Blue was deep into her sleep, her head buried in one of the most comfy pillows on the bed. All was quiet, save for the pitter-patter of the gems outside the room. Oh, and Chalcedony never said it out loud, because it was obvious, but the monitor played the sound of the gemlings' gems pulsing. It sounded like a human heartbeat, and somehow, it was soothing to Blue.
Her eyes snapped open at the feeling of something damp slowly soaking her dress. She lifted the sheets, noticing that there was a stain under her bottom on the sheet when she moved over a bit. It was a sign of early labor.
She immediately clutched her stomach, clenching her teeth, trying to handle the pain that took over her, oh, so quickly. Luckily, that only lasted seven seconds. Unluckily, though, it meant these contractions would only get worse and longer.
Blue reached for the button to call Chalcedony and pressed it, said gem arriving in at least thirty seconds.
"Something the matter, my Diamond?"
"My—" A groan of pain halted her sentence. The contractions were simply too close together. "My water broke, and the contractions started. I'm a month early!"
Chalcedony looked at her, mouth agape, then said, "Alright, I'm going to get all of the 'tech stuff' sorted out. I could call your Tanzanite, if you'd like."
***Tanzanites were only called for situations that Chalcedonies couldn't handle by themselves. They were like Chalcedonies, though. Same height as the Diamonds, but not as powerful.***
Chalcedony would need to keep careful watch of the gemlings from the ultrasound, so a Tanzanite would be needed to ground Blue Diamond, keep her calm.
"Yes, please," Blue answered, leaning back while seething at the feeling of the immense pain. Chalcedony called Tanzanite, her arriving in a little under a minute.
"Keep her calm," Chalcedony ordered. "Stressing is not the best option for anyone, right now."
"Of course." Tanzanite kneeled at the paining Diamond's beside, coaching her on how to breathe in a pattern, and rubbing her side on command.
An hour or so in, and Blue was starting to tear apart. The pain was unbearable, and the contractions had turned into thirty seconds intervals of pain with ten seconds of space in between, that had Blue groaning and sobbing loudly. As far she was concerned, it could be heard throughout Homeworld.
There was a knock on the door, that made everyone look toward it. The provider of said knock didn't bother to wait for permission, as she could easily shatter anyone who denied her.
Yellow Diamond.
"Yellow—AH!" Blue let out a cry of pain. She wasn't at all going to tell Yellow to leave, but rather to come here and help her.
Yellow stepped up to her, and told Tanzanite to leave, replacing her hand, which was holding Blue's, with her own.

Blue's face was flushed, and she couldn't say a single word without huffing out breaths. "Y-Yellow?! W-Why do y-you even b-bother?! Y-You don't c-care about me like tha-at!"
Yellow's brows stayed angled and stern, and her face stayed stern, too, but she said, "I most certainly do care about you like that." She ordered Tanzanite to leave, and she complied.
"Blue, I know this is the most painful experience of your life, and it makes a shattering seem painless, but that's why I'm here."
Blue looked up at her, tears running down her face.
"I can not even begin to fathom how sorry I am for presenting you with this mentality that I don't love you. I care about you and the children you will soon have more than anything in this galaxy. It sounds foolish from someone who certainly doesn't deserve someone like you, but it's true. I wish to be open with you, I wish to not be arrogant, and I wish to give you the relationship that you want. And of course I am able do all those things—but given the way I am, I cannot do them well. If I could flip my personality like a switch, I would, to make you happy. I would take care of our children every single second, having you do nothing, to make you happy. I'd not only do those things to give you happiness, a temporary emotion, but to let you know how far I'm willing to go to make it so you never think that I don't love you."
Yellow sighed. "Tell me what I need to do to make it seem like I do love you." A tear sat on her bottom eyelid, threatening to fall. Her eyes widened at the grip on her hand becoming strong. She looked at Blue. She was practically quivering in pain, but her face bore a smile.
"You don't have to do anything. You've done more than enough."
Blue pulled her close, then embraced her. Yellow wasn't normally up for that sort of thing, but now was an acception. And any other time was an acception. For once, she actually felt happiness. Her brows were in a more soft position, and her eyes didn't give off such a horrifying glare, but rather a soft look.
Blue was happy too, but she couldn't keep her fingers from digging into Yellow's back out of pain. "Oh— Ah-AH!" Somehow, the pain had gotten so much worse. "YYELLOW!!"
Yellow's eyes widened at the fact that Blue's voice could reach octaves like that. Yellow took one of Blue's hands in hers, while wrapping her left arm around her, her left hand rubbing her shoulder. Blue sobbed and groaned loudly, her grip on Yellow's hand becoming stronger and stronger.
"Y-Ye-ellow?!" Blue sobbed, groaning afterwards. "Ple-ease! D-Don't leave me!"

