《Hire an Incubus》24.

Saying goodbye to Achilles's family was hard.
'I'll be back soon, I promise.' He had said to them walking away. Lisa knew it was difficult for him but she truly did believe this wasn't the last she'd see of the Starling family.
'So we're going back? Not what I expected after all this.' Achilles said, eyes on the road.
'Why are we driving again?'
'I need to conserve my energy if I'm going to hold up an illusion. I wasn't going to say this to my parents in case they freaked out, but I think I might be able to hold one up for you too.'
'You think you can do that?'
'Yes, since you got pregnant,I feel more connected to you than ever. I'm sure we could do it if we tried.'
'There's something slightly poetic in that I guess.' Lisa laughed.
'I guess there is.'
Lisa looked out the window nervously. 'There's something I need to ask you actually.'
'Shoot.'
'When we were fighting, you said some stuff about me that I didn't know that you knew. I want to know how you knew them things, and why?'
Achilles sighed. 'When we got linked up on the system, I thought it was some attempt for Hire an Incubus to lure me to them and I was surprised that they'd tried that method to find me. So I tried to find out as much as I could about you. I found out where you worked and who your family were and when everything came up clean,I decided to approach you and size you up. What I did was wrong and what I said was wrong, and I'm not trying to excuse it but I hope you understand why I did it.'
'I do, but I just need you to understand that those things were stuff I would've told you in time. i don't want you to think you can just do background checks on me. I know what happened to has made you paranoid about stuff, but I need you to know that you can trust me now.'
'I know.'
'I know what happened back with Hercules hurt you, and I know I messed up, but I would never do anything to intentionally hurt you-'
'Lisa, you don't need to explain yourself-'
'I need to say this.' She looked him in the eyes and she could feel tears coming to hers.
'We need to be on the same page if you want this to work, okay? We need to be together on this because soon it's not just going to be me and you. Maybe this isn't how we both thought our lives would go,but that's the way it is, so we have to support each other.'

'You're right.'
'Thank you.'
They sat mostly in silence for the rest of the drive, and Lisa must have fell asleep along the way because when she woke up it was bright and they were nearly there.
When they were a few streets away, Achilles pulled over.
'We need to try change our appearances now.'
He took Lisa's hand and a few deep breaths.
'Just relax.' He said softly and Lisa felt a slight rush to her head and she looked at her self in the rear-view mirror. She looked totally different, no longer human.
'Wow. I would've killed to have looked like this in high school.'
'Like a demon?' Achilles laughed. He looked totally different as well.
'This hot.'
'You are hot, you idiot.'
'Would you like me more like this?'
'I wouldn't change a damn thing, darling.'
They got out of the car and started walking.
'We just look like standard incubus employees so try your best to blend in. Try to avoid saying things like 'oh my God' or you'll get looks.'
'Do you guys seriously not say 'oh my God'?'
'Nope, we won't touch the G word with a ten foot pole. History of conflict and such.'
'The more you know I guess.'
'Exactly, so when we get in here, just follow my lead.'
They entered the building and Lisa got shudders as she walked in. The last time she was here she was terrified that she would die. For some reason she felt stronger now and she wasn't entirely sure whether that was wise or not.
Nothing had really changed since last time they were there.
'Okay so the good news is, we're in but the bad news is that the only place I can imagine there being information that sensitive is with Damian.'
'So I guess we have to get into that office without him catching us.'
'Not exactly. When I say with Damian, I meant with Damian. We need him.'
'Oh.'
'I want you to pretend you're a new recruit who has information about me. You can tell him everything if you need to, just keep him distracted enough that I can disarm him.'
'What are you going to do to him?'
'You leave that to me Lisa, don't get involved. If things get ugly, I want you to get out of there, okay?'
'Okay.'
Lisa remembered the last time she had walked to that office with Adam. She wondered what he was doing and she felt slightly bad that she had just straight up vanished. But she couldn't have guaranteed that he wouldn't have turned on her.
'Well, look alive.' Achilles said as he knocked on the door.

