《He's half my soul》Hidden Understanding

When I wake up, I reach for Patroclus' sleeping body but the spot is empty and cold. He is gone. He leaves before I wake up some mornings and when I ask where he has gone, he points to a random spot in the trees over his shoulder. I do not pry but I am curious. I decide that I will find out where Patroclus' goes some mornings.
I leave our cave and tell Chiron that I will be back. He nods and continues making breakfast. I walk into the woods. After walking a couple of minutes without any sign of Patroclus I start getting frustrated. Why does he hide? I have never kept secrets from Patroclus before and I thought he did the same. I walk to the creek letting my feet soak in the cool water. I sit on the bank pondering. I decide that I should not get mad at Patroclus. If he decides to hide things from me then I suppose I should give him that right. He'll tell me eventually right?
I walk back to Chiron and help him finish breakfast. Soon after, we begin my training for the day.
I am working on my archery skills but Chiron stops me realizing my heart is not in it anymore.
"What is bothering you Achilles?" Chiron asks
"Why do people keep secrets?" I say sticking the point of my arrow dismissively into the soft dirt.
"People keep secrets for a lot of reasons Achilles. Some people do it because they believe the people they would tell wouldn't understand."
"What can you do to show someone you would understand?" I ask
"You learn that whatever the person is hiding from you is not meant to be known yet."
"When will it be meant to be known?" I ask
"Achilles sometimes it is never meant to be known." I frown sticking my arrow deeper and deeper into the dirt.
"I think our lessons can be finished for the day Achilles, go find Patroclus." I nod and begin to walk away
"Achilles." Chiron says just before I reach the tree line.
"Sometimes you look back and realize you've known all along." I meet Chiron's wise eyes and nod.
