winter camp is not in the hands of professors and associate professors. The leader is the former enemy committee composed of Iseus, Sonia and Fiona. At least formally, the final decision is made by three people after consulting everyone. out. If one of the three is unable to make a decision, one of the alternates will be chosen as a substitute.
Of course, if this were to happen, Sonya's practical class would be over. Each link and procedure is a scoring item.
Galadia was quick-witted, reached out and grabbed the map and report handed by Griffith and handed it to Sonya:
"I think~ Let's all review the report together. The sergeants have more time to prepare before dark. Sonia, I suggest that you read the bill and let everyone vote on it one by one?"
"Aye~!" Everyone heard this sentence, willingly or unwillingly answered in unison, moving their footsteps to gather.
Although there were only 20 Armoured soldiers participating in the camp, and the others were not the patriarchs or agents of their respective families, the credits and the system were designed that way.
In the current situation, the identities of Sonia and the ladies and gentlemen from nobles were set as commanders in wartime. The associate professors headed by Veronos were staring at them not far away, and a few points would be deducted if they were out of line.
"Our... today's... camping plan is as follows."
The cold wind pierced through the gloomy woods, pouring into everyone's collars like knives. Sonia, who was holding the report, felt that it was hard for her to breathe, and her fingers were freezing.
...
A quarter of an hour later, the first-year students who had finished the briefing session hurried into the Watch Fort camp, slapped the snow on their bodies, handed over their jackets to Brownie, and changed into warm indoor clothes. In the time just now, the industrious Brownie and the school workers have cleared an open space in the ruins of Watch Fort, set up a warm tent and started preparing dinner.
A part of the Shutoral began to set up sentries, and built walls and gates of wood at the entrances. The associate professors disappeared from sight and began to arrange the outer guard circle.
The biting cold wind was blocked from the ruins and the trees, the icy ground was covered with thick carpets, the elegant tents were built behind the solid city walls, and the burning brazier was also set up on the road.
This temporary campsite is really warm and comfortable. Steaming coffee and milk were kindly delivered from the kitchen, and everyone could grab a cup and walk to the warm lounge in the palm of their hand.
"Dinner will be half an hour later," Associate Professor Veronos' voice pulled everyone back into the cold winter, "then evening self-study. Professor Lordes will arrive at midnight, if I find anyone slacking before then... "
Griffith took a leave of absence and left the camp, not planning to attend a formal dinner in the camp. He ate two or three bites of the sandwich of bacon, eggs and vegetables he got from the kitchen, took two mouthfuls of hot water, left the warm camp without hesitation, and came to the edge of the rock in Watch Fort, finishing it before everyone started studying. Camp tour.

"Sir, are your weapons and armor due for maintenance?" a Brownie asked Griffiths.
"No need, I will handle it myself." The apprentice knight waved his hand and dismissed it.
Forget about marching, this camp is too comfortable. Wouldn't it be too slack if you don't even need to do the work of maintaining weapons by yourself? Griffith thought of this could not help but a little anxious and irritable. Although he has not been away from the battlefield for a long time, his comfortable and comfortable life has already made him feel a little rusty. but,He thought about this idea himself, and everyone else thought it was normal. Even a hussar like Lana had already changed into warm robes and was caught by Fiona to go to tutoring.
Although the daily training becomes more painful as the temperature drops, it is possible to change into a clean and warm coat and robe immediately after the training, and return to the fiery fire to eat hearty food; although the course study is overwhelming, but The swords and longbows of apprentice knights do not need to be polished and maintained by themselves.
Such a life is ten thousand times more comfortable than in the army.
Brownie, who had just prepared dinner, neatly stacked everyone's weapons and armor, and then began to wipe and maintain them. Most of the Thutorals welcomed this. Due to the approaching exam, everyone's exercise time has been shortened. According to the opinions of the professors, a fool with a muscle in his head who can't even keep up with the basic courses is not qualified to stay in noble Homonwarts.
The Thutorals entered Homon Watts as non-commissioned officers to study, and when they left the academy a few years later, they would acquire the status of junior officers, marching, commanding, and attending dances and banquets with their monarchs. . For them, many of the non-commissioned officers' jobs are not necessary for future identities.
That's right, a non-commissioned officer and an officer are two different things.
After returning from the distant eastern battlefield, everyone has a new identity and has to adapt to a new world.
