Liam rolled his eyes, a smirk playing on his lips, Zach sighed, 'Liam, I'm sure of it! Just stop making fun of me!' He insisted, Liam crossed his arms, not convinced. 'Oh really, so let's go along with your little theory,' Liam said, 'If you really were a demigod,' Liam reasoned, snickering, 'Then who would be your celestial mother or father?' He challenged, Zach paused.
'If I am a demigod, which I'm certain I am, I think that I would probably be a son of Poseidon, Zeus, or maybe Apollo.' Zach said proudly. Liam was about to say something, but was cut off by Rachel, their best friend at Goode.

Rachel chuckled, 'It seems like you're picking powerful gods.' Rachel commented, Zach huffed, Rachel then continued, 'Besides, you look nothing like any of their children.' She say before looking down at her sketchbook and criticizing her own work. Zach rolled his eyes, before realizing just what Rachel said, he frowned, and glanced at Rachel.
'What do you mean, I look nothing like any of their children?' He asked, Rachel gave a confused smile, before her mouth fell open, her expression almost immediately returned to her usual friendly smile, 'Nothing.' She said, her voice so obviously fake everyone could hear it. One of Zach's friends', Jayden, nudged Rachel, 'The bell's about to ring, let's go.' She muttered through gritted teeth before dragging Rachel away to their next class, Zach sighed before standing up and heading to his next class as well.
Jayden pulled Rachel to the girls' bathroom, 'What were you thinking? You could've have revealed us.' Jayden hissed, Rachel winced, 'I'm sorry Jayden, I wasn't thinking properly. And I assure you, they won't find out.' Rachel promised, mentally praising herself for not swearing on the River Styx, as I was sure we were going to get revealed soon enough.
Zach flashed his teacher, Mrs Reynolds, a smile and sat down at his desk, propping his laptop in front of him to make sure that he finished all of his assigned homework. The bell rang mere seconds later, and Mrs Reynolds let out a sigh at the front of the classroom, 'Morning class, today we're going to go through the roll and daily notices, we'll have inquiry and English, for the period you are going to do self revision.' She explained before typing something on her laptop. 'Aiden,' Mrs Reynolds called out, Aiden replied immediately, Zach sighed, it was going to be a long day.

Zach hurried over to the racks, dropping his laptop into one of the slots, and drawing a tick for the Lunch Order? Sign. He left the class room and bumped into Jayden. 'Hey Jay,' He greeted, before frowning for calling her Jay, only Rachel calls her that, he waited for the punch on the shoulder to come, but it never did. 'Hey το κόκκινο,' She replied, before looking up. Zach frowned. What was that? One thing was for sure, that was Greek. Jay's expression turned to one of shock, 'Zach! Ignore what I just said.' She demanded before running off. Zach scowled, and decided to follow her.
Jayden cursed herself for being such a το κόκκινο, how did she not notice that the voice belonged to a male? She ran to the Art Room, where Rachel should be at the time, and froze, because right in front of her, stood Rachel, frozen in place in front of two Empousai, and she seemed to know exactly who they were.
Jayden turned around to make sure there were no mortals around, and winced when her eyes met Zach's blue ones, he stood there, reaching blindly to his sides, probably trying to find something to protect himself with. 'Zach! lock the door and hide somewhere safe!' Jayden commanded, and Zachary immediately obliged, fiddling with the door lock before diving behind a wide canvas. Once Jayden knew that the one clueless mortal was safe, she grabbed Rachel's wrist and pulled her back, just in time too, as one of the Empousai slashed her whip down, it hitting the floor.
Jayden's eyes widened, the whip left a stinging mark on the ground, purple liquid burning the wooden floorboards. Rachel snapped out of her trance, 'Jay, be careful,' She whispered, and Jayden raised an eyebrow questioningly. 'The two Empousai, Kelli and Tammi.' Rachel muttered, and Jayden sucked in a breath, whispering to Rachel to protect Zach before going into battle stance, muscles tensed.
Zach watched as Rachel fall onto one knee beside him, no sign of fear in her eyes, only worry. Zach's gaze returned to Jayden, who was now standing at the ready in front of the two monster creatures from Greek mythology. A smirk on her face, Jayden flicked her wrists, and the two gold bracelets disappeared from her wrists, Zach's mouth fell into a perfect o, because now, Jayden was holding two glowing gold swords in both hands.

