《Hell Fighters》Mari v. Bahamut

“Is that him?”
“Yeah it is.”
“He doesn’t look like much.”
“But he did win.”
Yamato walks through the streets of Hell City. Everyone seems to be looking at him which makes Yamato feel a little uneasy. Finally, Yamato was stopped by two bigger demons. They give Yamato a look that makes him get into his combat stance. The three stare each other down for a moment, then out of nowhere one of the demons holds up a piece of paper and a bone style pen.
“Can we get your autograph?”
“What? Um, sure.”
Yamato takes the pen and paper in hand and signs it. He hands it back to the two and they walk off smiling. Yamato tries to continue walking but is immediately stopped by a crowd of demons wanting his autograph.
“Makida-kun, can I get an autograph too?”
“Makida-san!”
“Makida-san’s the man!”
Yamato leans down and whispers to Grimm.
“Grimm-san, what the hell is going on?”
“Master is a celebrity now.”
“Why?”
“Master is the first damned soul to win a match in the tournament in over a thousand years. Not to mention you tapped into The Fury.”
Yamato looks at his quickly forming audience. Everyone was smiling and holding out paper and pens, everyone but one. A small girl wearing rusted plates on her body. She also wore giant gauntlets and boots. She had deep brown short cut hair and her eyes were bright blue. The girl stared at Yamato for a good while before walking off. Yamato could feel that there was something different about the girl. Yamato signs one more autograph then waves at everyone as he makes his way back to his room.
Yamato gets back to his room and flops onto his bed. He looks up at the ceiling and starts thinking about everything that’s happened. He thinks about his first fight against Jaku and how he might have to fight more like him. He thinks about what Grimm said about The Fury and what it might be. Also, there was the situation with that girl.

“Does master want to see the rest of the tournament?”
“I just got back.”
“Master doesn’t need to leave.”
Yamato sits up and looks around.
“I don’t see a TV.”
“TV?”
“Alright, so how am I going to watch the tournament?”
“The mark on your wrist. Focus on it and you will be able to see the whole arena through the eyes of anyone there.”
“That’s creepy.”
Yamato looks at the mark on his wrist. He closes his eyes and clears his mind. For an instant Yamato could see the entire arena and hear the crowd close by. He opens his eyes in a shock.
“Did it work master?”
“Yeah it was weird, it was like I was actually there.”
“Well keep going, master should know who his opponents are, especially now that you are in the spot light to other fighters.”
Yamato nodded, Grimm was right after the display today, it did feel like people thought of him as special. Yamato focuses again and is taken back to the arena. He looks towards the arena and sees the girl from before. The girl stands there cross armed and unmoving.
“Demons and Demonesses, welcome to tonight’s event. Returning for her twentieth match this tournament, the foul-mouthed mass murderer, Sanu Mari!”
“This girl is a competitor? Now that I think about it, why is a little girl in Hell?”
“And now to introduce her opponent. The great evil among the third level of Hell, Bahamut!”
Yamato then sees a beast like monster enter the arena that makes Mari look like a dwarf in comparison.
“This is beyond fair, that things going to kill her!”
The match begins, and Bahamut brings both hands down in a hammer like fashion. The entire arena shook and cloud of dust filled the area where Mari and Bahamut stood. When it cleared Yamato could believe his eyes. Bahamut was stopped dead in his tracks by Mari, but that wasn’t what surprised him. Mari had stopped his attack with one hand. Mari looked up and gave Bahamut a devilish smile. When she spoke, her voice was a little horse yet high like a little girl should be.

“Did you really think that piece of shit attack would land? For fucks sake and here I thought ‘at least this bitch can hold his own,’ last fucking time I expect to get off from tiny little shrimp dicks like you.”
Yamato blinks in shock from the language he had just heard.
“That… that was weird…”
Mari takes her other hand and clenches it in a tight fist. She delivers a blow to Bahamut that not only sends him flying, but the attack sent a shockwave through the entire arena that Yamato could have sworn he felt. When Bahamut landed, there was a giant hole where his chest uses to be. The crowd cheers and Mari gives them the finger. Yamato opens his eyes and rubs them with the palms of his hands.
“Well, how was it master?”
“That girl Sanu-san, what’s her story?”
“She is a damned soul like you.”
“That girl was once a human? How can a little girl be sent to in Hell?”
“That is beyond my knowledge. She was here before I was created.”
Yamato lies back down and closes his eyes. Just who was Sanu Mari and what did she do to be sent to Hell?
