《Unexpected Voyage》•CHAPTER 13•

I jolted awoke to gasp for breath, propelling myself into an upright sitting position. Tears roll down my cheeks as I try to wrap my head around what I saw, most importantly what I felt. Betrayal... Pure betrayal... The betrayal I felt at that moment surpassed all other emotions I was feeling in parallel. My knuckles gripped the duvet, turning white as the scene kept on replaying in my head.
Was it even real?
Or was it just a trick of my mind?
If it was real, then that means Anastasia Mikaelson really does exist or existed. And this dream was actually a memory of her before her death or... her future. My future
And if it was just a trick of my mind then how can I feel what that look-alike girl was feeling: scared, anguish, pain, and overall betrayal. Even now I am feeling like I am in burning in fire. Besides, there is only one wood that can alight an Original on fire. White Oak Stake
I got up out of bed and slowly made my way to the bathroom, and started the shower. Keeping the temperature as low as possible, I stepped in the shower, tilting my head back, and sighed. As I closed my eyes and let the cold water wash away the burning sensation, my shoulders relaxed.
Today I can't get distracted. I've to put stop my fictional mother's plan of undoing evil she created, make sure to get Finn in the right direction before my siblings kill him, and most importantly --- Burn the goddamn Wickery bridge. I took a deep breath and stepped out of the shower, getting ready for adventurous today.
~
"Where is everybody, Elijah?" I asked seeing him standing in the living room, deep in thought, "Elijah, all ok?"
"Niklaus, Kol, and Enzo have gone out, and Rebekah is in the shower," Elijah replied coming out of his thoughts. Seeing the burnt sage in his hand, I know what's happening.
"Where is Finn?" I saw how his hands clenched into fists, and his demeanor grew tense which further confirm my suspicion that he is not only doubting Esther but also Finn.
"Mother and Finn, they went somewhere early in the morning." After a pause, he added solemnly, "I don't think you should trust him. They are doing something," showing me the burnt sage.
"Elijah, I trust Finn. I trust all my siblings. So never ever ask me not to do so," I replied sternly, stretching every word to make him understand that I mean it. "And about our dearest Mother, which I can say with guarantee," I stated grimly, "She returned for one reason, to undo the evil she created. She doesn't love us."
I paused, contemplating for a moment before adding softly, "Finn --- I know why you're saying we can't trust him. According to you, he hates what we are, he always has..."
Elijah interrupted, "Isn't it true?" which I didn't mind and continued, raising my voice to drown his,
"But have you ever realized, did we give him enough reason to like us?" I pointed out making his mouth snapped shut, "To like this new change? Every one of us thought of him as a nuisance and when Nikky got his hand on the daggers, you guys found a way to put a stop to it. Not caring about his feelings, not giving a flying fuck that a brother, our elder brother, is daggered for NINE HUNDRED YEARS." In the end, I found myself yelling though I wanted to have this conversation as calmly as possible. But it seems impossible when you see someone, who doesn't acknowledge his own fault and goes to blame another one for why he is taking revenge. I can hear, the shower of Bek's room has stopped. Not wanting to face any more confrontation with another sibling, I walked towards the door.

With my hand on the silver handle, I took a breather before adding surely, "But I can guarantee you, brother, he hated what we are. Not anymore," finishing I left the house without any backward glance. But I know, I left a shocked and guilty brother and sister in the living room and bedroom.
Using my newfound speed, I got myself far away from manor before stopping to think of where I should go first. To Finn, who is most likely gonna talk about how he wants to back out from killing his siblings with their psycho mother or Nikky and Kol, who are going to get ambushed by Scooby Gang, one with seduction and another with a dagger. And there is also Enzo with them who might get hurt in this crossfire. I let out a small sigh as I prepared myself for what was about to happen in the next few hours.
Niklaus, Kol, and Enzo had drunk half the Grill's liquor supply with no intention of stopping on the challenge to see who will get drunk first.
"I remember her from last night," Kol smirked pointing at the approaching blonde, "She looks like a tasty little thing,"
"Say another word and I'll tear out your liver," Niklaus threatened quietly before a bright smile overtook his face, "Caroline!"
