《It's Hard to be a Hero in a Parallel World》1.2 Demons Are Too Scary, I Wanna Go Home!

Part 1
“Alright. I had a great time but I’m gonna call it a night.”
I got up from the table and tried to walk out of the dining hall.
I can’t eat any more, I’m too nervous.
I’m the one that has to go fight those crazy demons.
The weight on my shoulders is too much.
I’m gonna go cry under my blankets just like a little kid.
The knight squad started calling to me.
“Even though the mood is a bit serious, don’t leave now Hero-kun.”
“Yeah Hero-kun you should eat your fill so you can stay strong.”
You idiots!
Just let me get out of here already!
“I’m tired today. I’m ready to head to bed now.”
Heroine-chan grabbed my arm before I could leave.
“Hero-kun. If you’re leaving, let me escort you again. You still don’t know the castle too well.”
“Uh… ok.”
We exited the dining hall.
I’ve escaped that party but what the hell am I gonna do about this dungeon situation?
Am I really in Light World?
Even more so than the regular monsters, the demons in this game are too strong.
How the hell am I supposed to beat it?
…
Man this is awkward.
While everyone else is partying, Heroine-chan and I are just walking in this depressing silence.
I would say something but I’m just so shook.
Heroine-chan saw me staring at her awkwardly.
She broke the silence.
“Hero-kun what’s the matter? You didn’t strike me as the silent type. Don’t tell me that you weren’t happy with the feast.”
“No the feast was great. I’m just thinking about something.”
“... Are you thinking about your home?”
“I guess you can say that.”
I’m actually thinking about how much I wish I were home right now.
If I were still home, I wouldn’t have to go and fight a bunch of scary monsters.
I would be able to play Light World, not have to live in it.
Damn, why did it have to be that game?
Any other game and maybe I could pull it off, but not Light World.
…
Maybe this was all a coincidence.
The hero wasn’t summoned from another world.
He was just a passing adventurer who got caught up with the town’s problems.
Right now I’m in “Ferst Town” but in the game you start out in “First Town.
Things are very similar but the little differences give me the smallest amount of hope.
This girl however, is the most promising.
In Light World, her name is definitely not Heroine-chan.
Hmm… I don’t even remember what her default name was?
I just named her after the girl I liked from school.
“Here we are Hero-kun.”
We reached my room finally.
“Um, Hero-kun before you go to bed, I want to tell you something.”
“What’s up?”
“I personally have a history with the demon army. The demons have caused me much pain in the past so I’m very happy that you decided to help fight against them.”
“... Ok.”
“You said you were thinking about your home country. You must miss all of your loved ones.”
“Yeah. I had to leave behind a few people that were important to me.”

I hope someone takes care of all my collectible figures.
Those cost a lot of money.
“I understand how it feels to miss those close to you. As a thanks for your help, I will try to fill the hole in your heart. It’s a bit embarrassing but all of the guys are back at party so I don’t mind. Let’s um… ”
Huh?
Have I really become this much of a lady killer now that I am a hero?
I understand being nice to me but is this girl really suggesting we do what I’m thinking?
Hehe.
I won’t complain.
“What is it Heroine-chan?”
“Let’s give each other nicknames?”
“What?”
Is something wrong with this girl?
Why would I want to give her a nickname?
Wait… is she asking me to name her character?
Crap!
This really is just like that stupid game.
“You’re troubled about losing your close friends. Even if it's just a little, having a special name for each other will surely bring us closer together. When we’re in the dungeon, any misstep could have grave consequences. You must make sure you have nothing distracting you.”
“Uh… no thanks. I like my name and I think you’re name is fine Heroine-chan.”
“Are you sure Hero-kun?”
“... Yeah. Your name is great. It suits you perfectly.”
She smiled and blushed.
“Thank you Hero-kun. Then I will see you tomorrow. Good night.”
Heroine-chan kissed me on the cheek and then walked away.
…
Man, I really have become a lady killer.
Too bad I won’t be able to use these skills for much longer.
I’m the one about to get killed in this dungeon.
Part 2
“Alright think Hero-kun, think! Is there anyway I can survive this game?”
It was already dark outside as I paced around my room trying to figure out how to fix this dungeon problem.
I looked at my adventurer’s card.
“Now that I think about it, All of my stats are equal to Light World’s Hero in the beginning. They’re all high but they definitely aren’t strong enough right now to beat the upcoming dungeon. And I won’t even be able to level grind before then. Unlike in the game, time is actually passing normally.”
By playing around with my adventurer’s card, I figured out how to use it more.
It worked like the menu from “Light World” minus things like saving and mechanical options.
I looked at my skill tree.
I could see information on a bunch of abilities from the game.
I saw the hero’s signature moves:
The only attack in the hero’s arsenal, and the strongest magic in the game, “Gaia Force”
The spell to instantly warp to anywhere that you have already been, “Teleport”
For some reason, these skills were locked.
Even though I didn’t have the skill points to learn these, I couldn’t even click to see their details.
If only I could use “Teleport” maybe I could just warp back home.
This is so unfair.
“God, this is useless.”
I tossed the adventurer’s card across the room and then fell down onto the bed.
There’s no way out of this.
I’m at such a disadvantage for this dungeon.
I may have hero-like stats but I still don’t know how to fight.