'Come ahead.' A familiar voice answered.
'Hello Damian. I'm here with one of the new recruits, she has some information about something important.' Achilles said, opening the door.
'Oh really? What is it?'
'It's about Achilles.'
'It is?' Damian stood up. 'Well tell me! Come in, sit down!'
Achilles winked at her as she walked in and sat down.
'I can tell you his full name and who his family is.'
'How do you know this?'
'I used to be friends with him growing up. His name is Achilles Starling.' Lisa was lying through her teeth. She just hoped the information was engaging enough that it would give Achilles enough time to figure out what to do.
'Starling. That's a human name. Who are his family?'
'His father's name is Ezra, his mother is human. '
'Ezra.' Damian said. 'That's a name I haven't heard in a while. That old incubus is Achilles's father? You're joking me? Ezra is one of the most powerful of our kind. That explains a lot.'
'A lot of what?'
'Why he's so strong, but there's one thing it doesn't explain.'
'What's that?'
Damian stood up.
'Why you thought you could come in here and try to trick me.' He hissed.
Lisa hopped up straight away and made a dash for the door. Achilles positioned himself between Damian and Lisa.
'The door is locked.' Lisa said frantically to Achilles, whose illusion had dropped. Lisa's did suddenly and Damian looked surprised when he saw her.
'So, the rumours are true.' He began. 'You did get pregnant. My, what a mess. You do remember how that ended for you last time, don't you Achilles?'
'Actually Damian, I've been informed that that's not exactly what happened. If anyone knows where that child is, you do.'
'Oh, you must have really pissed Alma off if she told you that little secret.'
'What?'
Before Lisa could do anything, Damian was on top of Achilles. They were moving too fast for Lisa to really see what was going on but she could make out Damian punching Achilles over and over again. From where she was standing, it looked like a fight he wasn't going to win.
'I'm going to tell you Achilles because I want the last thing you hear before you die if to know what you could have stopped but didn't. Your child is still alive. It's some kind of pet project that Alma is working on. Some kind of weapon I believe. Obviously the child is still young now, but when it gets older that's what the plan is.'
'That's insane!' Lisa yelled. 'It's just a child!'
Damian, who now was sporting completely black eyes stared at Lisa. He had his arm wrapped around Achilles's neck. Lisa got a look at his bloodstained face. His blood was a strange colour, a much deeper, blacker red than human blood. It was everywhere, he looked like in was in an immense amount of pain.
'Lisa, get out of here.' He grunted.
'But you see,she can't' Damian growled. 'The door is locked. See when I'm finished with you, I'm going to move on to her. I'm going rip that abomination out of her and then I'm going to rip her head off. You mightn't remember since you're so young but we are by nature perverse, twisted creatures. I might just drink all her blood too.'
Achilles roared and tried to move but he was losing.
Lisa was sick of just standing there. There had to be something she could do. Her eyes caught a cross that was sitting in a glass case by the desk. She had remembered her eyes falling on it the first time she had been in the office. If she could just get over there and get it, she could use it.
She clambered over to it and grabbed it. Damian's attention shifted back to her.
'Oh no you don't, you miserable wench!'
He gave Achilles a sharp kick in the head and suddenly Damian was right in front of her.
'Actually.' He began, grabbing her roughly. 'You know what I'm going to do before I kill you?'
He pushed himself against her and Lisa was terrified. She looked into his eyes.
'I want him to watch what I'm going to do to you.'
'Don't touch me!' Lisa screamed, but he was too strong.
His voice dropped lower and Lisa could tell he was going to start using his powers on her. 'I don't want you to struggle, I want you to want it too.'
Lisa could feel his powers radiating on to her and she tried to fight it the best she could.
'Relax.'
'Don't lay a finger on her.' Achilles grunted.
Before she could stop him, Damian pressed his lips to hers.
'No. Please don't' She could hear Achilles's voice in the distance. She tried to find it, to focus on it. She could feel Damian's influence dragging her away but Achilles's voice was pulling her back. She found it and held on to it.
'That's it, relax.'She heard Damian say as she feigned calming down.
She gripped the cross and took a deep breath. She was only going to get one shot at this.
She pulled away from Damian, a sweet kind of smile on her face. She kept eye contact with him and watched as the look on his face turned to sharp shock.
She watched as he staggered backwards and his hands came off her. His eyes dropped to his chest, where there was now a large, wooden cross protruding from it.
'You-'
Lisa kicked him to the floor.
'Go to Hell.'