"Too bright!" Enzo stated grimly, shielding his eyes from the sunny smile on Niklaus's face though he finds it a little bit suspicious. According to what Kol said about the rivalry between Scooby Gang and Mikaelson the whole morning, this blonde vampire name Caroline shouldn't be coming in their direction.
"Mood swings," Kol muttered in reply rolling his eyes at the scene in front of him. Klaus ignored their mocking and put all his attention on the sassy blonde hair beauty in front of him for whom he feels some sort of attraction.
"Oh, it's you," she said flatly, finally acknowledging the presence of the Hybrid and his brother. Or so what she made them believe. She also noticed there is one extra person with them whom she didn't see before. Anyways, she was only asked to distract the Hybrid, the rest will be handled by the rest. Though she agreed to do so, she can't help but feel guilty seeing the enthusiasm of the Hybrid in front of him at seeing her.
"Join us for a drink?" Klaus offered, picking up his glass with Kol following his suit. Whereas, Enzo noticed how two humans were glancing towards their direction in the disguise of playing pool though no shooted ball has entered in any pocket. Again, from Kol, he knew they are also from Scooby Gang.
"Mmm, I'd rather die of thirst. But thanks," Caroline declined the offer sardonically before walking out.
"Isn't she stunning?" Niklaus grinned pointing at her retreating back.
"She certainly looks good walking away from you," Kol replied insultingly.
"I'll take that as a challenge," finish saying, Niklaus gulped down his drink and began walking after her
"Kol..." But before Enzo can warn him to stop Niklaus from going after that blonde vampire, Niklaus's phone rang making him stop.
"Stellina, how about calling later? I'm a little bit busy," Klaus said, picking up the phone while keeping an eye on the walking-out blonde vampire. He was about to hang up when the frantic voice of Anastasia reached his ear, "Nikky, listen to me. We're in grave danger."
"What do you mean?" Klaus questioned
"First of all, wherever you, Kol, and Enzo are, get out from there and go to a place where there is no vampire." She advised first seeing someone can hear their conversation. After a pause, she added hesitantly, "And Nikky, don't... don't trust Caroline. They are using your infatuation for her as a distraction to dagger Kol. So get out all of you if you're anywhere near Scooby Gang. Once you're away, call me for further details. I'm going for Finn."

"What do you mean you're going for Finn?" But Anastasia has already hanged up the phone without giving him any reply.
When Klaus looked up from the phone, he saw Caroline looking at him from the other side of the road. Upon meeting her eyes, he gave her a devilish smirk.
Caroline was shocked when Klaus didn't follow her out. Usually, he wouldn't miss a chance of talking with her. She doesn't know why but she has a bad feeling about it. Slowing down her steps as much as possible without seeming suspicious, she waited for him to catch up or call for her attention. Nothing
Not having the patience to wait, she turned around and met his eyes. It would've been good if she hasn't turned because she felt like she was drenched by a bucket of cold water. A devilish smirk was playing on his lips and eyes that show viciousness. This is The Klaus Mikaeslon, the biggest, baddest hybrid, who you wouldn't want as an enemy. But in a blink of an eye, it was gone as if it was her hallucination. Instead, it was replaced by a smug smile like he was happy at seeing her turning around.
'Was it really her hallucination?' Fear struck her heart at the thought he knows.
"They do have an evil plan" stated Enzo grimly while taking a sip of his drink, making it looks like they are not having a conversation after the strange phone call from Anastasia.
"I think we should get the dagger," Kol hissed, clenching his glass, remembering the times he got daggered. Now the enemies of their family are also marking him as the one to get daggered.
Has he not been killing for a long time that they forgot who the wildest Mikaelson is?
"We can't waste time in talking. They will notice something is wrong and Anastasia has asked us to get out soon. Besides, I have a feeling she is jumping into a more dangerous situation when she said that she is going for Finn," Enzo finished with a big smile, but if one looks closely they can see the concern in his eyes.
"It's not safe in our enemy's hand. We have to take that dagger back," Klaus pointed out trying to minimize his furrowed eyebrows.
"As far as, you guys said, no vampire can dagger an Original, otherwise he/she would find themselves dead," Enzo began.
"Yes, and so, they need a human to do so," Kol continued.
"And we've two," Klaus finished smirking.