Jayden examined the two Empousai, ducking down and rolling to her left when she noticed Tammi's arm tense at the slightest, she smirked as Tammi tossed her sword towards where Jayden used to stand, it stood straight down. Jayden felt relieved that she wasn't impaled by sword, the visible poison dripping down the blade.
Kelli let out a frustrated growl, hurling her whip in every direction, Jayden ducked left and right, avoiding the whip that splattered poison left and right. Rachel knew that Jayden couldn't do that forever, she reached around the tabletop behind her, smiling when she brought a wrench and hammer to her face, why they were there, Rachel didn't know, but she did know that she had a splendid throw, from her practice with Kronos, she smiled at the memory, before returning back to reality.
'Jayden!' Rachel shouted before hurling the hammer right at the center of Tammi's head, she collapsed to the ground, yelping in surprise as she did. Jayden smirked, nodding in thanks before snapping her fingers, appearing behind Tammi. With a suck of her breath, Jayden stabbed Tammi in the stomach, the Empousa howled as she headed back to Tartarus.
Jayden whipped her head towards where Kelli stood, shocked. She took that moment to slash her sword at Kelli, unfortunately, the experienced Empousa dodged the attack, sending one of her own, Jayden cried out in pain as venom splattered onto her forearm. Rachel watched as Jayden touched the burn, clenching her hands into fists to bare the pain.
Zach's eyes widened at the sight of his friend injured, but helpless to do anything. He turned to Rachel, whose eyes were dark with anger, he noticed her hands curl into fists, confused.
Rachel's eyes glowed green, a more vibrant emerald in contrast to her mint green eyes, and green smoke surrounded her feet, Zach's breath hitched as Rachel stalked up to Kelli, picking up the sword that had fallen from Jayden's hand, and attached with determination Zach had never seen on the red head's face, Kelli coughed, Rachel smirked, Jayden's sword buried in the Empousa's chest.
'Next time, think before attacking a daughter of Apollo who is my best friend.' Rachel snarled, the Empousa coughed again, "Who are you?' Kelli asked, and Rachel showed a small smirk, 'I am Rachel Elizabeth Dare, clear sighted mortal, and the Oracle Of Delphi.' She whispered, before removing the sword from Kelli's body, the Empousa disappearing in gold dust. Jayden limped to Rachel, taking the sword from her hand. Rachel looked slightly shaken up, Jayden smiled, 'Nice job Dare.' She commented, and Rachel let out an easy laugh.
Zach stood up, mouth agape, 'What the hell just happened?' He asked, and Rachel shook her head slightly, a smile on her face, 'Nothing Zach, nothing. Just....the Oracle and a demigod battling monsters...' She finished, Jayden chuckled at her friend's antics, before suggesting having a 'Nicky' teleport them back to 'Camp', Rachel scowled.
'No. I already told you, Will would kill us.' She reminded Jayden as the two walked away. Zach stood there, before laughing, he been friends with the Oracle of Delphi and a demigod this whole time!

The Cosmic Interloper
Synopsis: A cyborg transhuman escapes her corporate indenture and through unfathomably unlikely circumstances, she ends up in a fantasy world of full of unique magic, angry people with sharp implements, and the whole flavor-spectrum of divine entities. Hilarity ensues. Features: - No blue boxes or cultivation, this is not a LitRPG nor about martial arts - Hard-ish Sci-Fi meets hard-ish magic - Generally trying to keep this "rational" Rationale: My primary goal with The Cosmic Interloper is to write something that I myself would enjoy reading. Of course, that’s not the only motivation, but I think it’s the most important one for me to keep in mind, especially as the author. In fact, this whole story came about because after consuming oodles of fiction, I found myself craving a very specific type of story which I couldn’t find many examples of. Then I asked myself, “why not write it myself?” and here we are. Disclaimer: In general, while I’m not writing a comedy, I do intend for this story to be funny and a bit wacky or absurd. That said though, I am using this story as a vehicle to explore some potentially dark topics including (but not limited to) slavery, speciesism/racism, and existential questions of self, consciousness, and identity. Still, I’m going to leave the “traumatizing content” tags off, because I don’t feel that what I’ve written so far (or plan on writing) exceeds the threshold that would be necessary for me to tag it thusly. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way she views the world is not the objective truth (if such a thing even exists).