Even if I somehow survive this time, I’ll most likely be in the same situation for every other dungeon.
Plus I know how this game ends.
Even if I make it to the end, it does not end well for me.
I have to avoid the final boss at all costs.
I couldn’t help tearing up.
I wanna go home!
What am I supposed to do?
“I’m destined to die if I go on this journey. You dumbass goddess! Why the hell did you bring me here!”
…
Fine then.
I’ve made my decision!
I’m not gonna sit around and do nothing.
I wiped the tears from my eyes.
“I’m gonna find a way home!”
….
[Everyone, with the news of the demon army and the monsters in the “Magic Mines”, I realized something. I’m not cut out to be the hero you all need. I can’t defeat the demon army. I plan to go home and let a real hero handle this. Heroine-chan, I know this will hurt you the most. If circumstances were different, maybe your love for me could have blossomed into something more, but I’ve made my decision. I'm getting the hell out of here!]
My room was on the third floor.
I removed all the sheets and blankets off the bed and made a makeshift rope out of them.
I’ll use it to make a getaway tonight by climbing out the window.
Next I went to the bathroom.
I don’t want to be recognized once I leave.
“Crap! That hurts so much. Ouch ouch ouch.”
I started sucking my thumb.
I accidentally sliced my finger. (It was the size of a paper cut)
I tried to cut my hair, but it was too hard to do with a knife.
Forget it.
There’s not many people who have seen me, and half of them work with the church.
I’ll just have to avoid them and I’ll be fine.
With that over, my preparations were complete.
Alright, I’ll leave this letter right her on the table for you all.
I stared out the window into the night.
This is it.
I’m gonna find a way home.
“Now then, where did i put the, ahh, OH SHIT!”
My feet got tangled in my blanket rope.
I couldn’t keep my balance.
I fell out the window.
“Aaaaah!”
Part 3
Crash!
“Ouch!”
That was a pretty high fall.
In the real world, I definitely wouldn’t come out of that uninjured.
I guess having decent stats in this world is pretty lucky.
Now that I’ve escaped, there’s no turning back now.
However, I have a bigger problem I have to deal with.
I landed right on top of some random girl.
“Excuse me miss, are you ok?”
Wait what’s this stuff?
I looked at my hand to see it drenched in this red liquid.
It’s coming from the girl.
Oh my god she’s bleeding like crazy.
This is not good.
Forget about getting in trouble for running away.
I’m about to be charged for murder.
“Oh my god! Oh my god! Lady please wake up! Tell me you’re ok.”
Crap!
I started shaking her, hoping she would wake up.
After a bit, her eyes finally opened.
“Ouch, ouch kid you’re hurting my ears.Calm down."
“Don’t tell me to calm down. Look at yourself!”
“Ahh, what the hell!”
“I’m sorry! We gotta get some help!”
“The super expensive wine I saved! You spilled it all over me!”
“Huh?”
This isn’t blood?
I looked beside the girl.
There was a broken bottle on the floor sitting in a puddle of red wine.
“That single bottle was worth a thousand gold!”
What’s wrong with this girl?
Some random guy just fell from the sky on top of her and she’s worried about money?
Whatever it is, at least she’s alright.
“Hey! You broke it so you owe me! Pay up!”
“Uh… sorry I don’t actually have any money!”
“What! I bet your hiding it! Empty your pockets now!”
The girl tried reaching into my clothes to grab whatever she could find.
I pushed her away and stood up.
“Hey what the hell are you doing! I thought you were hurt! I was worried about you!”
“A weakling like you, worrying about me? Don’t make me laugh. I was a bit drunk when you snuck up on me, but now I've sobered up. There’s no way a weakling like you could hurt me now.”
“Stop calling me weak you bitch! You wanna go right now!”
“Sure you dumbass kid. I’ll kick your ass! Hah!”
The girl stood up and tried to lunge at me.
Crack
She fell to the ground and clutched her leg.
So much for not getting hurt now.
“You idiot! You hurt my leg when you fell on me!”
“… Sorry.”
“Get over here so I can kick your ass!”
This girl is an idiot.
I walked over to the girl to see if I could help her out.
At that moment, we saw some lights in the distance.
“Hey! What’s going on over there?”
Crap it’s the city guard!
We were being so loud that they noticed us.
I gotta get out of here or else my escape plan will be ruined.
“It must be that idiot drunk girl! We already told you to go home! Just because it was a special day today, don’t think we’ll keep letting you off easy. You’ll be sitting in a cell when we catch you!”
Idiot drunk girl?
I took another look.
They’re definitely talking about her.
“Welp it looks like you have some company. They’ll be able to fix you up so I’m just gonna go. Good luck!”
“Hey Wait up! Didn’t you hear them! Help me out here! Surely you wouldn’t abandon a beautiful young lady!”
“What? No way! You’re on your own.”
“What! You’re the one who hurt my leg you idiot! Not to mention you ruined my wine! I already told you. You owe me!”
“And I already told you I’m sorry. I gotta go - Wait let go of me you idiot!”
Even with a hurt leg, the girl was able to jump on me and wouldn’t let go.
“There she is! There’s someone else with her too!”
“God dammit!”
I have to run.
I’ve got no choice.
I’m stuck with this idiot.
“Hey get back here you two!”

