《Hunters Royale》The Awakening

Why?...
He actually had forgotten to deactivate his system.
And...
For the past 15 minutes...
He has been... 'LEVEL 45'.
....
To reach the mountain top, Jin would have to cover an entire distance of 2 kilometers, all while outrunning a Diamond Tier Hunter.
It would have been impossible...
HONESTLY IMPOSSIBLE.
If it wasn't for his Level 45 legs and speed.
Now that Jin had a jump start and the knowledge of his foe's HEQ... It was a piece of cake.
His legs hurt... Of course, they would.
It was the first time he was going all out with the new power that he still had to comprehend.
It was a miracle to him that he managed to successfully jump past the fence.
Now what he had to do, was to regulate his powers to the maximum he could and run towards the top.
All he had to do was run at a speed that the Diamond Tier Hunter couldn't follow. It didn't have to be Insanely high because Jin knew the hunter behind him was bad at running.
Because the HEQ of the man was 'Wrecking Ball'.
From the name and his actions, it was clear as day to Jin that the hunter leaned more towards Strength and Durability Instead of Speed and Agility.
But Jin didn't underestimate his foe. The strength stat of the hunter... it was what troubled him.
Even though speed mattered while running and covering distance... Strength mattered as well. After all, strength was a universal stat that affects all the other stats.
That meant... Theo can... HE STILL CAN... catch up to him...
with his monstrous jump that is.
Jin had no more time to think.
He bent for a second, before exhorting his leg muscles to act under his will.
And *BOOM*
Jin was running, running at a speed he had never imagined off. It was enough to reach the peak in a minute or two... but what about the hunter behind him.
*BOOOM*
Jin's eyes widened as he heard a dull boom behind him just as he took off into the mountain woods.
The school had long vanished behind him and the trail was visible which led towards the pinnacle. But the air around him seemed to warn him about a threat.
"Shit"
Jin leaped forwards as he heard the air behind him whistle.
*BOOM*
The trail he was running on had cratered into a deep hole which mirrored the strike of a humongous asteroid.
It was undoubtedly... Theo Tremor.
But...
The terrifying impact, in turn, was a blessing in disguise for Jin.

Just as he had leaped out of the way, the sound breaking impact had sent his body flying forwards.
Jin would have tumbled and broken his bones on the landing... If it wasn't for his mastery of Taekwondo.
What made a difference in Taekwondo was absolute balance and pure leg strength which Jin excessively had, All thanks to his dedication to the sport and the Demon Lord's gifts.
He planted his stronger right foot on the trail before taking off into a chain of jumps towards his path. Jin was using the momentum to cover greater distances.
Finally, when he realized that the momentum had zeroed, Jin delivered force to his feet and commenced his run yet again.
There was no news of the Diamond Tier Hunter. Jin guessed that he was probably preparing for another monster jump.
[I'm back brat!!]
The demon's voice bellowed inside him.
"Finally!!"
[I guess I won't have to explain shit to you... Your guesses have been on the mark today]
"I thought so too... I'm not like those 'clichéd dumbheads'... I have the power to think as well"
Jin replied as he proceeded with his run.
...
"We... are here"
Jin panted as he fell on his knees after reaching the top.
The mountain peak was plain. It was as if someone had sliced the conical head perfectly from its place.
*BOOM*
The same repetitive dull boom echoed behind him.
Jin scurried back to his legs as soon as his ears met with the sound lingering in the air.
[Quick Brat!!! Make it quick]
The Demon Lord inside him forced him to maintain his vision.
After running at full speed with his new strength, his stamina which used to be incredibly well for his age had hit its limit.
It didn't make sense because his stamina should have also increased... But it was then he realized it was only plausible if he had an HEQ.
Leveling up without an HEQ would only help in increasing physical stats which the user is in dire need of... and what Jin required to escape from the hunter were Strength and Speed.
So all the stat points he had gained from the leveling up had been deposited to those two stats automatically.
...
Jin shuffled his way towards the awakening center.
The Awakening Centre before him was actually a center that was closed and was pretty old. But the mechanical beings still served until their power ran off.
Even though a human staff won't come to aid him to the awakening, what he needed to activate an HEQ was available here.

