'Was having nightmares constantly something that happened to you when you were pregnant?'
'Yeah, a little I suppose' May answered. 'However, I think it wasn't half as bad as yours seem to be.'
Lisa had been learning a lot from May in the past few days. She was a lovely person and she could definitely see herself getting on very well with her. May didn't seem to judge her at all and she didn't seem to be prying about her and Achilles, even though it was fairly evident that there was tension between him and Lisa.
However, Lisa couldn't seem to wrap her head around the way they all just seemed to relax and accept that he was kicking off all the time. It seemed strange that they were all so relaxed about him and it was definitely something she felt out of her depth with. The more she seemed to think about it, the more she thought that perhaps some of the things Alma Stack had said had stayed with her or perhaps she just wasn't like the Starling family who had dealt with this before and seemed so chilled out about it.
It was strange that May Starling could look at her son who was a half demon losing his shit and just accept it.
Lisa was starting to get used to Achilles coming out of his father's office yelling about something, it was like coming home had actually made him worse.
The nightmares were certainly something that had been keeping Lisa awake at night. She didn't understand why she was getting them but she was certain it was linked to Achilles. She spent most nights sitting up in bed, trying to sleep.
But not tonight. She was certain everyone was asleep. Lisa was walking around the house, trying to tire herself out some way and found herself standing in the kitchen. It was quiet and all she could hear was her breathing until she heard a voice behind her.
'Can't sleep?'
She turned to face who it was, and saw Aster, with a peaceful smile on his face.
'Unfortunately, no. You?'
'Snap.'
'What's eating you?' Lisa said softly.
'Ah nothing, it's just been a while since we've all been together, you know? As a family. It brings back some weird times.'
'I can imagine.'
'You know I spent so much of my teens angry with Achilles, jealous of him, and now, I can't feel anything but sorry for him. He's such a mess Lisa.'
'I feel like there's so much I will never know about him.'
Aster laughed. 'Don't be so dramatic Lisa, you just have to ask him, he's going to come around eventually.'
'So everyone keeps telling me. I think I'm going to go to bed now, goodnight Aster.'
'Goodnight Lisa.'
Lisa went upstairs, there was a bathroom attached to the room she was staying in and she looked in the mirror at herself. She was so over these red eyes.
'What were you doing down there with my brother?'
Achilles' voice behind her made her jump.
'We were talking.' She could see his reflection in the mirror.
'About?'
'Does it really matter?'
'You know, I know you all talk about me, like there's something wrong with me.'

'Well that's because there is, but we're all going to help you through it. Goodnight.' She turned and he stood in the way of the door.
'What's wrong with me then genius?'
'Don't talk to me like that.'
'Okay, I'm sorry.' he said softly and then moved. 'Goodnight, Lisa.'
'Goodnight Achilles.'
Do you like it Lisa?'
Lisa paused.
'What?'
'Do you like knowing the power you have over me? Does it make you feel good?' He walked over to her and suddenly she froze as he roped his arms around her.
His voice was low, and Lisa felt him move closer to her, until she was basically pressed up against him. Frankly, she found it strange since he had been avoiding her like the plague lately. It actually felt nice to feel him against her against, even though he was being strange.
'What are you talking about Achilles?'
His voice dropped lower and more guttural and his hand started to trace the bones on her hip.
'Do you like being able to drive me crazy Lisa? You've hurt and betrayed me and I can't, no, I won't do anything to hurt you back and you know that. Do you enjoy it?'
'Don't be ridiculous.' Lisa breathed heavily, whatever energy he was exuding he was laying on thick, because a warm feeling was starting to come over her.
'I don't blame you if you do Lisa, there was a time when I enjoyed having that power over people too. You know, if I wanted, I could touch you once and be able to get in your head. But you know I won't do that.'
His head dipped low and he kissed her neck. The feeling of his lips burned into her skin, searing on her body.
'I do have some tricks up my sleeve though.' he laughed.
'Achilles.' She whined, her voice wavering.
His hand moved lower, from her hip to rest softly between her thighs. The warm feeling she was experiencing spiked as his hand parted her legs and he found what he was looking for.
'Oh Lisa.' He whispered into her ear. 'You need to understand what I am, what I can do.' He began to make small circles with his fingertips and Lisa gasped. Obviously it had been a while since she had had any contact with him, so it was already intense, but it had never been quite this intense. It was like there was some kind of energy radiating off him that was invading her senses, blocking everything out so that there was only him.
For a brief few moments she let herself escape to him, and he kept going in a steady pattern, making her feel things she hadn't felt for a long time. It was like the first time he had made her feel this way, when they were in the bookshop except so much more. This time he was actually touching her.
She moaned loudly and bucked her hips slightly, and she felt him move a bit faster. The feeling of warmth and the energy was increasing and she knew that with the way things were going she definitely wasn't going to last much longer. His head was resting in the crook of her neck and she felt a smirk play on his lips with every sound she made.

