《Whirl》chapter 18

Josie's right hand was very much fractured. She had to wear a cast for about three weeks, more or less.
August was adamant with staying by her side. She knew he felt guilty. She could see it in his puppy dog look, but she was no longer upset. She was never the dramatic type. She felt embarrassed for storming off and hurting herself.
"You know I'll be okay. You need to go back to work," she told him where she was sitting on her own bed in her own house, watching August pack her some more things.
He knew she was exhausted, so he worked quickly. Most of her important items were already at his home, but he knew she'd need more clothes from here.
"No, I don't. I caused this mess, so I'll be staying by your side every minute. Besides, it'll be like a trial run for you moving in and me working from home."
"You did not cause this. It was my own fault," Josie yawned and August kissed her head. He realized the pain medication would be kicking in and as much as he loved carrying her around, he was also exhausted from today's events.
He zipped up the bag and locked up her house.
"You'd give up your whole life for me?" Josie asked sleepily where her head was resting on the window of the car.
"Oh, baby. I wouldn't be giving anything up. I'd be living," he said picking up her good hand and kissing it with a smile.
It was true. He had worked so hard, harder than anyone his age. He had lots of money, but what did that matter? Finally, he had someone who could see beyond that, someone who enjoyed being around him and made him happy. If only he wouldn't keep screwing things up, then maybe he could leave his old life and start something new, with Josie.

She ended up falling asleep, and for once he dreaded carrying her. His whole body was sore, but he wouldn't wake her and make her walk, not after the day she had.
He carried her as gently as possible. He knew her medication would knock her out for quite a while, so he shook her awake once she was in his bedroom. He knew she would want to shower.
"Come on, princess. Just a few more minutes before you can go to bed," August cooed, stroking her face when her eyes blinked sleepily up at him.
She yawned, letting her head fall onto his chest. "I feel disgusting," she grumbled. He did too, after being in the woods and then the hospital.
"Let's get you showered, then," he said, helping wrap her cast to protect it from the water.
"This isn't going to work. I can't feel my right hand," Josie groaned.
August knew she was getting grumpy, and he was unsure how to help her. He knew she wasn't ready for him to see her naked, but she could hardly lift her arm at the moment.
The good thing about his shower was the large seat that was directly under the spray of water.
"You can sit with a towel and I can wash you," he offered.
They decided to attempt it. He helped her undress, doing everything to make her comfortable. He turned away to turn on the water so she could finish taking off her bra and panties and wrap herself in a towel.
"This is awkward," she groaned miserably. "This is not how I wanted my first shower with a guy to be."
August chuckled, pulling off his shirt and stepping under the spray.
"It's not awkward. I think you are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen," he said honestly, kissing her shoulder. Knowing she was in pain was enough for him to not look at her in a heated way. There would be another time for that.

He gentled washed her hair, and scrubbed the parts of her body that weren't hidden by the towel.
He kissed her sweetly, "I'll step out so you can finish. Call me and I'll bring you clothes."
He was soaking wet and not clean. It was actually even worse then before.
Josie couldn't believe how lucky she was. August was so caring and gentle with pure intentions. Nobody had ever cared for her like this.
He helped her dress. She had requested to wear his clothes which she could tell made him very happy.
He made sure he was comfortable in his bed before going to take a shower himself.
Oddly, she had never slept in his room before. They had actually never shared a bed.
"I thought you would be asleep," August smiled when he emerged from the bathroom. He still didn't have a shirt on and he was towel drying his hair.
Josie patted the bed, "I was waiting for you. I need to tell you something."
He laid down beside her with a relieved sigh, closing his eyes for just a moment before peeking up at her. "What do you need to tell me?"
"Thank you for taking care of me. I love you," she whispered, scooting down and laying her head on his chest.
August felt his cheeks heat up when he heard the sweet words. He kissed her head, feeling an immense amount of happiness swirling in his chest.
"I've loved you since I first met you. You complete me," he said back, running his fingers through her damp hair, watching her slowly doze off. What a crazy weekend it had been.
