《Michael and Sara One-Shots (Misa)》2x20 We've Got To Go Back (Pt. 2)

Michael and Lincoln approached the boat that would take them wherever they wanted to go. It was the final step in their plan. They were free men. Lincoln ran happily on board, their arguments long forgotten in his mind. Michael hung back, still in pain from all the recent events.
"This is amazing man." he heard Lincoln said excitedly.
"All we need to do is inspect the boat and we can leave." Michael said as upbeat as possible. It was just enough for Lincoln to buy.
"Already ahead of you man." Lincoln said while going under the deck. Michael sighed knowing what he was about to do. He took out a small piece of paper from his pocket and placed it on the dock. He regretted leaving his brother but he had no other choice. If he left her behind he would never forgive himself.
He turned and ran off before he saw the look in his brother's eyes. Because with one glance he would give in and go with him in order to not disappoint him. Michael looked back once before disappearing over the hill on his way to the bus stop.

Sara woke up groggily, light rudely pouring into her eyes. She shook her head slightly to rid the cobwebs so she could see clearly. As her eyes adjusted to the light she took in her surroundings. She was in a hospital bed. She moved her hand to reach her face but was met with resistance. She looked down and saw her wrist cuffed the to bed. She sighed and closed her eyes again. She felt slight pain in her arm but the thought was dismissed as soon as she heard a voice.
"Welcome back Miss Tancredi." A lady said. Sara opened her eyes again and saw a nurse standing in front of her, checking the IV.
"Why am I here?" Sara asked confused.
"You fainted in the van so you were escorted here." A man's voice said. She looked towards the door to see Mahone standing there.
"I don't remember that happening." Sara said still trying to wake herself up.
"That is common when fainting Miss." the nurse told her. Sara nodded and looked back at Mahone.
"Why are you still here?" she asked him. "Shouldn't there be guards watching me or something? Isn't that standard procedure?"
"Well actually Sara there has been a development in your case." he said with some frustration. "It appears that you are being released." Sara couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"Wha–what do you mean? How?" Sara asked in disbelief.
"Your lawyers got a court order and they told us to release you." he walked over and unlocked her cuffs. "If you try to leave the country we will arrest you again." he said angrily. He leaned closer to her ear so only she could hear him. "If you try to contact him, trust me, I will find you and will make you watch as I kill him." with that he released her and walked out of the room.
Within an hour Sara was released from the hospital free and clear of any charges against her. She thought better than to question exactly what had taken place. She was free and Michael was far away from here. The thought made her daydream of them together but she knew it wasn't possible. Mahone's threat lingered in the back of her mind as she made her way to her apartment.

"We're all set." Lincoln called from inside the boat. "Michael?" he asked when he heard no response. He climbed out from inside the boat and stepped on the dock. He looked around but found no sight of his brother. "Michael?!" he called again with no answer. A small rustling noise caught his attention and he looked down. A small piece of paper under a rock laid on the ground in from of him. He sighed and picked it up.
Linc,
I'm sorry. If I went with you now I would never be able to forgive myself for ruining her life and not even attempting to fix it. I will be back, but this time it will be with her. I'm sorry I had to leave you. Please, don't wait for us. You deserve to be free. We will all be together again soon. I hope you can understand.
-M
Lincoln sighed heavily. He knew this was most likely going to happen, but he had no other choice. He had gotten his freedom and he wouldn't waste it. With a heavy heart he entered the boat once again and left the dock to a place he didn't know.

Michael arrived on the same dock he had left the day before by nightfall. He pushed his hat down further to hide his face from any lingering cops. On his way towards the road, he saw a newspaper that he quickly grabbed. He flipped through the pages until he saw a headline that made his heart beat faster.

He couldn't believe what he had read. After reading it over three more times to make sure it was real, he tossed the paper aside and ran towards her apartment. It wasn't far from where he was. About 5 miles or so. Within twenty minutes he could see the outline of her apartment building. It was completely dark by the time he rounded the corner.
He inspected the cars around to make sure he wasn't followed and she wasn't being watched. He spotted a car just outside of her place. Blending into the shadows he made his way over to her door and twisted the handle. To his surprise it was unlocked. He opened the door quietly and made his way inside.

Sara finally made it back to her apartment just before it got dark. She was exhausted after the past few days of questioning, not to mention on top of all of it she was dealing with her own emotions. It was no wonder she had fainted in the van.
She went directly to her room to change out of her clothes and take a shower. She wanted so badly to rid herself of the last few days. She let the hot water roll off her shoulders as she released the tension she had been feeling. She thought about Michael and tried to guess where in the world they were right now. She sighed softly and sadly. She wished she could be with him. She thought back to their conversation while he was still in prison.
"Every been to Baja?" he asked her in an attempt to calm her down after what she had just been through. "Theres this great place down there." he continued. "Twenty bucks a night. Hammock on the back deck. Beers are fifty cents." He paused and she smiled at him. "Twenty five cents at happy hour."
She smiled at the memory and wondered if he was there now enjoying a peaceful night of freedom with his brother. Exhaustion crept back into her mind and she got out of the shower. She quickly dried off and changed before getting into her bed. She closed her eyes and within moments she was asleep, dreaming of the man she had sacrificed her freedom for.
Sara felt a hand close around her mouth and she woke up. She screamed, but the sound was muffled due to the stranger's hand. Fear and panic rose in her throat as she struggled with the intruder. The person held her down but she refused to calm down.
"Sara!" the stranger called to her. She stopped fighting immediately as she recognized the voice and the hands slowly released her.
"Michael?" she asked in disbelief. She felt him shift and the once pitch black room became lit by the small lamp on the side of the bed. The light lit up his face and with no hesitation she collapsed against him. She felt him smile and hug her tightly. "What are you doing here?" she asked. "You should be half way around the world by now."
"I couldn't leave you behind like that." He said as he kissed the top of her head gently. He pushed her back slightly so she could see his face. "Why did you do it Sara?" he asked with sadness written across his face.
"I had no choice Michael. They were following me and if I didn't turn myself in, you wouldn't have been able to disappear." she explained.
"But you would have been in jail for the rest of your life." he told her worriedly.
"I was willing to take that chance." she said with a small smile. He returned the smile and brought her closer to him once again.
"Thank you." he whispered into her ear. She nodded into his chest.
"We need to leave. Now." he said after a few minutes. Mahone's warning flooded to the front of her mind but she pushed the thought aside. I'll be ready in a second she said while crawling out of bed. She looked at the clock. It was the middle of the night still. It would be the perfect time to leave. She walked over to her closet and put on a change of clothes before heading out to her kitchen where Michael was now waiting.
"There's a car out front keeping an eye on you. We'll have to sneak out back." he informed her. She looked at him surprised but didn't ask any questions. He took her hand and gave her a quick kiss. "Are you ready?" he asked her. She nodded and they took off towards the back door.

I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room
The universe is a very strange place. It will take even stranger heroes to save it."Absurd. Existential. Ridiculous. Tragic. Comic. The antiheroes of "I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room" are a kind of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern with space packs, inadvertently colliding with their destinies against a starry background of witty wordplay. With a vision as sprawling and limitless as the loveably goofy universe in which it's set, Browning's wit, wisdom and heart are always at play, combining to form a wonderfully panoramic and very silly heroes' journey that visits every trope of its overlapping genres and draws moustaches on all of them."- Marcel St. Pierre, author of "Vengeful Hank" and "Cliché and Wind Go Hitchhiking".(Sci-fi /Dark Humour/Absurd) *Completed!
