《To String Together ( Huaze Lei )》Farewell

A tired sigh sounded from Ximen as he put the car in park. Ximen turned around to look back at Faye resting her head on my lap. He then looked at me unsure whether this was a great idea or not. We were parked in the garage of the airport to see Faye off. Faye fell asleep possibly an hour ago once we went to get her luggage from my room and put it into Ximen's car.
"She'll be fine," I spoke directly to Ximen.
"She... just went to sleep. We can't let her get on this flight alone."
"Faye is sober enough to go. She's going to be alright. We've already made these plans for her."
"That was before I knew she was going to be out all night and have drinks."
"Faye is a young adult. She can take care of herself when it comes to these decisions." I knew Ximen was always worried for her. No matter what the situation was between them, Ximen always seemed to be concerned for Faye when something wasn't right. I've always wondered if Ximen had ever had a crush on Faye or the other way around.
"I know... Maybe one of us should go with her."
"We have already agreed to take Shancai and Xiaoyou to the cabins. She made it here safely from the states when she first arrived and now she has a short stop in Seoul to meet with Lee and his friends. She won't be riding the plane entirely alone for long."
"A week and a half seems long to be without her. Don't you think?"
"I do, but I know she has been waiting to see her family and spend time with all of the Astro members. Faye is going to have plenty of time with me once we're back here and even after graduation." Ximen gave me a knowing look indicating we shouldn't discuss anything in this subject with Faye present.
"Hmm... We should start heading in though. She needs to get checked in." I nod as I looked down to see a peaceful Faye sleeping. Ximen took his keys out before getting out of the car. Carefully, I reach for her arm before leaning down to kiss her forehead. I watched as she stirs slightly from her sleep and it took a moment before a small yawn escaped her lips. Momentarily after her eyes opened looking up at me and a tired smile formed on her lips. The back of the trunk opened where Ximen began to take out her things.
"Hi," she spoke lightly. I smiled down at her. "We're here?" I hummed and she sat up slowly. I took my seatbelt off getting out of the car making my way over to her side. I opened the door and helped her out.
"Feeling alright?" I asked her. She nodded and yawned. Her eyes squeezed shut for a split moment and she swayed slightly making me react to reach toward her. I've learned she sometimes loses her balance when she is tired and is not quite focused. Having her in my arms, her eyes opened once her yawn was complete.

"I'm okay. I am going to miss you though." Her lower lip is pushed out into a pouting. From her expression, I knew she was trying to avoid her sadness for us parting very soon.
"What about me?" Ximen asked and I looked over to Ximen to see him starting at Faye. "Will I be missed?" Faye smiled sheepishly at Ximen and nodded before making her way towards him. I followed behind knowing their friendship now wasn't the same. Faye was being accepting towards Ximen knowing he has been her closest friend for a very long time and wanted to return to normal, but her return here has caused some damage. Ximen and I both know Faye hasn't fully forgiven him. She instead continued to be with her research friends and I.
"Of course I will," Faye spoke and she let go of me fully to hug her childhood best friend. Observing her, I could tell she was a bit hesitant. Hopefully one day she will be comfortable around Ximen again. "I'll be thinking of you both." Ximen smiled as she handed her cello over to her. I took her carry-on bag and Ximen took her luggage before closing the trunk.
"You're going to forget about us when you're with them." We began making our way towards the shuttle.
"Not true. I wouldn't do that. The both of you mean a lot to me. I couldn't forget about you or Lei." Looking at her, I smiled and gave her a reassuring squeeze that I appreciated her. I have become a change in her life and she has made a difference in my life in the span of the few months. Since her arrival, I became interested in her the more she was around. My phase on the famous Faye Calinao changed perspective once I found out she was closest friends with Ximen. I was not completely sure if I would ever be able to pursue Faye once I realized she became fond of knowing how Ximen was. It would have been difficult if Ximen was not approving of it being our friend.
Her presence has shown a side of myself I never knew existed.
Personally, thinking back to before meeting Faye in August, I was very calm, empty minded, and kept a reputation as a part of F4. My mind never expanded much outside the closed group of friends I've always surrounded myself with, Bridge competitions and music. I chose not to care much for my classmates or the other girls who wanted to be with one of the F4 members. Being taken in by Ah Si had built a friendship with both, Meizuo and Ximen. Ah Si himself I understood the way he acted around others.
"My family is excited to see you both," Faye said, catching my attention. I refocused to realize we were approaching the gates where Faye had to be checked before going through. This would be as far as we could go with her.