And that was the HEQ capsule and a mechanical robot, that will record his data and activate the capsule for him.
"But there's a risk..."
[You don't have to worry about it...]
"Okay then... Looks like I got no other choice"
.....
"Hello welcome... How may I help you?"
The robot greeted Jin who was exhausted as he entered the center.
"I want to activate my HEQ"
Jin replied, making his way towards the capsule and opening it.
"Are you sure?... There's no guarantee that you will activate an HEQ of your desire."
"I am sure!. Just go on with it please..."
Jin replied.
"Okay... I would need your name for the awakening."
"Ji..."
Jin stopped as he was about to mutter.
'No, I can't tell my real name here... The hunter chasing behind me will soon know what I am about to do and can easily find out my identity even if I manage to escape...'
He thought to himself.
'Going with an alias is what I have to do...'
[Quick Wit?... That's impressive]
"The name is... Dem... Demileon (Deh-Mileon)"
"Okay, Demileon. Your name has been noted, please enter the capsule so that I can activate the process to unlock your HEQ"
The Robot replied to his words.
Jin knew what he had to do. He had been preparing for this very day where he would activate his HEQ.
Even though he had plans to activate it automatically as time passed, he had his curiosity get the better of him.
Jin only managed to cool his Intrigue after learning about the procedures of manual activation.
And now, they were bearing fruits for him by saving precious seconds.
Seconds that grasped the very survival of his existence.
*PING*
*PING*
*PING*
*PING*
*PING*
[Here are the levels as promised.]
"Great!!. This could be a big help if I awaken an Origin Class that is... But... haizzz I don't think I can"
Jin stepped on the capsule and closed the door behind him.
It was pitch black, but he knew the lights would show up soon...
"Beginning Activation"
"Please close your eyes for safety"
Jin did as the voice ordered.
Inside his mind, he was imploring the almighty to bestow him with an Origin Class.
[You can't awaken it?? But I Can??...]
"Hmm... I'm not sure how this works, but if hierarchy matters then my parents are both Exotic Classes."
[No No... What I wanted to say is... I think I can activate the Class I want]
"What DO YOU MEAN BY THAT??"
Jin roared inside the capsule, as he forgot his touch with words.
[There's an entire screen before me... It's asking me what I want... And damn, aren't these HEQ's hella interesting...]
"..."
[Look I know it's not believable but don't you worry... I have already selected the best I have before me]
"What the..."
Jin's words stifled as the electrical voice inside the capsule dominated his.
.....
*FLICKER*
"ACTIVATING HEQ"
"IN 3"
"2"
"1"
*RUMBLE*
The entire capsule began trembling as the voice intensified.
Jin's entire body experienced tormenting pain. But he clenched his teeth down in defense.
He couldn't give up at this moment!!.
*RUMBLE*
.....
.....
"ACTIVATION COMPLE.... PLEE... TEE."
.....
.....
The air yet again whistled as a humongous entity smashed itself on the building.
*BOOM*
It was Obvious. The Diamond Tier Hunter... had made his entry.
...
"It's Theo... I think I have found the Demon Possessed Hunter"
The Diamond Tier Hunter jumped out of the crater he just produced inside the Awakening Centre.
Everything had exploded on impact, except for the capsule which was driven into the ground 10 meters away from the hunter.
Theo unhurriedly walked towards the locked capsule.
"Please standby... I think I see the target"
Theo muttered back to his earpiece. He zeroed his distance with his capsule.
.....
.....
.....
He had just put his hands forward as his senses warned him of something.
Within a second and in a swift action, Theo had jumped back the 10 meters he had zeroed.
"What is this supreme aura I sense?"
Theo mumbled to himself, alert of the capsule before him.
Suddenly...
The earpiece in his ears shortcircuited in a flash and he yanked at it in reflex.
It was broken.
The connection between his backup team and him was broken.
*DING*
The capsule ringed.
Theo readied his hands in defense and narrowed his eyes to concentrate. He was ready to jump on whatever he had to face in a moment.
"ACTIVATION COMPLETE"
*OPEN*
Out emerged Jin's chiseled body. He slowly stepped out of the capsule, deciding his steps on the emerging.
....
First came his right foot...
....
Then came his left...
.....
After his feet, his torso greeted the air...
.....
And then came his face...
...
which was draped with his uniform shirt...
....
But through his eyes that were free of the fabric...
.....
Seeped out black demonic aura which sent chills down the Diamond Tier Hunter.
...
"Please Step Out, Hunter Demileon"
....
"The HEQ activation has been a success"
.....
"Activated Class..."
...
"ORIGIN"
...
"Activated HEQ"
....
"The Copy Phantom"

Trickster's Tale
Be careful when demanding reparations from gods. They rarely own up to their mistakes. Instead, she curses him with cowardice, limiting his combat and magical potential. Little does the goddess know that nothing can stand in the way of Perry's sheer will. Trickster's Tale (Book 1): Is That A Lute In Your Pocket will release on Kindle Unlimited on the 10th of May.Due to KU's exclusivity rules, I've had to take most of book 1 down.Book 1 Bard's Ballad takes place in the same extended Universe as my other story, The Houndsman. It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.
