《Michael and Sara One-Shots (Misa)》4x05 Confession

Michael sat next to Sara at the dock listening to her explain the research she had found while he was out copying the new card. He cherished the small moments they got to be alone, even if they had to discuss what their next move was. He missed spending more alone time with her.
As she spoke he paid close attention to her voice, memorizing every word she said and how she said it. Just the sound of her voice cleared his thoughts and calmed his nerves. They had been exhausting themselves trying to stop the Company and moments like these helped refresh his mind. Sara had stopped talking for a moment and he felt tension radiating off of her.
"I was at a bar earlier today." she said suddenly. His eyes shot up to her face to try and read her, his heard dropped and he became worried. She met his eyes frantically. "And nothing happened, and I didn't drink. But..." she said quickly. She seemed panicked at what his reaction would be. He shifted his weight so he was facing her more, showing her that she had his full attention.
"Look, i..if this is too much for you..." he started.
"No no." she replied shaking her head.
"Because, say the word and we'll scrap the whole thing." he told her.
"No–"
"That's a promise." he said. He tried reaching her with his words. She had to know that her health was the most important thing to him. Not some mission they were forced into.
"It's not going to happen again." she said while looking at him in the eyes. Her gaze softened as she paused. He waited, looking at her with a comforting expression. "But it would be a lie not to tell you, and I... I want you to know that I'll never lie to you." she explained to him. She looked broken and he thought she might cry. She shook her head and looked down with guilt written on her face. "I'm sorry." she said quietly.

Without hesitation, Michael lifted her head and kissed her gently, telling her that he was there for her and she didn't have to feel ashamed. She pulled away after a few seconds and rested her head on his chest. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her in closer.
"Sara..." he trailed off slightly and she raised her head a bit, waiting for him to continue. "If you ever feel like there's too much going on or you feel like you want to go back to..." he trialed off again not wanting to make her uncomfortable. "You can always talk to me. Even if you find yourself in that place again, you can reach out to me and I will be there with you. I will drop everything and be there for you. I'll always support you." he said while placing a kiss on her head.
"Thank you Michael. You have no idea how much that means to me." she told him while burying her head into his chest again. He held her for a few minutes comforting her.
"I'm proud of you." he said disrupting the silence. He looked down to where her eyes were and she met his gaze. He gave her a little smile. "I can't imagine how hard it was for you to stop yourself, but you did. And even though you went there, you should not feel guilty or ashamed. This is your fight, but you're not going to be alone in it anymore. I won't leave your side." he expressed to her. He wiped the few tears that escaped her eyes and she kissed him.
"I love you." she said. He smiled and kissed her again.
"I love you too." he replied. He vowed to himself in that moment that he would never let anyone or anything hurt her again. He would always be there to support her till the day he died.

Homecoming | A Chronicles of Ascension Story
When Jethen was captured by slavers, his childhood was torn from him and left shattered half a world away. When he finds himself back home decades later, by methods he does not fully understand, he finds that the life he has lived has changed him far more than he knew. In a home he no longer knows. Places and people at the same time familiar and foreign, he must decide - stay and help with his parent's business, or return to the land that remade him and the family he made there. --------- Homecoming started as just a short story to break an episode of writers block. It has since morphed well beyond that into a novel in it's own right, and may well end up with a sequel. The writing of Homecoming became a bit of a self induced challenge to improve my initial, first brush, writing quality. Each chapter was written raw, given a once over read and edit, and then posted. In this way I am forcing myself to write better from the start. I do hope you enjoy the story and will leave a comment or review, and if you see an issue, feel free to let me know as well. I know it is not nearly perfect, and it will get a full and proper edit once I am done. Never hurts to fix things along the way though. As an additional note. The story has undergone a structural rework and has been reposted in an updated structure and sequence of chapters. If you have read this story already, I invite you to do so again in this new structure.
