Chapter 6 – Interrogation
David woke up hearing words getting shouted and found himself once again bound, well isn’t this just fantastic, David thought but then realised the voices he heard, he could understand and that they were human, he was ecstatic however knew not to trust them immediately. Quietly he started listening in on the conversation happening near him. “Abe you can’t just talk to some demon that was summoned! It will try to kill you at any possible opportunity!” A tall woman with blonde hair and blue eyes shouted at the man called Abe. “Lilith, it’s clearly different, how many demons have you heard get summoned and then puke and pass out?”.
David hearing this was extremely confused, Demon? What demon? he thought as he looked around to see if he could see anyone else, before focusing back on the black- and grey-haired man and the blond woman talking. “Oh, seems like it has woken up” Abe said as he walked over and cleared his throat, “Abe I’m saying this because I care about you, this is a horrible decision” Lilith said as they walked over to David bound to a wall, chains latched to his left and right wrist.
“I’ll be careful, plus I believe they have enough intelligence to communicate, just different languages is all.” Abe said before Lilith retorted “Communicate? If they wanted to just talk they could have tried communicating with us and trying to overcome the so called “Language barrier” however what do they do? They attack and slaughter thousands of people the moment they come into this world” Lilith clearly had a grudge against demons in some sort of way but David was quite sure.
David watched them walk closer to him, before stopping a couple metres away. Abe walked up and made some noises that reminded him of the sounds the demon had made, David of course was confused as they looked at him as if he was a demon and seemed to assume he could speak the same language as them.

“See? It clearly doesn’t understand what your trying to say, lets just kill it and leave” Lilith said before pointing her sword that reminded David of a katana. “Uh sorry, you are both looking at me like I’m a monster and based on what your saying it seems like your about to kill me. Can you please tell me what the hell is going on?” David said trying to seem calm but was starting to panic.
Abe hearing this immediately had a puzzled look on his face while Lilith turned pale, “I’m s-so sorry but are you human? Or another race like Elf?” Lilith said more politely than her earlier conversation with Abe.
David hearing this was immediately even more confused, “Uh, I am human however, honestly I have no idea where I am or what is going on currently”. David said, Abe seeing all this go down asked David a question, “Sorry but could you tell us who you are, what is with your appearance and why you came out of a ritual which a demonic cult had conducted?”.
David paused for a moment, “Sorry if you don’t mind me asking but what is the name of the world we live on?” David asked catching Abe off guard. “The world is called Cyal” Abe replied regaining his composure while moving into a slightly defensive stance.
So I’m in another world again, David thought and sighed, Lilith who had remained quiet spoke up “Sorry, but please answer the questions.”. David heard this and sighed deeply, “Okay so I’m from a world called Earth, peaceful place, the only sapient species on that world is Human, Elves and demons don’t exists however they do exist in stories.”
David thought for a moment before speaking again, “Anyway, my name is David Acraes, 21 years old, human male, as to why I’m here.” David looked at the people in the room as they stared back with curiosity, “Well I’m not quite sure, one day I go to bed on Earth the next I’m in the middle of a world made of rocky stone and then getting attacked by this dog creature. Then I got saved by a demon, only to find soon enough that my “saviour” was actually saving me so I could be its test subject”.

“Not sure how long has passed since that started, however once I had the opportunity I escaped and killed the demon, skipping over a few things I stepped on a ritual circle and here I am” David said deciding to share as much as possible about the situation since they seemed like reasonable people and didn’t want to get locked up or tortured for answers.
*Changed Perspective: Lilith
This is way too weird, its suspicious. A human just happened to get transported, managed to kill a demon and then make it to this world. Something feels off but I cannot put my finger on it. Lilith stared at David for a short period before looking at Abe who had a curious but wary look on his face. “I’m not sure what to do in this situation, Abe what do you think?” Lilith said sighing before turning her eyes to the man chained to the wall covered in blue blood with two small horns protruding through his black hair. Identify she thought as information came to her head.

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
