《The Fifth Horseman - Now You See Me (Daniel Atlas Fanfiction)》Chapter 2: Arrested

Morgan's POV
"I don't think the cuffs are necessary, Agent." I said, sitting in a questioning room. "Then, answer me this; why did you steal Officer Whaley's Taser gun?" Agent Collier asked. Come on! All of this arresting me and being cuffed to a table in the police station is because I used Officer Whaley's Taser gun in a trick? Wow, some law enforcement are so thick headed. "I didn't steal it." I simply said. "Then why was it in your possession?" the agent said, getting up in my face. "It was for a magic trick." I said, pulling my head back from his nasty breath; Italian meatball sandwich from Sammy Subs with extra garlic I believe was his lunch. "Like I will believe that. Magic isn't real. I'd hoped a senior in high school would know that." Agent Collier said, making me flame inside. Why won't some people except that magic is real and get over it? "I don't even know how to use a Taser gun. It's not like I'd hurt anyone. I gave it back afterwards without question." I said. "But you still stole it." The agent said. "Wait, so you'll keep me for quote in quote 'stealing a Taser gun'," I said, making quotation marks with my cuffed hands, "but you'll let go James Carter even though he did steal that quarter of a million dollar necklace from Mrs. Graham? Everyone knows that you have something for his mom." I said, hitting a nerve with the agent. "How do you know that?" he asked. "I won't tell you because you're keeping me here for no legal reason." I said. "Fine, I guess you didn't break a law." Agent Collier said, giving in.
"So, I'm free to go?" I asked. "Not quite. If magic is real, do a magic trick for me." He said, sitting down across from me. Wow, OK. Be like that. "First off, put your hands on either side of mine." I said, him doing so. With one quick wave over his hands, the cuffs flew from my wrists to his. A surprised look came to the agents face. "Do you want the key?" I asked. "Don't play with me, Steel." He said, in an angry tone. I'm presuming that is a yes. I pulled out a deck of cards, shuffled them, adding the cool effects, and fanned out the cards, faced down. "Pick a card. Look at it and put it back in the deck." I said. He pulled out a card, Jack of Diamonds. Of course I didn't see it, but somehow I knew that was it. He looked at it and put it back. I shuffled the deck some more, to make it look like his card was somewhere in the jumble when really it was on top. I took the card off the top and showed it to him. "Your card?" I asked, showing him the Jack of Diamonds. "Yes." He said, a little surprised. "Your card wants to help you since you are letting me leave without any trouble. I'm going to make the Jack of Diamond float to give you your care package." I said, putting the card back on top. I tapped it three times and started to make it float. "Holy crap." Agent Collier said, softly. The card was floating; connected to the card was a key chain with the cuff key on it. "OK. I'm going to leave you now. Good? Goodbye." I said, tossing him the key, grabbing my stuff and heading out the door. I left the police station, running to the school courtyard, arriving just in time for the 3 o'clock bell to ring. It's show time.