"Can't wait to meet the twins," Ximen smiled and reached forward to hug Faye. "I bet ma will be very happy to see me."
"Very, it has been years Ximen." The two of them talk for a few minutes and hug each other before Faye towards me. She walked over towards me standing enough for her to look up at me. I looked directly down at her and my heart skipped a beat. I wrapped my arms around her waist hearing a cough from Ximen. I looked towards him to see he was slowly backing away and turned around to give us some privacy. Looking back down at Faye, I smiled tiredly wishing we wouldn't have to part for a while.
Her expression was a mixture of sadness and tiredness. Her arms slowly wrapped around me and I leaned down to kiss his forehead, letting my lips linger for longer than usual. Pulling away she smiled.
"Lei," she spoke softly. I bring one of my hands to her cold cheeks.
"I'm going to miss you Faye," I said to her and her one hand went for my hand on her cheek to hold.
"It will be strange to not have you around for almost two weeks."
"I feel the same way Faye," I laughed lightly. "We've seen each other almost everyday since August. Are you going to be alright?"
"I should be alright. I can't wait for you to meet my family." Her tone told me she was very fond of her family. It was great to see she had family who supported her. "My mom is very eager to meet you in person." I smiled down at her.
I remained calm in front of her, but there was a part of me that was nervous about meeting her family. Coming from a different family environment, Faye's parents to me I am not sure how to be around them. Would her parents like me? If her parents did not like me, could my relationship with Faye be affected?
"It should be a fun time performing for them. Until I get there, don't dwell too much on missing me. I want you to enjoy your time, alright?"
"Hmmm, tell Shancai and Xiaoyou to have a great time. I'm... surprised Shancai agreed to go."
"You know Ah Si has interest in her. He doesn't show much, but I think this will be a good trip for everyone. Plus we'll all be close to you. I'll be able to drive to your home with Ximen." A troubled expression crossed her face. I frowned slightly concerned, wondering what her thoughts were. "What's wrong?" It took her a moment to be in her own thoughts before looking at me with a slight uncomfortable expression.
"Doaming Si..." she spoke lightly. She never mentioned what she had received from Daoming Si as a gift or what he said in his card to her. I noticed there has been a slight change in her mindset when it now came to him. As of right now I am not able to tell if she was attempting to force herself to slowly accept Ah Si or there was something she hasn't mentioned yet. "... does he actually want me to come to the cabins to spend New Years with all of you?"
"Yes, but... you don't have to," I shook my head, not wanting her to think about it too much. "You have your family that you can spend time with. It's not a very big deal if you decline him."
"I could see Shancai and Xiaoyou."
"We can talk more about it when we get closer to the time," I spoke lightly to her and noticed Ximen appear again next to us. I looked towards the time on the screen then back at Faye who seemed to realized she needed to go through the gates.
"It's time Faye," Ximen spoke and her eyes shifted towards him. "You should get going." She nodded slightly before stepping towards me and rewrapping her arms around me. She placed her head against me and I rewrapped my arms around her to hug her tightly. I leaned over to kiss the top of her head and stood there with her for a moment. I looked towards Ximen smiling towards us. She pulled away slowly and looked up at me once more.
"I'll talk to you both soon," She smiled.
"Travel safely Faye," Ximen spoke. She hummed noticing she was now arms length away now. She held my hand extending our hold.
"I love you," I say to her and she smiled once more.
"I love you Lei," she answered softly before Ximen handed her luggage over to her. She lets go of my hand and slowly backs away from us. "See you in Canada."
"See you in Canada," I smiled and she slowly turned away to make her way towards the line. The two of us waited for her to get past security and she turned in our direction to send a wave before disappearing. I let out a sigh and Ximen turned towards me.
"Feels strange without her around, isn't it?" I nod as we began making our way back towards the car. "You're the one wanting to make a great commitment. I can't believe... you want to ask her on graduation day. You two have dated just a few months. Are you sure you don't want to think about this more?"
My mind felt sure of my decision.

Descendants of Cosmia
Reefa, Wellor, Rozo and Auri are four teenagers trying to get through life living in a village surrounded by the barren sands of the Hariq Desert; a village isolated from the walls of the 9 Monarchs of Cosmia. The world that lies beyond the walls involves the social segregation between humans and Haaras. Haaras are people with the ability to control elements of water, air and earth, whilst humans cannot obtain this power at all. Reefa had always thought of herself to be a human with no type of elemental wielding. However, after many reoccurences throughout her childhood in which she hears the voices of people that speak in the future, she has doubts about who she really is inside. The same phenomenon happens when she is 15 years-old, but this time the voices she hears alerts her of a future attack that will happen to the people of her village. When the time had come, Reefa and her friends escape their predicament and travel to the east towards the land of dragons known as Tetranazia. Bearing in mind the last words her aunt told her with a heavy heart, she must protect her friends from the dangers ahead and venture into the walls to search for the answers of the attack. This is an original English light novel (OELN). There will be several visuals of characters and world-building as you read this novel. The story's genre is mainly Shonen-influenced Josei and Fantasy. Do note that the story is slow-paced in development, so it might not be to your liking. I'll be updating 2 new chapters every month on the 25th (SGT).(I'm doing it monthly because I have to consider the pile of college workload I have (;_;) and I'll need extra time on drawing the illustrations) Occasionally, I'll do Bonus Releases, where I release more than 2 chapter in the next monthly update Feel free to give me feedback on my story. I will very much appreciate it! (ノ´∀`) I created this story on Scribble Hub, so you can also check it out over at their platform.
