《Ribbons & Rumors》three

An ear piercing scream & a loud crash to end it echoed throughout the school.
The school seemed to go dead silent. So silent, you could hear a pin drop from the third floor. All conversations were abruptly stopped, & everyone walking or passing by had stopped dead in their tracks.
I looked around at my "fellow students" as all their gaze landed all on the same thing.
Lila Akone was laying face down, on the first floor of the school. Smack dab, in front of the stairs.
She was drenched in a pool of blood, soaking her uniform & the tips of her blonde hair.
No one could say anything or do anything. All they could do was stare in shock & horror that one of their classmates was suddenly dead in front of them.
Many kids started to surround the area, chattering & screaming at the event that had just played out right in front of them. Kids emerged from other classes, & even from the floors from above. What became a few people surrounding the body, become swarms of people trying to see the crime scene.
I looked around at the many horrified faces, & some crying. I searched for Akari - which wasn't to hard. She still stood there, Lila's head close to her feet. Both of her hands cupped over her mouth, the color in her face gone, & her eyes were striken with fear. Aoi had moved off to the side holding her stomach, trying not to hurl from the awful stench of the metallic blood & the site of her so-called friend.
I smiled to myself; the rumor had been a success.
Usually, my rumors didn't end up being this extreme. What usually seemed to play out is a girl or a guy would complain about something basic. Such as, their enemy is being mean, they lost their best friend to another, or a hopeless romantic wanting their crush to love them back.
It was always low-key, & would create peace within the walls of the dreary school. Since, well, that is my job after all as a wonder.
Whoo-hoo.
Sense the semi-sarcasm?
But this time, I felt this urge to start a riot. Have something change for once, make a bigger impact than usual. What Akari told me, made my blood boil. A spark went off inside of me, a fire burn within my soul - or what's left of it.

Lila needed to learn her lesson. What she did was worse than what I've seen or heard from now & years past that. & so she learned her lesson, & will now be unable to hurt someone like that again. & I hope it shows everyone in the school, that this is what happens to evil people like her & them.
It was only a few minutes until the bell rung, & teachers ran out of classes to direct students away from the sudden incident. Only seconds shortly after that, sirens rang throughout the air. Red & blue lights were flashing, as many police officers & medics pulled up to the school. They started to file in, as the bell was muffled by the roaring sirens.
I slowly watched as Akari walked to class with Aoi still holding her stomach. Akari's looked like she was still in shock, maybe a little bit of distress. But in my heart & mind, I feel like she was even a little bit happy that she will finally never harass her ever again.
"That's enough staring, get to class." a tall professor in a coat huffed, pushing & prodding me along with the other groups of kids to get to class.
I rolled my eyes as I went along with it, knowing exactly who it was.
All I could say is: hopefully, he doesn't know it was me who caused this to happen.
Continuing to get ushered up the stairs, I walked into my science classroom & took a seat in the back. The last bell for class to begin rang. As the same professor sighed, he began to start lecturing the class about some star in the distant sky, acting as if someone didn't just die.
Everyone around me pretended to pay attention, a few actually & jotting down notes. Many sat there in silence, deadpan expressions on their faces or so pale, they could be mistaken as a ghost.
But many, were whispering to one another.
A smile arose to my face, not even having to listen in, as I knew exactly what was leaving their mouths.
~
'Did you hear, about Lila Akone? I heard she fell down the stairs connecting to the first & second levels of the school...it was said to be very bloody & tragic. What a sad happenstance...but at least no one has to listen to her run her mouth on & on about disgusting gossip & lies.'

When the end of the day came, when the last bell screamed throughout every inch of the school, every underclassman & upperclassman seemed to know what happened to Lila.
As all the kids filed quickly out of the school, I stood there in my school uniform & "human" form. I waited a little bit, just to make sure all the students were gone for the day. All club activities & meetings had been cancelled due to the accident, but I just wanted to make sure just in case.
Half-way to walking to the school garden, with the same flick of the hand to change into a fox, I changed back into my normal ghost-human form. I stretched my arms over my head, & popped my back lightly.
"God, those uniforms are comfy...but I sure did miss my kimono." I laughed to myself, happy with the work that had been done today.
Many people had spoken about me & the rumor of Lila dying in front of the stairs - which was now all cleaned up & smelled of lavender dish-soap. I was excited to see in the next few days, or maybe even today, to see if someone tries to summon me.
"Maybe now that people can see what I'm actually capable of, they'll come to me more!" I said, my pride & ego rising.
Happy as I could be for a dead girl, I skipped the rest of the way to the garden. Opening the glass door, opened me to the dark, yet light, outside. Rows of flowers & growing veggies from the gardening club were scattered among the garden, a small pond laid near my sakura tree, & a shed not to far from here was filled to the brim with supplies.
The school garden was a comfy cozy spot, if I do say so myself.
Slowly calming down, & reaching my normal state, I walk towards the sakura tree. I sit down gently, laying my back against the tree trun & watch the sky. The clouds danced & moved along the sky, as the sun dipped lower in the horizon creating a mixture of pinks & blues. The cold air tingled my senses as it blew by: creating ultimate relaxation.
I took a few minutes to let all of this sink in, even closing my eyes to regain some composure, before I had to go back inside & keep an eye out for wandering kids.
As it seems only seconds pass by, I finally stand up & head back inside.
Starting to explore the school I've walked down more than a million times now, listening to the noise of my shoes click against the marble, thoughts rumbling through my head about the other wonders.
Yes, I know each & every wonder in this school from seeing them in past meetings. Which, gross, I don't even understand why I went to those meetings in the first place. Besides that, I never truly got to meet them or talk to them. Or even try to befriend them...it just seems weird to all live under the same building, & I have no idea who these people are.
I snort at my thought, feeling dumb.
I don't need to know them. I don't need people in the first place. It's why I haven't tried to befriend them, nor been to those meetings in years to see them. They kept peace & I kept mine - that's all that mattered.
It's all business professional, nothing more.
Walking up to the 'disaster steps', hitting the second floor, instantly my sixth sense kicked in
In surprise, I mutter aloud, "Already? This seems...early."
Putting all questions aside, I get down on her knees & clasp my hands together in prayer position. Closing my eyes, I succumb to my sixth sense looking for the summoner. Instantly, the image of the sakura tree came into my conscious.
But, the image in my mind brought me full shock as it seemed...
No one was there.
