Xiumin and I looked at each other again. "Why do they want to talk to us?". Xiumin whispers. "Don't know but should we make a run for it?". I whispered back. "No need to like so frightened". Jin says and placed a finger under Xiumin's chin. "Uhh...". Xiumin blinks. "Uhh...". I was about to run but Taehyung wraps his arm around my waist.
"Come with us to our cafe". Taehyung whispered to me, but it sounded like a order. "EWWW!!!". Xiumin and I screamed, pushed the brothers away and we hugged each other. "It touched me!". Xiumin yells. "I was assaulted!". I gagged. "Let's go the fuck out of here!". Xiumin suggested and we ran. "Wait!".
"No matter how much I scrub with alcohol and bleach, it won't go away!". Xiumin yells. "Bleach the clothes". I said, already naked. "Right!". Xiumin says and starts taking off his clothes. "I need hip surgery". I sniffed. "That's it... I have to jump out the window... My life is over". I shivered. "Where's the salt?". Xiumin asked. "In the cafeteria".
"Fuck you Jimin". Xiumin says and I couldn't even laugh. "We have to leave this college". I said. "We got here on a scholarship". Xiumin points out. "You right". I hung my head down. "Maybe it was a joke". Xiumin says, brushing his chin with toothpaste. "You might be right". I smiled. "Let's just pretend it didn't happen".
The next day
"Where the hell did you get that smoothie from?". Xiumin asked. "From my connections". I answered. "What about me?". Xiumin pouts. "Exactly". I sip my smoothie while smiling at him. "Take it... Take all my hate". Xiumin said and I laughed. "Morning sexy". "Ah!". I jumped and saw Taehyung wink at me.

"Why are you eating peasant food?". Jin asked Xiumin. "Cause it's food". Xiumin says, rolling his eyes. "Not for you my love". Jin said. "You shouldn't be eating this either darling". Taehyung said and sits SUPER close to me. "We have space on earth, not a magnetic pull". I said and tried to move away from him.
"Don't run". Taehyung pulls my chair towards him. "Ok, what do y'all want?". I asked the brothers. "Y'all hate us don't you?". Jin asked. "Hate isn't a big enough word". Xiumin says. "Ever since I was born". I said. "See! I told you!". Taehyung beams. "I'm so excited!". Jin claps. "The fuck?". Xiumin and I say.
"We LOVED being hated, it turns us on". The brother said together and that's when Xiumin and I jumped up out our seats. "Peace out". Xiumin and I ran out. "They are so delicious!". Jin squeals. "Stay in your lane brother". Taehyung hissed. "Yeah, yeah". Jin waves his hand at his brother. "But... Will they love us back?". Jin asked worriedly.
"Of course!". Taehyung beams. "I mean...".
"Who would say no to the Kim's?".

But why are they worthy of mention? Because after millennia of isolation, the two emerge in the new world beyond their reckoning. The entire story is told from the third person, however, each chapter will be told from the perspective of only one of the characters. This will be signified by the first letter of their names after the chapter number to avoid confusion. I submitted this fiction as a [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] as well as a participant in National Novel Writing Month. The original challenge had been to finish this entire faction within the month of November reaching the 55.5k word minimum. This goal had been achieved. I do not own the cover picture

Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. The Beasts From Beyond, an ever-present threat of elderich abominations appearing in the world through some unknown means, for unknown reasons. All that is known is that they will come, and they will kill. Living in fear of this, was not the way of the people of Alatara. To the North, they built mighty machines and bred mighty people. To the west, they developed an order of great warriors. To the east, they undertook surptitious and unseemly strides towards peace. To the South, flaming Demons and Devils crush the creatures that threaten them. And in the center, the largest mass of land and the largest concentration of both Beasts and man, they embraced unity. The Otherworld Defence Department oversaw all the needs of the different branches, the most famous of this being the Supernatural Incursion Response. A Mailed Fist, aimed at the creatures that would disturb the peace and threaten the people. Aided in this endevour, there were the Quasi-Humans. Beings of transformative properties, with powers and capabilities allowing them aid the Humans in pushing back the beasts. It is in this, that Kiko is born. Though nobody could foresee it, she will bring about the doom of the planet. The only question, is how?