And that's how five minutes later, the Salvatore brothers got broken necks with wooden stakes sticking on various parts of their bodies, especially Damon Salvatore. Courtesy of Enzo, who left with a promise that there are more such surprises in the future. Alaric got concussion, broken ribs, and a stabbing wound on his previous semi-healed wound courtesy to Kol Mikaeslon, who took it personally when he found the dagger with him. Let's just say, he and Enzo would've taken their revenge then and there if Anastasia might not be in possible danger.
Lastly, Klaus's heart broke knowing their mother's plan and how the girl he wanted to woo is okay with getting him and his siblings killed. He made sure the way his heart broke hearing her words, her heart also does so at remembering the day.
And with that, the three left for Anastasia, who by now isn't receiving her phone anymore.
~
Outside the abandoned house, where the hundreds of witches were burned, Bonnie is questioning Esther regarding the ritual happening tonight and Finn is lighting torches around a hexagon on the ground made of salt. He is looking for a chance to stab the injection filled with his blood on his mother. The plan is flawless according to him --- Make his mother a vampire. It not only saves his sibling but also his mother gets to know about blood cravings they face every day, every hour, every minute and every second. He never thought he would be doing so, killing his mother. But he can't lose any more siblings to his mother's great plan. He can't hear another sister's pleading.
'The plan is perfect' he kept on repeating it to himself to gain confidence but he can't deny there's a bad feeling he is getting regarding the whole situation.
"The hexagon represents our connection to magic. The salt is a symbol of the Earth." Like, many times, he tried to do so, somehow his mother dodge it without looking suspicious.
"The torches?" Besides, she is keeping him at an arm's distance from the morning.
"Six torches," Like she expects him to do something drastic but why? Why would he do so when he didn't even tell her anything about his change of mind? "One for each of my children."
'One for each of my children? Six torches? Six children? His little sis is included,' his eyes widened realizing why his mother was acting cautiously around him. She never wanted to spare his sister.
'What did I do?' Finn thought, feeling ashamed of himself.
He helped his mother in linking his siblings along with Ana.
He lighted the torches where each represents his siblings along with Ana.
He was willing to sacrifice himself resulting in the death of his siblings along with Ana.
Before he could do anything to correct his wrongdoing, he was injected Vervain by Esther who was standing behind him followed by he was bound magically with vervain rope.
"As the witch who cast the spell that made them vampires, I can also reverse it. When they become human again, they can be killed. As they are linked as one, my brave Finn will be the sacrifice. With his death, will come theirs," answered Esther to Bonnie's question regarding the spell calmly, walking around Finn's convulsing form. Being daggered for a long time made him no less vulnerable than a newbie vampire to vervain.
"It doesn't seem he is willing to die," Abby pointed out at the Original who was glaring dagger at his mother.
"It doesn't matter." Crouching down, she whispered to Finn, "Tonight, I am going to release you and your siblings from an eternity of shame. It's not a sacrifice. It's a gift, my brave Finn." All Finn could do was withered in pain, filled with regret and guilt and it intensified when his eyes met with the blue eyes of his youngest sister.
~
Niklaus, Kol, and Elijah walked into the clearing of the old witch house. As they got closer, they noticed a star with six ends inside a circle drawn across the ground by salt, with six sticks alight with fire at each point of the star.
"My sons come forward," Esther spoke, stepping inside the hexagon confidently while thinking of how to waste the time since it's too early for the full moon.
Kol attempted to enter as well, but the flames flared up more loudly, stopping him from crossing.
"That's lovely. We're stuck out here, while the mother forcefully kills one of her children to kill all her children. What a mother you are!" Kol spat, looking disgusted at the woman, who they called mother while looking concernedly at his elder brother lying on the floor who seems to be unconscious.
"Be quiet Kol. Your brother will be honored when he realizes the role he played in eradicating the abomination likes you. In fact, initially, all this plan was our joined work but unfortunately, he wants to back out just because I added Anastasia's name in this entire plan although I gave him word not to. But later, he will understand that she is also an abomination like my rest of the children," by the time Esther finished, the three Mikaeslon understood one thing that, their eldest brother was willing to sacrifice himself, but only back out upon knowing that their youngest in included in all this. Though they feel glad that their eldest brother took the safety of Anastasia into consideration, they can't help but feel disappointed as well knowing he was willing to kill the rest of them.