She pressed her hips against him more and her fingers gripped the edge of the porcelain sink, leaning slightly forward, she caught sight of her face in the mirror. Her cheeks were flushed and there was a strange supernatural glow off her skin. Her eyes were still red and they were absolutely shining. Achilles's eyes were the same, she could feel the energy seeping out of him and into her.
'What...are...you doing?' She said breathlessly as he wordlessly watched her, that smirk still on his face.
'I'm not doing anything Lisa. You're just having a human reaction to me.'
She felt the feeling peak and a high pitched noise came out of her mouth as she finished.
She slumped against him and she watched in the mirror as he lazily put his fingers into his mouth.
'So fucking sweet Lisa.'
Lisa felt his eyes scour her reflection as he did this, she had never felt him as immensely as this, for the first time she felt she truly aware of the fact that he was not a human man, but another creature entirely.
'So what's your point here?' She panted her head lolling back on to his chest. 'What are you trying to prove? That you have power over me? Are you satisfied?'
'Lisa, if I was trying to prove some kind of power play I'd have used a lot more than my right hand.'
'Was this really just for my benefit then? I thought you were still pissed off at me.'
'Oh this was completely for your benefit Lisa,' he whispered, his mouth came close to her ear again and his eyes continued to stare unblinkingly at her reflection. 'But,' he smiled against her skin 'I know you won't betray me if you can't live without me.'
'You think I won't be able to live without some mediocre action?' Lisa snapped back at him. She knew she should probably just let him go off an whatever weird trip he was on at the moment, bit she really wasn't willing to just roll over and let him talk to her like that.
'Oh sweetheart, we both know that wasn't mediocre.'
He allowed her to steady herself, and then leaned away from her.
'Goodnight Lisa.' He kissed her on the neck once more and without another a word he left the bathroom and left her standing there.
She stared at her reflection for a moment or two and then placed her fist on the mirror and looked down. She opened her mouth and let out a huge groan of frustration. It wasn't fair that he was acting like this. He seemed to be keeping his distance emotionally in a way that he was still able to keep her close to him without opening up at all. Lisa understood why perfectly, she had hurt him, but she couldn't believe he was reacting like this. Their relationship was becoming something of a farce. She was going to put an end to this.
'No, Achilles, wait.'
He was just about the walk out of the room when he stopped.
'What?'
'You don't get to do this to me, it's not fair.'
'Not fair? You know what's not fair Lisa? Being betrayed.'
Lisa had had enough.
'Stop saying that Achilles! You got yourself into that mess! You came to get me, knowing full well that when I got out, I would come get you, you knew this, so why did you do that? Why did you scare me? You knew that if I thought you were controlling me then I would freak out.'
'I can't believe you're trying to blame me!'
'I'm not blaming you! You just need to cut me a break okay? Your demon side is bouncing off the walls and you're constantly being horrible to me!'
'My demon side? Lisa, you sound like my dad. Since when do you think you actually know what I am? Because you don't.'
'Oh I know what you are! A colossal pain in my ass! You're being horrible to everyone and they're just letting it slide. It's ridiculous, you're an adult, you can't act like this!'
'Oh, so we're going to get nasty are we? Because if we are, I've done my research Lisa, have you?' He sneered at her.
'What the hell are you talking about?'
'I know who you are Lisa Farrow. You think I'm crazy, well you know what's crazy? Moving to a whole new city after dropping out of college because your batshit insane parents won't accept you.'
That stung. 'How do you know that?' Lisa said quietly, feeling her anger building.
'Did you really think I wouldn't know all about you? You know how careful I am, I have my ways.'
'Is that the same way you knew all those people to kill? Because I haven't forgotten that. That's the problem Achilles, I think I know you, but I obviously don't.'
'Why, are you scared?'
'Should I be?'
'I don't know, should you?' he growled.
'Are you threatening me? Are you seriously going to threaten me? You need therapy.'
'I'm not going to do anything not within reason.'
'Well, let's be honest, it wouldn't be the first time a pregnant woman ended up dead because of you.'
He looked absolutely enraged for a second but then it seemed to settle and he leaned in close to her face. 'The only reason I'm bearing your presence is that child. Afterwards, I want you out of my life.'
It sounded final and he stared at her for a second and then turned around.
'You don't mean that.'
'I want you gone when this is over.' He started to walk away.
'Achilles I'm sorry, I didn't mean that, I'm so sorry.' She started to choke up.
'I'm just so scared that you'll never talk to me again, I didn't mean it, I don't know what else more I can say. I'll do anything to change this, please just let it be okay.'
She fell to her knees.
'I'm sorry, I'm such a horrible person, I'm sorry.'
Achilles turned back and watched her crying, and then suddenly Lisa felt his arms around her.
'Lisa, I'm sorry, I didn't mean any of that, Lisa, it's okay, Lisa? It's okay, alright? It's okay.'
Lisa opened her eyes and looked into his, which were now, for the first time in a while, a soft grey. She looked up at him and suddenly, everything did seem okay.
'It's okay.'
What's this? A double upload? Yes, it's actually happened, because I've had a few days off so I've actually been able to get some of this done!
