《Mute - Zelink Modern AU》Positive (14)

Monday morning finally came about. After meeting Link properly, Zelda was now ecstatic that she had English every day. Although they couldn't talk, they shared discreet looks with each other that were the highlights of their day.
Their normal teacher was back from being ill, so Link had nothing to worry about, this would be a normal English lesson. Actually, since meeting Zelda properly, nothing really felt 'normal'. Everything seemed to have more meaning.
He'd actually started to think about what to do about the English assessment, but he actually had an idea.
What if I manage to actually do it? They can't possibly fail me for trying. He thought.
A few months ago, Link never would've imagined it, and he would've just not gone to the assessment full stop. He wished that Zelda knew and understood the affect that she had on him. Little did he know, that Zelda was wishing the same thing.
Zelda too, felt like everything just had more meaning.
She tried to conceal the glances that she would throw towards Link, but he was pretty much always looking in her direction, so it didn't matter much. One of Zelda's friends actually noticed the looks they were exchanging.
"Hey, sorry if I'm being annoying, but I think Link is looking at you" She nudged Zelda.
"Oh. It seems he is" She smiled subtly as she saw how quickly he looked away with red cheeks. It really was a shame that they sat at different ends of the classroom.
At lunch time, Zelda was bored of sitting on her own as she ate her sandwiches. She wondered about where Link went at lunch, before remembering that she saw him at the library, so it was possible for him to be there. It would make sense, as you have to be quiet anyway.

So once Zelda had finished eating her chips (much faster than she normally did) she started heading towards the library. She had to avoid a few of her friends who were trying to get her attention.
"Zelda has been acting weird lately" One of them said.
"I know! Glad I'm not the only one who noticed" Another replied.
Zelda stopped just before entering the library, and took a deep breath. She was positive that Link was in there, its just that she was actually nervous. She looked into a window nearby and fixed her hair. Why am I so conscious about how I look? I normally never feel so bothered. She thought.
She started slowly walking in as she was looking around for the familiar ashy hair and blue eyes. Of course, she found him almost immediately. Like last time, he was sat at a table on his own, this time with an English textbook.
He looked rather troubled as he was sighing whilst flicking through the pages.
Zelda didn't want to draw too much attention to her nor Link, so she was almost tiptoeing around the table until she reached a free chair next to him.
She slowly pulled it out, making sure not to make a single sound. However, Link did hear it and instinctively looked in her direction, fear on his face before he noticed who it were.
She winked at him as she saw his relief.
-------------------------------------
English finally came around again as the last lesson. Double English on a Monday, Link hated it with every fibre of his being. However, this lesson felt different. Recently, his whole life had felt different.
For the first time in a long time, Link actually wanted to talk to people, to make it known that he was there, and still human. He felt a sudden charge of energy course through his veins.

Whilst taking the register, the teacher got to Zelda.
"Here" She replied, not picking her head up.
Link's name was next. Normally she'd just skip over it. She did, but it still didn't stop him.
"Here" He firmly said.
Zelda cocked her head up, recognising the soft but firm tone of voice which was familiar to her. Familiar to her, but no one else in the room.
The whole room went quiet. All eyes darted towards where the noise came from as the teacher went silent. Zelda was in shock, her mouth hanging open yet still in a smirk. Her eyes widened as she looked at Link, who's eyes were focused on a book in front of him.
I need to start somewhere. He thought, trying to convince himself that he did the right thing.
For her, I can do anything.

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.