"Whatever you think of us, killing your own children will be an atrocity," Eliah replied coldly. Klaus was pacing feeling anger towards his mother, betrayal from Finn, and worry for his stellina about whom they don't know where they are.
"My only regret is that I did not let you die a thousand years ago," Esther said remorsefully.
"Enough. All this talk is boring me. End this now, Mother or I'll send you back to Hell," Klaus interrupted not able to take her any more nonsense.
Esther took a step forward, looking at Klaus, "For a thousand years, I've been forced to watch you. Felt the pain of every victim, suffered while you shed blood," turning to Elijah, she chided him, "Even you, Elijah, with your claim to nobility, you're no better. All of you. You're a curse on this Earth..."
"No Esther, you're the curse on the name of Mother," Anastasia said, coming out from her hiding spot while discretely glancing at Finn, who was in pain but awake all the time. Esther gasps in pain as she thrusts her arm forward and makes a fist with her hand, causing a bloody spot to appear on her tops from her chest, causing her to fall to her knees, "We didn't ask you to make us immortal. We didn't ask to get killed by our parents. This immortality was gifted by you. So you do deserve to get a return gift."
"Magic? How? What do...," She was cut off by the voice of her eldest son from behind her.
"This is my gift to you, mother, for what you have done to us, to our family," followed by a syringe injected on her, making her yelp in more pain, but all the pain was forgotten when he whispered next words in her ear, "To my sister, Freya."
"You remember?" asked Esther feeling goosebumps rise up her skin.
"Always"
But she couldn't hear what he replied because many things happened at the same time, "No! Sisters! Do not abandon me!" and with that Esther lost the connection to draw the power from Bennett bloodline, along with her heart which flies out of her chest and into Anastasia's shaking open hand as she opens her fist. Esther lets out one last gasp before she collapses to the floor.
The hexagon torches flared up. The other brothers cower from the flames. After a moment the torches die out. Elijah, Klaus, and Kol stand around in shock. There stood Finn with a golden barrier protecting him with their dead mother at his feet, who not only had her heart removed by the youngest but also had her neck snapped by the eldest.
All brothers looked at the place where the youngest one was standing to see their mother's heart lying at that place with no sign of their sister and it seems like with the disappearance of their sister, the protective barrier around Finn also dissolved because the next moment Kol snapped Finn's neck.

Agros de Mortis
Are things ever so crystal clear in life, those of us with experience know that it can be considered a blessing to have such a straight forward path in life. Sometimes things go right, sometimes something occurs that was simply never imagined. Sometimes life seems to flow so quickly but sometimes it just seems stuck, cursed to repeat itself. Cycles upon cycles we see around us, but perhaps in only a moment things change. Can this be stopped or do we even want it to be stopped? Are things always as evil as they seem, or are they so similar that we find it painful. Come visit this little spot and decide for yourself what you interpret this is... _________________________________________________ This fiction is a mix of many things and for simplicity sake is the story of one man's rise to power in a fashion fit be called a demon lord. Ever read all those novels where you get a here is this bad guy we called you here to go deal with by the power of our god so here is some magic and training go kill em. Here is the other side's view of their rise to power in a fashion that perhaps seems evil, perhaps not. Is our MC truly that evil or is he simply following what he feels like is best for him, who is to say that he is truly a blight aganist the gods for surely it is not so simple in life. This will have some elements of dungeon building but it takes mostly a back seat to things as a background thing, a weak to strong theme well yeah but it won't really be personal power since we are doing what is essentially nation building. Don't worry there will be no romance as a main theme, if you find any it is unintentional or simply a very minor element overall, hopefully won't be any of the social/relationship gender issues from last time for those that read my first ficiton since that really is not what I want the story to be about. Progress in story is a bit of a mix of fast and slow I felt overall for the story, time skips were short and things piled up quickly then calmed down before building up again. Not sure how I did with characterizing and writing some concepts but at least I wanted people to think a little. Some attempt to keep things realistic to a degree considering you know magic since I wanted a bit more depth to things. Come check out the story and decide for yourself how you feel about some things.
