《Sirens in Seattle》{chapter 7}

My classes were killing me. The work was insane and it was constant. This whole past week I've pulled at least three all nighters to attempt to get work done that was assigned that day.
Of course on the first day back, Minnie wanted to know every detail and I of course provided them to her.
Her only responses being "But Mia he sounds sooo hot." when I tried to explain how rude Phoenix was and how hot and cold he can be.
When Friday finally came around I was able to collapse with relief and happily try to catch up with Greys Anatomy.
Sitting in my couch , comfortable in a pair of leggings and a T-shirt, I was able to happily eat my weight in popcorn, it actually hit me.
Phoenix was picking me up at tomorrow at around six.
He hasn't called or even gave me a heads up this event was still going on , so was it? I haven't even thought of any possible outfit ideas. Then again, I didn't even have his number to text him about it. Was there a dress code? Is it going to be cold? Fancy? Casual?
Another large question is why did he even invite me, I hardly know the guy.
My relaxing evening turned into a pile of stress that carried on all the way to Saturday afternoon.
I sat on my closet floor stressing about my lack of clothing that was comfortable yet cute.
My stress level shot up about an hour before Phoenix was supposed to arrive, when i heard the familiar buzz of my apartment doorbell.
I groaned at whatever neighbor it probably was coming to complain about my parking or whatever, as that commonly happened and I was genuinely shocked when it was Phoenix.
He was dressed in tan pants with a grey button up, with a dark peacoat covering it, matched with a pair of dark gloves.
His features were sharp as always and I'd be a liar if I said it didn't make my knees weak a little.
"Hey." was all he said while i stood there in my flowy cropped baseball tee and grey sweats, looking like a goblin that's just seen the light for the first time.
I snapped my head around to look at the clock that was placed on my living room wall.
"Um it' not time to go yet." Was all I was able to squeak out.

Phoenix looked unamused. "Obviously. I can tell time. I came by early to make sure you didn't forget."
I shook my head , still in shock. "Um well come in." I said stepping aside, and allowing him into my space, that I thank godly had cleaned not too long ago.
He had no problem walking in and obviously judging everything. He walked straight up to my small stand beside the coach and picked up a family portrait.
He examined it and I waited for him to make some snide remark, but he didn't. He simply set it down and stared at me.
"Ok, here." I said grabbing the remote and putting the t.v on him for him. "I'm going to go finish getting ready." I said quickly before turing back to my bedroom.
The panic to get ready and wear an appropriate outfit grew even higher as ripped through my closet looking for something semi formal.
I smiled when I came across a white high waisted skirt that had buttons going down the front,I hardly get to wear due to the weather. To match it I grabbed a body hugging maroon skirt and my tan knee high boots.
I shaved my legs that haven't been shaved in weeks. Wearing pants 24/7 has its perks, but when it cam to times like these I was screwed so I quickly threw myself onto my bathroom sink and starting hacking away at my legs, only managing a few small cuts.
My hair was previously straightened from the day before , so I didn't have to deal with that too much, except for throwing some loose curls with my wand.I was thankful for straitening my hair because with my curls, you simply never knew what kind of hair day it would be.
I pulled out my makeup bag, and decided to glam my face up. I first primed , then moved to my foundation, allowing it to turn my dull skin, into a fresh glow layer. For eyeshadow, I chose to go with deep reds, to tie my look into the color of my sweater. I made my cheek bones glow to the gods before popping on a maroon lip color. I hurriedly set everything with setting spray before I hopped around my room trying to hurriedly shove my feet into the very high heels.
I gave myself a good once look over to make sure I wasn't a mess even if I felt like one on the inside.

"Ok I'm ready." I announced to Phoenix who was intently staring at an episode of Grey's Anatomy as I walked out from my room.
"So are Derek and Meredith married?" He asked me suddenly turn around.
I have him a perplexed look that turned into a smile. "Mr. Too Tough got into Greys Anatomy while I got ready?" I mocked him.
He rolled his eyes then shut the TV off for me.
"Let's go, you took forever putting all that glitter on your face.." Was all he said before walking to my front door and and walking out.
I scoffed at his tone but followed him out, happy he noticed I decided to look nice. "Its called highlighter." I mumbled.
I wrapped my dark peacoat around myself as the bitter air hit my body once we stepped outside.
I looked for his squad car but was a little surprised when he lead me to a black Range Rover.
"Thank you." I said when he opened the door for me, surprised at the semi sweet gesture.
"Don't flatter yourself , I just didn't want you to get finger prints on my car." He replied at me with an annoyingly cute smirk.
I pursed my lips and turned around to go back inside. If he was going to be an ass to me the whole time I could be doing more important things.
"Hey!" He called out at me. "I was joking."
I turned around but crossed my arms. "If your going to be mean I'm not going." I simply told him.
He raised his hands up in surrender."Ok whatever just get in, we're going to be late."
I was about to keep walking back into my cozy apartment but my stomach growled, and I really didn't want to go out and pick myself something up. This event better have food.
I got back into his car and he turned the radio up to help get rid of all the awkward tension.
What was I doing. I asked myself repeatedly.
"Call out my nameeee" Blasted through his radio and Phoenix scoffed then changed the station.
"Hey. That's a good song." I told him, a little irritated I didn't get to hear the rest of it.
He shook his head at me, smirking a little bit, turning up a new song by YG, that I had to admit was one of my favorites to dance around to or blast in my car.
I sat back into the seats when I blurted, "Can I ask you a question?"
"No." He replied but I continued, ignoring his comment. "Why did you invite me?"
He took his eyes off the road momentarily to give me a look. "I already told you." He began. "I needed to bring someone, and you talk a lot, so you'll be good at conversation."
"But I mean, I'm pretty sure you could of picked any one els, someone your not an ass to." I replied.
He shrugged."Well, some of the other guys bring their girlfriends, not that your my girlfriend or anything."
I had to resist the urge to slap him. "So basically your using me? So your 'friends' don't tease you. Im basically your escort." I asked not liking the feeling of being used.
He kept both hands on the steering wheel as we pulled into a venue that was covered by large white tent type coverings, with a skating rink visible.
"Listen. Your making it sound way worse than what it is. I just needed to bring someone and I brought you." He told my harshly as if I was a child being scolded.
I took a deep breathe and relaxed myself. Maybe I was being a tad dramatic. Nerves occasionally brought out the worse in me.
"Ok." I replied.
He nodded his head and let out a breathe of relief. He then got out and walked over to my side and opened my door for me.
As I scooted out of the car I couldn't help but notice a purplish bruise under his sharp jaw line.
I reached up to brush it slightly making him jump back and give me a questioning look.
"Looks like it hurts." I commented staring into his hard dark eyes.
He unclenched his jaw and wrapped his arm in mine as I struggled not to slip on the icy floors.
"It's all part of the job."

To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