Griffith walked around the huge rock and found that although there is no defensive force here, the terrain is very steep, and the school's detection array and small familiars for reconnaissance, foreign monsters and beasts have also been arranged under the cliff. There is no chance of approaching silently at all.
This is camping after all, not a field battle.
Griffith sighed softly. Since he came to Homonwarts, although he still retains the habit of patrolling every night, there is nothing else in the quiet night here except the fragrant flower fragrance and the comfortable sea breeze.
If you can add the company of Miss Elf, it will be perfect.
...
"Good evening, Griffith," Sonia had regained her complexion in the warm tent, and happily greeted Thutoral who opened the tent and got in, "Are you ready for your exam?"
"There is no problem with subjects other than magic courses," Griffith spread his hands helplessly, and walked to the seat wearing heavy armor "bang bang bang".
"You can get your wish now, right?" Galadia mocked him as he entered the tent in heavy armor.
"Then~" Sonia nodded with satisfaction, "Let me see how much you have learned in magic!"
Brownies have prepared comfortable study rooms for students. They picked a few particularly thick walls, and encircled several broad tents with wool blankets along the sheltered walls. The ground was covered with soft and thick blankets, and the gaps in the city walls were dug up to set up stoves.

Although the wind was howling outside, it was as warm as a Homonwarts living room inside.
Outside this temporary library is the ancient city wall and the endless starry sky, far away from the noise from the kitchen and the professor's tent, quiet and comfortable. The pages were turned quietly, as they had been at Homonwarts.
"I'm ready to give up," Griffith stepped forward. "Introduction to Magic can't be practiced, so some theories can't be remembered. With this time, I can get A's in all military command disciplines."
"Don't be so stubborn~ We can review it before the Frost Festival," Sonia pointed to the seat opposite with a smile, "If you lack the basic knowledge of magic, it will be very disadvantageous to encounter spellcaster enemies in the future, I I don't want my knight to be helplessly killed by the dark wizard."
"Sonia is right, and if your grades in Introduction to Magic and Spell-related courses are too poor to prevent you from taking advanced courses in Gold Potions, that's a big loss!" Sit side by side with Griffith Galadia, who was slowly flipping through the Charms textbook, pointed out a point that Griffith couldn't ignore.
The hands of the clock are slowly moving towards midnight, and some students have returned to their tents to go to sleep.
Griffith flipped through the thick "Introduction to Magic" dizzily. Galadia and Sonia, who were sitting beside him, had already left their seats and walked to the sheltered terrace to chat in a low voice with their refreshments. .
"Sir, would you like a cup of coffee?"
Griffith looked up sharply and saw a brownie pixie staring at him with wide eyes. It held a cup of coffee and a small piece of cake in its hands, and looked at the apprentice knight in strong armor with fearful and sincere eyes.
"Thanks," Griffith took the refreshment, swallowing the little cake in one gulp, then drank a bit of bitter coffee.
Gee~ so bitter. Griffith desperately wanted some honey water or milk, and was worried that he would be sleepy after drinking it.
The brownie elf who brought him refreshment held the tray in his arms and looked hesitantly at the apprentice knight sitting on the chair, which was also much taller than it.
"What's the matter?" Griffith asked pleasantly, noticing that Brownie was still standing beside him, "Is something wrong?"
"That's right, Mr. Knight," Brownie said in a low voice, turning the plate in his hand uneasily, summoning up his courage and whispering, "Well, No. 1412 heard that when learning advanced magic, proper rest can be more effective. Quickly understand."
"Oh~ have you learned magic too?" Griffith laughed. "Isn't this illegal for you?"
"If it is magic necessary to serve the master, No. 1412 can learn it."
"Well, you're right, it's not a problem for me to stay here." Griffith nodded to the brownie pixies who were almost the same length, got up and walked to the terrace to greet Sonia and the others. He walked out of the tent to relax.
...
The night wind of the cold night whistled through the shattered city walls. Griffith strolled leisurely along the previous patrol route as he stretched, checking from time to time for traces of bushes and dirt along the cliffs.
After a while, he finally remembered that he hadn't read the letter from Sauron, hurriedly took out the envelope, and looked at a corner sheltered from the wind.
"A briefing from Earls Court.
"Mr. apprentice knight, long time no see, I hope everything goes well with you and miss. The investigation you commissioned me to conduct a few months ago finally got some feedback. I choose to state that a copy of the relevant case file has been retained until you return to Bayeran. Check it out."
