《Unexpected Lycan Book 1》Chapter 39

The meeting with Mr.Whitman went well. He congratulated Trevor and I on our mating. I thought he was human. Turns out he is Beta for our neighboring pack.
As soon as we returned home Trevor and Marcus started drawing plans and ordering supplies for the walls. They will be concrete with a stone facade. Twenty feet high and five feet thick. There will be razor wire on the outer facing top, to prevent anyone scaling the walls. The width also allows those patrolling to walk the wall. There will be massive iron gates and a guard house with security cameras at the entrance to pack lands. The only open area will be along the lake front of the pack house. There will be automatic gates that will close if we are attacked from the water.
Trevor was upset that it would take a year to build the walls. He was worried about mine and the babies safety. But Adora had assured me that we would be fine.

"Love...you have to get ready. The trials start in 2hrs." I knew she was miserable. She had only 2 weeks to go and she was huge. Unable to walk by herself.
"Why do I have to go? I'm fat, cranky and tired." Alex whined.
"Because the Alpha and Luna always preside at the trials, along side the elders."
"Fine. But I want food and a pitcher of orange juice and they have to stop if I need to pee."
Trevor laughed. "Anything you need princess, I promise."
The ballroom had been transformed into a courtroom. There was a dais with a long table and chairs. Alex and Trevor sat in the middle with three elders on each side. There was a chair sat facing them about 10ft away. There were rows of chairs for witnesses and the ranked wolves.
"The first case we will decide today will be Zoe March." Trevor nodded to the guard by the door. The door opened and a handcuffed Zoe was lead to the chair by James. He positioned himself behind her. She looked horrible. The rejection had taken its toll on her. Her eyes were red with dark circles underneath, her face was pale and drawn.

The elder to the far right started. "You have been charged with treason and attempted premeditated murder. You confessed your crimes to your Alpha and Beta. Do you have anything to say before judgement is passed?"
"Only that I'm sorry." She bowed her head.
The elders began writing on pieces of paper and passing them to Trevor. Alex was curious. "What are those?" She whispered to Trevor. "Their decision for punishment."
"Don't I get one?"
Trevor sighed. "No. the Luna is a mother to the pack she does not punish." Alex frowned but kept quiet.
"Zoe March please stand. By your own admission you are guilty of your crimes. We have decided your punishment is death." Trevor had no emotion in his voice.
Zoe started to cry and fell to the floor. James pulled her up and walked her out. Trevor looked up and saw Daniel sitting at the back of the room. Are you okay? He got no answer, Daniel had his mind blocked.
The elder, a woman, at the opposite end spoke. "The next case is Owen and Shirley Hatch." Another chair was placed by the one in front. The doors opened and two enforcers walked them to the chairs. The same elder continued. "You both have been charged with kidnapping, treason and attempted murder. How do you plead."
Owen spoke as Shirley kept her head down. "Guilty. But can I say something before you decide." Trevor nodded. "We only did what we thought was beneficial for the pack. We really care for the Luna and would never hurt her. We took good care of her while she was with us."
Another elder spoke up. "You drugged the third in command. With a dosage that could have killed him had he not been found so quick." Owen only nodded and bowed his head.
The elders again wrote their decisions and passed them over. Trevor was surprised at the decision. "Owen and Shirley Hatch please rise." They stood unsteadily from their chairs. "The elders deem you guilty of your crimes. You both will spend 10 years in prison." Shirley and Owen grasped each other in a hug and cried. Trevor waved for the enforcers to take them out. "We will break now for lunch. Meet back here in 1 hour." Trevor helped Alex up and walked her to his office across the hall. The maid came in behind them with their lunch.

"Could you please bring me a big bowl of strawberry ice cream with hot fudge?" Alex grinned. The maid bowed and left the room. Trevor handed her a plate and she rested it on her stomach and ate. Trevor laughed at the relish with which she ate it. "It's a good thing wolves don't get fat." Alex gave a sort of smile, with her cheeks full of food.
We were back in the ballroom ready for the next case. I really dreaded this one. I knew there would be theatrics. "The next case is Derek Black." Trevor nodded to the guards. James brought in Derek in ankle chains and handcuffs. He refused to sit, James had to push him on the chair before he would sit.
The elder to the right spoke. "You are charged with treason and escape. How do you plead?"
"Not guilty of course." Derek smirked looking at Trevor.
The elder next to Trevor spoke. "Did you coerce a pack member into helping you bring down the Alpha?"
"No. I asked her for information on his mate and she supplied it willingly. She seemed to want the girl dead." He smiled his cheesy smile.
"Did you encourage pack wolves to attack enforcers?"
"Again no. I asked them to come with me as protection. When the Beta attacked me, they were only coming to my aid." Trevor wanted to wipe that smirk off his face.
"You escaped with the help of a pack member, is that right?"
"I did not request her assistance, she came to me. She said that she was setting me free." Derek shrugged.
"Were all of your actions the result of you wanting to take the Alpha position?"
"I came to talk peaceably to my nephew. I advised him I was the rightful heir and asked him to step down. Any action I took was to secure my birth right."
"Isn't it true that the previous Alpha was his father?"
"Yes. My brother."
"Then the position goes to his heir isn't that correct?"
"No! I was his brother the position should of went to me! Not some idiot 18yr old!" Derek was glaring at Trevor.
The elder asked. "Do we have witnesses?"
"Yes. Two and the confession of Zoe March." Trevor smiled at Derek. "Bring in the first witness."
The enforcer walked in with a man in handcuffs and stood behind him. "Please state your name for the elders."
"Mike Todd"
"Mike please tell us your involvement with Derek and the conversation you had with him."
"Derek said he had to go to a vampires house to get his girlfriend. We were hired as security. He told us to attack anyone who tried to stop or attack him. When we told him of our concerns, he said that he would be Alpha and no charges would be brought against us."
"Derek do you have any questions for the witness?"
Derek glared at Mike and waved him away.
"Take the witness back to his cell." Trevor smiled. The elders were whispering to each other. The elder next to Trevor whispered to him. Trevor nodded and looked back to Derek. "The elders have decided that no more witnesses are required. They deem Mikes testimony and Zoe's confession sufficient. We will now pass judgement." The elders wrote furiously and passed the papers to Trevor. "Derek Black please stand."
Derek just sat there and smirked. James yanked him to his feet and pushed the chair away.
"Derek Black, even though your crimes are punishable by death, the elders have decided on a more fitting punishment. You are to be banished. Any income you received as part of the Alpha family will stop. You will be taken to Alaska and dropped off. You will however receive a backpack with a change of clothes and food and water for 2 days. All packs will be notified of the reason for your banishment and no one will accept you. You are from this moment a rogue."
Derek stood stunned. "No! You can't do this to me!"
"Oh but I can and I have. Remove the prisoner!" Trevor grinned at Derek.
