《Raised by Heroes》Chapter 27

"So you guys released the animals out in Vegas?" Mika asked Annabeth as she got out of the shower with fresh new clothes to sleep in, finished listening to what had happened at the truck Annabeth was in with Percy and Grover. "You do realize that the Lion might eat the Gazelle and the Zebra right?"
"When you say it like that...I'll try not to think about it," Annabeth mumbled as she started to read a book she borrowed from the hotel's mini-library.
After what had happened at the Lotus Casino, they went to a non-magical hotel to stay just for the night. After buying some new clothes to wear (With Mika's borrowed credit card), they went to their hotel rooms to rest for tomorrow.
Percy and Grover stayed in one room, while Annabeth and Mika were in another.
"Now that I thought about it...you didn't have to help us. You're interfering with the quest" Annabeth said to Mika as she combed her wet hair. "Everyone needs help once in a while and it's a weird coincidence but, I should just accept lending a hand once or twice," She said to the Athena kid who was silent from her answer.
"Are you sure you're not a demigod? You held back a minotaur and killed a Hellhound. Not to mention you escaped from Echidna." Annabeth asked which made her giggle
"If I was one, I would've entered that barrier from camp without permission from Chiron. If that's what it's called. So I am mortal." Mika answered and turned to her.
"Besides that, it's already Nine! Can't we just watch HBO till we sleep?" She said with an annoyed 'No-more-questions-just-because' face.
✬✧✿✧✬
"Are you awake?" Mika looked at Annabeth who had her eyes closed, regular breathing and unmoving limbs. After poking her cheek for safe measures, she left the room quietly.
She arrived in another hotel room; where the servants were residing in. Cu Proto was laying down on a bed next to Cu Lancer, Jason and Achilles were sitting on another; Altria and Hector were leaning against the walls while Medea Lily stood next to the door.
"Is your friend asleep now, Mika?" Cu Lancer asked and the young girl nodded, "The Lily here soundproofed the room, you can talk with ease." Altria said and Medea Lily confirmed it.
"So, please tell us what's happening with this quest your friends are in."
Mika nodded, starting to explain what had happened at the museum, the Minotaur, then a little about Camp half-blood.
"...He said that the Master bolt has been stolen and those three are now on a quest to get it." She said and everyone was surprised.
"You've got to be kidding me," Hector muttered
"I'm not joking! It just happened last Christmas and Zeus is blaming Percy." Mika said.
"Wait, why would he blame him? He's just a kid, and I doubt he's that stealthy" Cu Proto asked
"He isn't. But Zeus is blaming it on him since he's the son of Poseidon." Mika sighed.
"Wait wait wait-Poseidon!? Your friend is a big three's kid!?" Jason said in shock.
"Well Mika, this is why you can't trust all the Greek Gods. Even if they ask nicely or if you owe them" Medea Lily told her.
"Mostly Zeus, I think he lost a screw when Athena was born," Hector commented.

"Didn't he turn one of his wives to a bug and ate her before that?" Altria asked.
"I think he also married his Sister afterwards..?" Proto Cu muttered
"Anyways. Does that quest have a Prophecy?" Achilles was the one who asked Mika, who explained what the Prophecy was.
"...Besides that, they suspect it was Hades who ordered someone to take the bolt, but I doubt it's him. Though I do think there's a reason we had a Fury as an Algebra teacher" Mika explained.
"He has the Underworld to rule over so it is most unlikely, do you have a suspect?" Medea Lily asked.
"Just one, I think it's..."
^>*-Mika's pov.-*
As soon as I left the room, I went back to my room and slept beside Annabeth without waking her up.
Thus began the strange yet worrying dream.
~•~
I 'woke up' to see an everlasting garden of flowers that I've usually dreamt of.
But something felt wrong, grey clouds were rolling over the sky and it felt humid and salty instead of a cool breeze and a sunny day to roll down on a small hill.
I knelt to feel the ground, the soil's muddy which is very concerning, the plants are going to drown at this point.
"Merlin! Are you messing with my dream or something?!" I said out loud, I waited but no one showed up...
While I was thinking about how to find the half-incubi, the ground had rumbled hard which made me tumble to the ground in surprise.
The earthquake was a very long one before it ended, and water seemed to rise like the ocean to the shore, but the soil seemed to soak it all around as if it was trying to keep the water away from me.
The winds were getting heavy as the flowers swayed harshly in the breeze, and a whisper was heard.
'Remember who you owe...' It said in a man's voice.
Staggering up, I kept hearing the words 'Remember' until I heard a familiar roar that had resemblances to a cow.
Suddenly a large hand had grabbed me from behind, I yelped and turned my head to see the Minotaur that almost killed me.
"Shit, Merlin this is not funny!!" I screamed which was a very bad idea since the monster's grip was tightening on me
But suddenly, large, thick, thorny vines shot up to hold down the Minotaur in a quick second, extending to its arm that was holding onto me.
The vines on the beast's wrists immediately tightened leading to a pained groan from the monster, until a sickening snap was heard as most of its bones broke, blood gushed beneath the vines that were on the beast and the hand that held me had no tension as I fell to the ground as the Minotaur lifelessly stood there like a scarecrow wrapped under the thorn vines that had squeezed its life out like a snake to its prey.
'Run! Run and never look back!' The wind whispered with the voice of a familiar wizard.
As the wind had said, I started running through the meadow trying to wake up by widening my eyes more, it usually worked but I was still running in a wet field of flowers.
Though what was I running from? The Minotaur-
A roar was heard behind me, you've got to be shitting me!
"WHAT THE LIVING HELL IS THIS FUCKING NIGHTMARE!!" I yelled to nobody until I saw that I was heading towards a cliff.