"1. Investigation records concerning Isis
"The whereabouts of the apprentice Isis after he left Rudias and where the mage was stationed remains incomplete. Officials have not been able to detect the secret organization to which he and the Cook gang belonged.
"One thing is for sure, however, that Isis once sailed to the town of Baltimore near Homonwarts, where Port Authority records found him stranded for a week."
"Second, the investigation records concerning Cook's gangster Gerlos
"The Cook gang is an ordinary underground gang on Tussock Street, and after searching, it was not found that they had previously participated in activities related to mysterious forces.
"The captured Gerros is a Sequence 9 'weird' of the monster pathway, and his Beyonder characteristics were naturally acquired after birth. Although he cooperated very well with the investigation, the Bureau of Investigation still used veritas and dream spells to repeatedly torture him. , is now insane.
"Repeated investigations confirm that Gerlos and the Cook gang received a substantial advance prior to the operation of the day, without specifying where or to whom the kidnapping was successful. The person who paid the advance claimed he would Visited again, did not leave any information to confirm and verify the identity."
"3. Investigation records concerning Rudias
"Before the incident, Rudias did not show any suspicious behavior, and it seems that his only survival purpose is to stay in the dilapidated mage tower for research.
"However, after examining the documents and research records, the Bureau of Investigation discovered a suspicious point--
"Rudias has no basic data for the adjustment and research of strong orcs. Although he repeatedly mates imprisoned orcs, elves and goblins, and then quickly spawns offspring, his process and data have no standardized records, comparisons and comparisons. Storage, it is difficult to be called an experiment, it is just a simple 'captivity' and 'mating'." His research was a nonsense for a layman, but he unexpectedly got a mature strong orc.
"The above situation comes from the Bureau of Investigation and other departments' notification to the Earl's Palace. In addition, I found that the Bureau of Investigation is still secretly monitoring the former Cook gang member Lahuana.
"Mr. Apprentice Knight, if I was at Homonwarts, I would never let Miss Sonia out of my sight.
"Please be careful.
"Armence Sauron apprentice."
...
That said, the people who made those goblins and corpses were probably from Homonwarts. Even the one who devised the cultivation method of strong orcs came from Homon Watts! After all, Rudias himself has no research ability.
Griffith was shocked, his whole body tense.
Veronos!
He was in charge of the cultivation and training of the familiar, he happened to be nearby when Rudias attacked, and he invited me to do alchemy support! How deliberate! At this moment, he is in the camp of Watch Fort!
It's him! ?

The Last Journey
A slice of life litrpg story... or is it? It's burning slow, though. Moving on: War comes with a great cost. Lives and time wasted for most part. One could either be run with sword, be poisoned, be bowed, and sometimes meet their end with just a tiny speck of wood. With magic, it becomes even more colorful. From lightning, to worse poison, to hovering rocks, to weird bladed leaves, to whipping roots, and to a lot more odd things easily reasoned with magic. A wonderful creation. But once used to something more than wonder, more than tricks to gather laughs, it becomes worse. War becomes worse. For there is not only blood to be spilled. A particular town almost met the same end. Soldiers geared with swrords and bows came with mounts. Horses burning lush grasses as it cracked boulders and the soil alike with every step. The kind that only war ones could ever do. Even strange wheeled creations that oozed danger were towed, loaded with something meant to destroy. But not once had they acted upon what such devices should've done, nor what an an army is supposed to do. Siege never occurred, as much as a command to war. No. Magic existed so a simple little fire is all the worth the town has. No sword drawn, no arrows nocked, nothing. Just some mana spent and through the ash they march. That was how Nudius saw her end. It came not even as a surprise. She didn't have the moment to fully register what occurred before she found herself in an empty dark space. Life lost, time spent. All from a fire that had not even touched her. But she knew very well that it was magic. Something she wished to have and strived for to have. Yet it seemed that none of it would matter now. Nudius was well aware of what the color around meant, of the odd situation, of the unfeeling state of her being. It was death and that was it. She didn't have to worry or dream further. Although there wasn't what she truly wanted in what death to her is, but at least, Nudius was comforted to what she believed death is. Rest. But little did she know there's something more than that empty space. It wasn't only the promise of rest, but was also more than she could ever hope for. Another chance at life. Another chance to dream. ***Tags are there just in case. You never know! Umm... HI-MI-TSU. Story blurb+: This is slow burn, quite slice of life story about a girl learning magic.
