You stood in the doorway, your smile so bright,

it seemed the whole world

would smile at the sight.

You told me with glee

the plans you had for me

and you never once faltered or paused.

You said with such confidence

that you had the cognizance

that I would be yours forever.

You didn't care of my flaws,

or the trouble I'd caused.

You simply just wanted me plainly.

Then you took my hand

and spun me to land

in your warm, empathetic, embrace.

I looked in your eyes

and claimed them my prize

to cherish and keep forever.

You never did know

how your eyes, they did glow,

in the light of the afternoon sun.

I often think back

to that moment I cracked

and finally broke down my thick walls.

I never believed

I would ever succeed,

in finding that love again.

But you stood there so tall,

and I so small,

had no choice but accept the fall.
