《Demigods Meet Mortals》Michael Yew Jackson (Demigods)

Michael Jackson was always a curious boy. Everyone knew that they couldn't surprise him with anything, because most likely, he'd already found out. So when Michael found his parents that morning, going through a grey box. The young Jackson boy could see his father pick up a beaded necklace, his mother picking up a Yankees cap, they also looked at photos, and there was even a ballpoint pen inside for some reason. Michael wanted to find out what was inside the box, and why he had never seen it before.
♡
The whispers from his parents' room had died down thirty minutes ago. The lights were off as well, Michael made his way downstairs, pointing his flashlight towards the space behind a collection of books, where his mother, Annabeth Jackson, had hid it. There were two collections in front of it: Percy Jackson and The Olympians, and Heroes of Olympus. Michael's parents had told him they were journals they had written with friends years ago. The blond pushed those books aside, sliding the grey box off the shelf and onto the floor, his grey-ish green eyes gleaming with glee. Michael opened the lid, placing it on the floor beside him before looking inside the box.
The first thing he found was two necklaces. They were both a black leather rod with hand-crafted beads looped on. One had eleven beads on it, the other had eighteen with a pink coral hooked on. The designs were detailed, he could see a bead with a trident, one with the letters SPQR, one with what seemed to be a statue of a woman holding a shield and something in her other hand. Michael put the necklaces aside and picked up a picture.
It was slightly faded, but not by much. There were about twelve or so teenagers in the shot. Some wore purple shirts that had the words Camp Jupiter on them, and some wore orange shirts that said Camp Half-Blood. The weirdest fact was that all the kids were holding weapons, and despite the blood on them and the cuts littered on their arms and legs, they were all smiling. A short emo kid seemed to be laughing in the shot as he punched a taller blond boy with glasses in the arm. While a couple who Michael figured were his parents, were sharing a short kiss. Jackson put the picture aside, pulling out two camp shirts, identical to the orange ones in the shot. Perseus Jackson and Annabeth Chase were scribbled on their respective shirts.

The next thing inside was a slightly wrinkled Yankees cap. After that was a ballpoint pen. Which Michael found strange, why was there a pen inside? But that was when he noticed the last item.
It was what seemed to be an Ancient Greek gold coin. Michael hoped that the dry red stain on the edge of the coin wasn't blood.
'Michael Yew Jackson what in Zeus' name do you think you're doing?' His father demanded. Michael stilled, turning around slowly. 'I'm sorry dad, it's just that I saw you and mum holding the box this morning and I wanted to see what was inside.' Michael said, rambling a little. He might've been snoopy, but he wasn't a good liar - which meant Michael didn't even bother trying to lie. Percy Jackson's expression softened a little, but Annabeth's didn't, her eyes did go wide when she saw the coin in Michael's hand. Weirdly enough, Percy's breathing quickened. He sat down next to Michael, taking the coin from his son's hand.
'Dad, what are these things? Why were you holding weapons?' Michael asked, and Annabeth smiled faintly, running her finger over the beaded necklace with the coral fondly. She turned to Percy. 'Should we tell him?' Michael's father frowned slightly. 'Tell him.' He finally breathed out, sounding sad. And so Annabeth Jackson did just that, telling her son of she and Percy's adventures as teenagers with their friends.

'Wait.' Michael said, glancing briefly at the image of his parents and their friends.
'You guys said you wanted to name after someone who died that you missed, why not Jason Grace? I mean - he was one of your best friends.' Michael's parents exchanged sad smiles, and Percy faced his son for the first time that night.

'Remember when your mother told you about the second Titan War?' Percy asked, and Michael nodded. 'Well, when I made that bridge collapse, I lost a friend of mine who was on the bridge - Michael Yew, son of Apollo. We named you after him because everyone else died in their own times, they knew their time was up. But Michael. . .He was just like Beckendorf, his life was about to begin. And he hadn't chose to die, my mistake and impatience brought that onto him.' Percy said softly, for once his expression serious. Michael bit his lip, his parents were part of the most powerful demigods of their time.
'Now that you know Michael, they know too.' Annabeth said, and Michael nodded. She meant monsters. 'So you're going to Camp Half-Blood, and we will too. Meet up with some old friends.' Percy said wistfully. He hated war, yes, but the son of Poseidon wouldn't give up the life he had for anything.