My Life is Not a Manga, or maybe...
Xavier had a happy, humdrum life: normal friendships, a normal girlfriend, a somewhat oddball family. Until, that is, he literally stumbled through the fourth wall and discovered he was the protagonist of a manga. Now he's scrambling to maintain any semblance of control over his own life in the face of something he never imagined he would need to contend with: the power of the Genre. Hello, E.O. Tenkey here; thank you for your interest in "Not A Manga"! This was my first serial novel, and I hope you enjoy Xavier's predicament! Familiarity with manga not required (though it can't hurt)! I look forward to exploring the bounds of the Genre with you. (First volume is rated PG-13 for comic mayhem and light profanity—these are high school students, after all. Second volume is rated PG-13 to R for some violence and similar levels of profanity. Tags may or may not contain spoilers.)

Here, they live in a world with experience and Levels, Classes and Skills, and they fight against monsters, training for years just to achieve a Level that can allow them to make a small difference. Yet even with this training, it is not enough. The Crystal Adventurers are forced to retreat further and further every year as the Shadow of Life's monsters grow stronger and more numerous, destroying cities at an increasing rate. If the city of Maelnor falls, then it will be less than a year before nearly all of the Crystal Adventurers are wiped out, both those brought to the realm upon death, and those born and raised there. Legends tell of a prophecy that describes a team led by the legendary child of the prophecy, a child whose destiny is not to end the Shadow of Life, but to act as a harbinger, one whose very existence will turn the tides of war, one who must meet three seemingly impossible or currently unheard of criteria before the tides truly change. This is the tale of Team Noruva, which consists of a quiet, yet wise healer, a silent, but thoughtful rogue, a knight with an iron will, a wolf beastborn who gained access to the System, and their leader, who ignores the impossible and does whatever he wants, because why the hell not? This is the tale of their adventures and daily lives, their ups and downs, their struggles, successes, and losses. **REGARDING PoV'S*** There will be 5 total PoV's in this story. However, four of them will take several dozen chapters (beginning Chapter 73) to start happening, with the first two "Books" focusing just on Zack, which is why there's the Multiple PoV's tag on here, even though only one's around at first.
