《One For Sorrrow [MxM]》Chapter 18

We arrived at the party and Eros was the first to greet us.
"Hello, my good friends, I honestly didn't think you were coming," he grinned and sipped from the glass of wine he held.
"Kellen said we would," Caerus returned the grin and slid his hand around my waist. Eros gave me a once over and then turned to my master.
"You have outdone yourself, Caerus, I do hope you keep a tight leash on him tonight," he flicked his tongue over his lips, "or even I might want a taste."
Undeterred by his embarrassing comment I opened my mouth.
"Where is Zephyr?" I asked casually and a slow smirk spread across his face.
"He's busy with another friend of mine," Eros slung an arm over Caerus' shoulder, "you might know him Caer, brotherly feud and all that."
Caerus dug his fingers into my hip and I leaned into his body.
"Mavros and I aren't on the best of terms, Eros, please don't interfere," Caerus replied and pulled me away, leaving Eros in the dust. Although he didn't seem to mind and went off to terrorize someone new.
People crowed the rooms in all sorts of colors, blues, greens, reds, and purples, everything. Although I quickly noticed how scantily dressed most of them were. So I began looking for Zephyr, now was my chance to ask him about the visits.
People came up to Caerus on occasion and each exclaimed how he hadn't been in such a long time. It became obnoxious after a while, especially when they'd look me over and remark on how I looked most of the time.
Caerus put his hands all over me. He claimed it was to keep others away, but I knew he enjoyed it immensely when he got a reaction out of me. Throughout it all I searched for Zephyr, every once in a while I'd catch a glance of dark hair and think it was him, but it never was.
Caerus had me pulled against his side as he spoke with someone I didn't know. As it turned out, I was very good at playing my part. His shirt was already loose at the top from where I'd unbuttoned it and his hair was tussled where my hands had been.
I rested my head on his shoulder and stared outside where a balcony lay and a cool breeze filtered in.

And I saw him.
Zephyr was walking out to the balcony in dark blue robes that matched the shade of his eyes. That matched the shade of my eyes.
"I see Zephyr, I'll be back in a few minutes," I whispered and gave his ear a kiss as if I were whispering unsavory things to him. When I drew back he had that sly grin on his face but I could see the warning in his eyes.
I took a step away but he pulled me to him by my waist. A quiet gasp escaped me as his breath hovered over my neck.
"Don't you dare, Kellen," Caerus warned and squeezed me around the waist, "you don't understand what could happen."
I pulled away and kissed his jaw before walking off, he could only stand and watch the subtle sway of my hips. My heart beat fast as I wove through faces that I didn't know until I found myself by the balcony.
"Zephyr!" I called to him, he was leaned over the railing, his knuckles were white from how tightly he gripped it. He wiped the back of his hand over his mouth and turned to me. In his other hand was a drink.
I saw the horror on his face as he recognized me.
"What are you doing here Kellen? Where is Caerus?" He looked behind me but came up empty.
"He's in there, I came to talk to you," I answered and leaned over the balcony beside him. He still looked pale in the moonlight.
"You have to go back to him now. If all of this is-" he cut off and ran his nimble fingers through his inky black hair. "Tell me what you want and then I'm taking you back."
"Why are you drinking that?" I started simple, knowing it was drugged. He looked down at the glass and drank the last of it.
"Eros makes me drink as much of it as I can at these parties, sometimes so much that I can't remember what happened the next morning," he threw the glass over the balcony and looked up at the sky. I frowned and cast my gaze to the ground.
"Why were you there? This whole time?" I asked as he spit over the balcony.

"Gods that taste is foul, I was there to make sure Caerus didn't hurt you," he replied and looked down at me. That just left me with more questions.
"Why would you do that?" I breathed, we'd never met before last night.
"There are a lot of things you don't know, Kellen, stay with Caerus and you'll learn everything in time," Zephyr waved his hand and heaved a slow sigh.
"Then why do we look alike?" I whispered and he stared at me as if he hadn't thought I'd noticed.
"Pass. Next one," he answered curtly and then I knew he was hiding.
"You do know something, why can't you tell me?" I pleaded and braced my hand on the cement railing.
"Because I am a fool and a coward, Kellen," he returned bitterly, "stay with Caerus, and you'll find out everything."
"Fine, fine," I sighed and slumped my shoulders.
"Good, now we're going back to Caerus. I've been keeping those creeps away all night, don't blow it now," Zephyr muttered as we began walking back. I stopped and looked up at him in horror. This whole night? He'd been... I couldn't even imagine it.
"Zephyr?" I asked cautiously and placed a hand on his arm. He didn't look back at me.
"Why do you think they've only been looking, Kellen? Caerus can't protect you from everything," he sighed and I felt so terribly guilty in that moment.
"I'm so sorry, Zephyr, you didn't have to," I choked and he finally looked down at me.
"I did, Kellen, I did," Zephyr replied and gave me a small smile, "let's go."
I let him push me along, his hand resting between my shoulder blades. His body pressed closer to mine as we wove through the mass of bodies. I could smell a mix of different cologne all over him, but the one that stood out most was something like fresh pine needles.
I caught sight of Caerus lounging in a chair across from Eros. A few other strangers were on the couches and armchairs around them.
Zephyr nudged me over to Caerus as he went to his own master.
"And where have you two been, all alone?" Eros asked in a suggestive tone as Zephyr straddled his lap, "up to no good, I hope."
"And why would you hope that, Master Eros?" I asked innocently as I took a seat in Caerus' lap. He was absolutely furious with me; a message he sent by the death grip he placed on my hips.
"I think it would be fun to punish you, Kellen. What do you think Zephy?" Eros ran his tongue over his bottom lip and slid his fingers down Zephyr's thighs.
"And pass up the opportunity to punish me, master?" A pang if guilt sliced through me. Zephyr was protecting me again.
"I'd love to punish the both of you, the three of us could have so much fun together," Eros grinned as Zephyr placed his hands on his master's shoulders.
"I believe you did offer some lessons to me," I pointed out and nestled into Caerus' lap. My statement made him unbelievably angry.
"Yes, Zephy here is very talented, I'm sure you could practice very well with him," Eros gave Zephyr a sultry look and I could visibly see how furious it made the smaller male.
"Don't you fucking dare, Eros," he hissed and shoved his finger at Eros' chest, "not with Kellen. I will never touch Kellen."
It was as if everyone in hearing range stopped breathing. Even Caerus tensed beneath me.
"Zephyrus, I think you've forgotten your place," I could see how a muscle feathered in Eros' jaw as he spoke.
"Do whatever you want Master Eros, but I will not touch Kellen," the malice in Zephyr's voice was gone, he was back to the obedient servant I'd first met.
"Caerus come with me, now," Eros said to my own master and it was at that moment that I realized that's everyone, everyone in this room was no match for Eros. Not Caerus, and definitely not Zephyrus.
I stood on trembling legs as Caerus wrapped his arms around me and led us forward.
The crowd parted for the four of us as Eros stormed by, dragging Zephyr by the wrist in a bone crushing grip.
I was terrified. Not only for myself. But for Zephyrus.
Gods save us all from his master's wrath.
