《The Spirit's Golden Era》Chapter 17: The Beginning Part 3.

Back then, The Spirit Lord borne three sons, one died in the battle against evil spirits, while the other reached his prime with power levels 454 before he died in the midst of unfortunate conflicts between clans. His third son had a weaker constitution compared to his older brothers but gifted with a cut and keen mind, ties the family bond between the Vier household and the Garuda Household via marriage.
The little lady of Vier Household, Enora, was 120 at the time. Just like Ellen, who is her daughter. Enora was Vier’s little sister, where Vier was 155. 120 and 155 cycles old were considered young among spirits. A spirit at his prime would be around 1400 cycles old.
They were spirits and have long life span compared to humans in the human world. The discrepancies in time in a human world and the spirit world contributes to the difference in lifetime as well.
The ties were sealed between Toriyoshi’s third son, Torizaki and Lady Enora. They had a child together, who is Ellen. You can guess by now that Ellen is actually Vier’s niece. But the news of Ellen’s birth never reached him, except for Enora’s death, which were full of suspicious elements.
In the first place, it was hard to conceive daughters in the Vier household, and any that was born had always been unique and gifted with special ability. It was pretty certain that was their goal from the beginning, to conceive a special female child in their family bloodline, as well as in the future. Hundreds and thousands of years passed since marriage, Enora finally gave birth to Ellen, gifted with a strong soul and the ability to impart it to others. But what happened afterwards severed the trust between the two families, for a long time.

Ellen refrained from speaking into the details, just the consequence of the incident which lead to Vier’s fury to the former spirit lord. Ultimately, Vier lost most of his family, except few of his confidantes and poweful subordinates that managed to survive the attack. While Vier was plenty strong compared to other spirits of the same level, he was no match to the spirit lord at the time. And thus, it took 120 years for Vier to accumulate his strength to his current power level, gaining subordinates and trusted household members along the way. The Amaterasu household, Riku specifically, took Vier and his few subordinates into his custody after the incident, regretful that he was unable to stop it from happening. Not that he was smart enough to discover his long time friend hidden schemes and agendas, much less the betrayal.
Riku sheltered him and supported Vier in any way he could. Even seeing Vier as his own son. But the one thing that Riku could not appease was Vier's rage and enmity towards the spirit lord. And it was never appeased even after finding happiness with Riku's daughter taking a place in his heart and became Vier's life companion. Vier's boil of rage was halted when his life was occupied with getting stronger, as well as his new family of four which consisted of his wife, and his three sons. But as fate would have it, he lost his wife too, and the dormat avenger spirit inside him sparked once more. And he was determined to see the end of it to free himself from the shackles of hatred that binds him.
Over the years, other households never bothered with him, much credited to the Amaterasu household aside from the fact that the Vier household kept a low profile since the massacre. While Vier may had lived hundreds and thousands of years, he had never so adamantly pursued the pinnacle of strength. Only after what happened did he relentlessly strived for power to defeat the spirit lord and avenge his family. So when Vier found his long lost niece, the only other direct family apart from his sons that shared his blood, his heart couldn’t help but soften, and a knot within his heart that he never knew existed, began to unravel. (A daughter of the Vier household is always cherished strongly). But it was not that easy to remedy his cold persona after so long. Hence the gap in the tender treatment towards Ellen and his direct family, and the cold treatment towards others.

Noli Me Tank in a Mall
Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo are important cultural works that ignited the Philippine Revolution against Spain. They are novels that exposed to the populace the abuses and the injustices of their Spanish colonial rulers, the hypocrisy of their priests, and inherent cruelty of their class structure over the powerless masses. Unfortunately, they rose up in the middle of the Spanish-American War, one which saw Spain lose most of their overseas colonies and decisively end as a World Power. The war ended in the 1898 Treaty of Paris, in which Spain also sold the Philippines to the USA for the sum of twenty million dollars. The revolutionary government was then crushed by the overwhelming military might of the United States and the Philippines turned into a territory. While the Philippines stands as the USA's greatest successes in nation-building, their early occupation left almost one-fifth of the population dead from combat and disease. Jose Rizal was executed by the Spanish long before knowing what might happen to his country. The world presented within The Noli and the El Fili is therefore stuck frozen in time, forever caught in that moment before a Revolution. Now let's see what happens to this nation if we give it the Light Novel treatment and jam the entirety of the Internet into their protagonist's skull and watch him try to fix things with his unfortunate tendency to sound like a supervillain. Updates Mondays and Fridays. Note: The Noli and El Fili have been public domain since 1946. This is completely fair game.