Like a madman, I jumped
Stupid? Yes
But I am in a dream after all so it doesn't count.
The Minotaur's roar was carried off by the wind that was blowing the hairs across my face.
Body folding outward, I curved my back more like a crescent. Once my legs swung over by gravity, I tucked my knees in and swiftly landed on the ground in a crouched position.
Sensing someone (by instinct) behind me, I quickly turned around but calmed as I saw it was just Merlin.
"You better have a good explanation Merlin," I muttered, "It wasn't my doing, I swear!" He said and sat down beside me, explaining that someone was interfering with my dream but he was trying to block it.
"We agreed to not meddle in your dreams," Merlin said. "He was asked to do this and has verified an explanation for us, he left a moment before you jumped off the cliff though," He said.
That was a fast agreement then, time doesn't work properly in dreams after all...
"But who did you agree with?" I asked and he ruffled my hair,
"Hypnos. You remember what your teacher told you about him right?" He asked and I nodded. The Greek god of sleep and son of Nyx and Erebos and the twin of Thanatos.
Merlin explained that Hypnos was asked by Poseidon to tell me to go protect Percy on his quest since I owed him when he stalled the Minotaur into killing me.
"I did owe him for that, but Percy's main team right now are Grover and Annabeth. Plus three is a sacred number to them." I said and Merlin agreed but spoke again, "Well since that Sea god asked you, it's your quest to protect Percy right? He's permitting you to go with their quest."
I was surprised for a moment then placed my head on my palm with a sigh, "But what do you think I should do after I wake up? I'm honestly confused on what to do."
Though I am mostly annoyed. Percy may be a kelp-head but he has Annabeth and Grover with him. But with Poseidon asking me without my word of agreement I am still confused on whether or not I'm interfering with fate already!
"Well if this was the real world, I would offer you tea and some advice. But for now, just clear your head and think about whether or not you would help soon after. You still need training since you still forget short details whenever the fight is at its peak, but you've come a long way to even gain Zelretch's attention for some reason." Merlin said and the last one kinda caught me off-guard.
Zelretch, as in Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg? I heard of him...But I don't think I had ever seen him before...
"What do you mean by his attention?" I asked.
"I meant that card you got from him. The one that has a lancer on it? You remember don't you?"
"But it doesn't make any sense. Do you think I should ask Illya? She did say something about cards that turn someone to a part heroic spirit."
"Whatever you want, but right now you should use that card wisely. I've seen what you did in the amusement park and I think you can do it again, Enkidu is powerful in your situation after all."
"Being the chains of heaven, your right. But there were all sorts of voices in my head saying about using it, some were familiar too."
"Oh? Do tell"
That I did, and he seemed curious by that as well "Hmm...maybe you can use other Lancer-class abilities other than Enkidu?" Gaining a small idea, if I were to follow my friends to the underworld...
"It's a hypothesis, what do you think first?" Merlin said and looked up, then he frowned. "It seems our time is up, your going to have to wake up now."
"Okay, but we'll continue this soon...right?" I asked
"Only time will tell. I wish you an early happy birthday though!" He said and a bright light appeared.
~•~
I blinked my eyes open to see the hotel room and Annabeth who still slept by my side.
"I hate dreams..." I mumbled as I moved to a comfortable position.
"I'm so stupid too...why didn't I use any weapons in that dream? Ugh...darn deities messing my sleep...Stupid Author..." I muttered in my pillow which was an Idiotic move since Annabeth's eyes fluttered opened sleepily.
"Mika...? What's wrong?" She asked and I began to contemplate whether or not to say anything.
Plus how do I explain that one of her gods wanted me to join Percy's quest? Should I do it now??
"Mika?"
I should do it now.
"Nothing, but I do have to ask. I would like to accompany you, Percy and Grover, to your quest. You will accept, yes? Nod if you do..." I said partly with a Hypnotic move like what happened back at the arch.
Seeing her slowly nod, I smiled "Thanks, you won't regret it. I'll pay for the trip tomorrow as thanks, Goodnight." I said and saw her eyes close with her body fully relaxed.
Mission accomplished.

-No One's POV.-
"Mika's coming with us!?" Percy said in surprise and Annabeth nodded, before glancing at the girl talking to her relatives. "She asked last night...and I couldn't say no," She said "Are you sure about this? She's mortal and could get hurt-" Grover said before stopping himself, remembering what she did in school and camp, mumbling a never mind.
"Well, she could help us with that card of hers," Annabeth said, who was still confused by who sent it to Mika. "Those chains seem powerful too." She mumbled and the trio heard Mika call for them.
"Okay, I got permission! Let's go to the train station!" Mika said, looking hyped as if she grabbed a cup of coffee.
"Train Station? I was thinking about grabbing a cab though." Annabeth said.
"I'm just indulging you guys in my riches, be delighted that we'll at least not go hungry on the way," Mika said, using a Gilgamesh move. "Plus it seems faster, a cab takes most of the day to get there really."
"How about hitching a ride with your relatives? They seem nice..." Percy said and stopped when looking around for them. "Where are they anyway?"
"They left." Mika shrugged, "They already know that I can take care of myself. It's not a problem," She said before ushering them to a cab to buy a ticket and catch a train.
To Los Angeles here they come!!

Toothpick
“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