Yellow took her right hand and cupped Blue's cheek with it, the tears slipping under her palm. "Look at me," she said firmly. "Never. That's never happening again, do you hear me? I never want us to enter that hellhole ever again. I am never leaving you again."
Blue planted her face into Yellow's chest. "I'm no-ot making it, Yellow! I ca-an't last much lo-onger!"
"Yes, you are." Yellow turned to Chalcedony. She said furiously, "Can't you do something?! Look at her!"
"My Diamond, there are no fresh epidurals—" An epidural that wasn't used the same day it was made could harm the gemlings. "—and there are not enough resources to make one on such short notice for a gem that requires so much energy just to stay alive!"
"Does Tanzanite know anything?!"
"Tanzanites aren't specialized in births!"
"Is there no way to numb the pain completely?!"
"No! I'm sorry!"
Yellow Diamond yelled, "What are you all good for, you worthless—"
"Yellow, beating them up over it isn't helping! Don't—" Blue let out one of the loudest cries she'd ever made that night.
"ONE'S COMING! I FEEL HER!"
Chalcedony wasted no time getting to the foot of the bed and hoisting Blue's legs up into position. She called for Tanzanite, and she came running in, standing next to Chalcedony. Blue flashed off the the other half of her dress that hadn't been flashed off, her extremities being covered by the sheets. Her skin was shiny from sweating, and she tightly gripped anything within grabbing distance, which included Yellow's hand and the bedsheets.
Chalcedony and Tanzanite were talking, and to Blue, it was muffled. Most sounds were muffled, except for her own screams. Anything else was muffled with a layer of high-pitched ringing. She looked upwards, noticing Yellow talking to the gems at the foot of the bed.
Now, sound could be clearly heard again, as Blue was able to hear Yellow say, "You're the strongest gem I know, dear. You can do this, you can make it."
"My Diamond, I need you to push when I say!" Chalcedony instructed. "I will count to ten, when I reach ten, stop pushing! Ready?!"
Blue gave a choppy-sounding "uh-huh," throwing her head back, and groaning. Chalcedony instructed her to "Take a few deep breaths, and...push!"
Blue Diamond lurched forward, pushing as hard as she could. As she did, Chalcedony started to count, "1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10!" Blue threw herself back, feeling like the number ten was her lord and savior. "Oh, sta-ars! Someone save me! Ma-ake this stop! I want this to be over!"
"Blue, you're doing fine!" Yellow assured her, rubbing her shoulder.
Blue groaned. "How long before this ki-ills me?!"
"You're going to make it through this, Blue!"
"My Diamond, get ready to push again! Deep breaths!"
Blue took in a few heavy, choppy breaths, before Chalcedony told her to "Push!" and started counting to ten again. Only, Blue stopped pushing at seven from exhaustion. She cried out, loudly, "I can't do this!"
Yellow looked her in the eyes, and said, "Our children are trying just as hard as you! If anything, they're suffering more than you! They're doing everything in their power just to be here and see us! You have to keep going for them!"
"Push, my Diamond!"
This repeatedly went on for hours. Time sped up and slowed down around Blue Diamond, as she pushed with all the force she had in her. And, at that moment, there wasn't much force. She cried and screamed, wanting only to see her daughters.
She finally gasped, feeling...empty. Gasps and cooes replaced any other sounds in the room. One gemling had been born, and the other had come out in suit. Blue had been brought back down to Earth—er, down to Homeworld, seeing one crying gemling in Tanzanite's arms, and the other in Chalcedony's arms.
"Oh," Blue Diamond cooed, her voice shaky, "They're so little, the sweet things." She felt Yellow's lips press against her forehead. She looked up at her, smiling as much as she could. She looked over at Chalcedony, who was at a small table in the corner with Tanzanite.
"We're just cleaning them and swaddling them each in a blanket, my Diamond," Chalcedony said.
Blue nodded, propping herself up against the stack of pillows. She looked up at Yellow. "I did that. We did." She set her hand on top of Yellow's, which was already holding her other hand. "I'm glad you were here. I wouldn't have been able to do this without you." Yellow smiled at her.
"Alright, here you are," Chalcedony said, handing Blue Diamond both gemlings, one in each arm. The two babies squirmed in their blankets.
One gemling had light mint hair, dark seafoam skin, and dark green eyes. Her hair resembled Blue's, with a middle part, and curls on the sides. She had bold lashes, like Yellow's, which was surprising for a gemling.
The other gemling had the same skin as the other's, but a bit more aqua-looking. She had dark green hair and bright teal eyes. She had Yellow's hair shape, only softer, with the texture of Blue's. She had Blue's eyes, though, with the lashes at the bottom being longer than the ones at the top.
Both gemlings had their gem on their chest, like Yellow and Blue. They were both green diamonds. Blue and Yellow decided to name the one with Yellow's eyes and Blue's hair Verna, and the one with Blue's eyes and Yellow's hair Eden.
