《Onyx: The Sovereign Slayer Chronicles》Chapter 47: The Battle Of Ahs’ Vallan

Tigris, Lyo, and Tykal looked at Onyx as he struggled to free himself. The chains did the work in keeping him contained, but he still rattled them all through the night and day.
“I say we kill the bastard, and be done with it.” Said Tykal as she pulled out her pistol.
“Yeah because bullets were so effective at getting the job done.” Quipped Tigris.
“Well what else can we do? If Embry and Azura see him like this…” Lyo began.
“Yeah I know. For now… Shit! For now all we can do is take him back with us and move up the timetable. Guess Azura will have to pay a visit to the Yukingawari sooner rather than later.”
Onyx opened his eyes and saw that he was in the middle of a battle. Hundreds if not thousands of lizards fighting against an innumerable army. He scurried away as the humans, animalists, and lizards fought against each other. Bodies fell in his path as he avoided clubs, spears, and arrows. Soon he was all covered in shadow. It was then that he looked up towards the sky and saw a massive winged creature block the sun with its wings. The creature looked like a dragon only much bigger. It was locked in combat with other beings that used magic to bring the creature down. It was then the ground beneath his feet started to shake. Onyx ran even faster now as the ground cracked. Suddenly the earth split open and scores upon scores of humans, lizards, and animalists fell deep into the bowels of the earth.
Onyx looked around and saw a man that looked less like a man upon closer inspection. His eyes were twice the size of any normal person, his nose was rather pointy, he was bald and had many scars all over his head. To top it all off he had no arms, and despite that several blades levitated around him. Onyx heard a blood chilling howl behind him, and saw a lizard with black scales, two forked horns, spines along its back, and a tail that resembled a spiked mace.

The man stomped one foot on the ground, and suddenly several spears, arrows, and metal blades rose from the ground. All of them aimed at the lizard, then they were launched at full speed. The lizard jumped at the projectiles and howled at them. All the weapons shattered as the lizard landed a few feet away from the man.
The lizard charged at the man as it tried to impale him with its horns. The man jumped backwards as he called upon more weapons from the battlefield to act as a shield. There were at least a dozen swords all circling in formation as they formed a ring around the man. The lizard tossed a corpse to the sword ring only for the corpse to turn into minced meat. The lizard picked up two more and this time it charged at him. It threw both corpses in quick succession as the blood and guts covered the man’s face. The lizard seized the opportunity to punch the man’s gut, and send him flying across the battlefield. The man barreled through lizards, men, and animalists alike as each one was sent flying in multiple directions. The lizard looked up at the massive dragon battling the other monsters. It was snapped out of its thoughts when a projectile moving faster than the speed of sound pierced its torso. The lizard looked at the armless man sprinting towards him as he pulled out the spear, and threw it back at him. The man dodged it, but the spear slingshot around him as it returned to the lizard.
The lizard growled as it sprinted towards the spear. This time the lizard caught it, and instead of throwing it back at him it drove the spear into the ground and used it to jump overhead. Suddenly the lizard grew wings and joined the larger dragon in its fight. The man conjured more weapons from the battlefield, and launched them at the flying lizard. The lizard dodged every single one of them as it neared the dragon. Suddenly the dragon descended as it scorched the battlefield. Thousands upon thousands burned as the dragon strafed across the battlefield. Onyx ran as fast as he could from the flames, but it was all for naught as the flames caught up with him. Onyx cried in agony as his skin burned. He could no longer see as the fire had melted his eyes, the skin on his body peeled off, and suddenly nothing but darkness.

A voice rang in his head. “Awaken.”
Onyx opened his eyes wide as he saw a clear sky. He looked to his sides only to be greeted by the faces of the dead. He stood up and saw the whole battlefield from where he stood. Bodies mangled, twisted, burned, crushed, and cut of course those were just the ones that he could make out. Others were affected by magic, and he could not comprehend what could even do such a thing. As he kept walking he noticed the lizard standing in the middle of the battlefield looking up towards the sky. Onyx grabbed a sword and a pair of knives as he approached the creature. The creature looked at him the it suddenly vanished. Then the lizard appeared in front of him. Suddenly the lizard pierced his torso with its hand.
“Agh!” Onyx cried as the beast lifted him up from his wound.
The lizard growled at him.
Onyx quickly grabbed one of the knives, and stabbed the creature’s arm. The lizard’s hide proved too tough for the blade to pierce through its body.
“What do you want?” Asked Onyx.
The lizard placed its second hand over his head. Onyx could feel its hand crushing his skull. The lizard growled as it tried to separate his skull from his body. Onyx kicked the lizard, but it was all for naught as the lizard separated his head from his body.
“Awaken.”
Onyx opened his eyes wide and saw that he was in the same place again. This time the lizard looked at him from the same spot as before. Onyx decided to run away this time, but the lizard immediately caught up to him. It caught him by the neck. The lizard looked around for a weapon, and picked up a sword. It then sprouted its wings and flew up as high as it could before dropping Onyx. Onyx fell and fell as the lizard bid its time before swooping down, and cutting him in half.
“Awaken.”
Onyx opened his eyes and saw the lizard looking down at him with a spear in its hand.
“Ah shit.” Said Onyx as the lizard drove the spear through his stomach.
The trio of legionnaires looked at Onyx as he howled.
“Shut the fuck up!” Yelled Tykal as she kicked Onyx.
“Kick it again, but this time with more force. That’ll definitely do the job.” Quipped Tigris.
“Well what else can we do? Just look at this shit.”
“Well Tigris?” Asked Lyo.
Tigris sighed as she pinched her nose. “We do… We let Azura and Embry handle it. He won’t be our problem but theirs. We just have to hold on until then.”
“Assuming the bastard doesn’t kill us in our sleep.” Added Tykal.

The protagonist has an inhuman mind and acts on instincts and preferences that are completely different from those of a normal human, and may at times fly in the face of common sense. The general tone is lighthearted, but there are some scenes with disturbing content such as mind control and references to torture. Join our Discord to discuss the novel or chat with the author.

Sustaining the King's Life
On a secluded mountain situated upon a kingdom known as Feuersturm, resides a seemingly trifling cabin with an unlikely duo as its inhabitant—a witch, and her apprentice who presumably comes from a clan sought after by slave traders. Faustina is a sixteen-year-old girl who fled the slave market with the help of a sickly witch named Eula, who later on trained her as an apprentice for the span of seven years. Plagued with a mysterious disease for several years, Eula died despite the efforts Faustina had exerted to cure her; in her last breath, she left an odd request behind. "Sustain the king's life. This is your duty. Do not adhere to the prophecy." To which the odd plea shadowed a bizarre series of events, a consequential sentence, similar to that of a premonition. The same night the phrase was muttered, the chain of events followed: A warlock's intrusion to their home, with a peculiar yearning to resurrect Eula from the dead... and the king himself, asking for Faustina’s aid. ** 1-2 chapters a day (GMT+8) ** (The artwork belongs to me.
