It was here. The day I'd been dreading. The Yule Ball. Classes were cancelled, and all I could hear was squealing girls from when I woke up, to when I slammed my dorm door shut to get ready. Yes. To get ready. Cho has begged and pleaded and I felt to bad, so I finally gave in yesterday to go.
Sirius had sent me a gown that belonged to my grandmother, and it was a simple black satin dress - but it cling to my curves and was elegant. I didn't really try heat with my makeup. I came to my dorm 45 minutes before it started, got changed, slightly curled my hair, but my family crest necklace on, put a small bit of mascara and balm on, and left. I was really doing this for a good time - not for appearances.
However, when I came down the staircase a lot of people seemed to stare at me. I automatically turned around, to see who they were staring at, but I was slightly late, so the top of the stairs were empty. I didn't look very different to how I did everyday, but still I caught some boys staring. Even Pucey was looking at me, so I winked at him and smirked, making him blush as I walked by. I approached Cho and Cedric - they looked so perfect and happy
"Ready to be the happiest third wheel you've ever seen!" I said, as I came up behind them. Cedric and Cho turned to me, wearing faces of surprise and wonder.
"Y/N! You look so stunning!" Cho gushed.
"Can't believe my best friend rejected 5 boys and makes them all stare at her - but comes by herself." Cedric teased, laughing.
I grinned back at Ced, laughing with him.

"Couldn't let anyone bring me now could I?" I replied.
I let the two lovebirds be, and made my way into the great hall. It had been transformed into a beautiful winter wonderland, with icicles hanging from the ceiling, and ice sculptures in the corners. There was even a section with snow - curtesy of Professor Flitwick and his sweet little charms.
Then, I saw him. Fred Weasley, with that pathetic girl Romilda clinging onto his arm. She really was a waste of space. I hadn't felt this much hatred to her, but she was so annoying and I couldn't bear her anymore. I didn't want to go over to my friends, because they were with the couple. So, I did something that made everyone's, heads turn, which I didn't really like, but I'm sure Dad would be impressed. I walked over to my second cousin and his date. Draco Malfoy.
"Hello there dear cousin." I said as I approached them.
Me and Draco had a sort of respect for one another, but we didn't grow up together. My aunt Andromeda was disowned by the Black family, and her sister was Draco's mother - we were blood relatives, but I'd only seen him a few times. Both me and Draco were heirs to the Black fortune, but instead of trying to raise us both to honour our family name, they shut me out.
I think that's why Draco left me alone, and sent me Christmas cards every year - to prove he didn't want to shut me out. But, I was still a Gryffindor, so he didn't love me.
"Hello Y/N.." He greeted me. Draco could see the stares everyone was giving us. He leaned in and whispered in my ear
"They probably think we're secretly dating - not many people know we're related Y/N." He smirked at me.

"If only they knew that we came from a line of troublemakers." I smirked back at him. I then turned to his date, she was very pretty. I believe she was from Beauxbaton, so I attempted some basic French.
"Tu es magnifique ce soir!" I exclaimed. Draco raised his eyebrows at me - no one knew I spoke French.
"Merci beaucoup! Tu es magnifique toi-même!" She replied. I'd made her smile, so I'd made Draco smile. I turned to the bleach blonde.
"She seems nice - don't hurt her will you?" I pleaded. I knew my devilish cousin was a notorious player in the school.
"Why would I make an exception?" He asked slyly.
"I don't think you want the school to know your cousin is a Gryffindor do you?" I innocently replied, a massive smirk on my face.
"Blackmail." He sighed.
"Pun intended there Draco?" I said, as I turned and left to go to one of the tables.
It was quite a fun night. George danced with me out of sympathy - he knew I liked Fred and was upset. I also danced with Cedric - I was the only girl he danced with except for Cho. And I danced with Blaise Zabini - a friend of Draco's. I was in a few classes with him, and he was quite funny, we had a laugh despite the house rivalry. He was good looking too, but he was respectful of boundaries, so he walked me back to my common room, before kissing my cheek and leaving. Maybe I could get over Fred? I mean, I'd only recently realised I had feelings for him - surely I could get over them quickly? Especially with a guy like Zabini....

Zeke Herald, Goblin Slayer
Zeke wakes up inside a small cavemouth, no memories or direction, just the will to live. Also, he's smack dab in the middle of a forest that's teeming with ugly little goblins. The only good goblin is one with a sword sticking out of it, as my father used to say. I tried to incorperate LitRPG elements. I'm only recently introduced to the genre, but I find it really fasinating! So intrigued I even started writing a little story expressing my joy of all things numerical! This story has a focus on hardwork and deliberate progression, no magical deus ex machinas here sorry.
