《Reincarnated into the Otome Game as the Princess Villainess?!》Twenty-two: The arrogant squirrel

When I once again awoke, the world was spinning. I could only distinguish many figures—great and small—surrounding my half-dead body.
Soon, my vision returned and I stood up. Realising the change in my body immediately, I looked down. What once was my school uniform had now turned to a rather nature-inspired outfit. Ignoring that for the most part, I looked around somewhat shocked.
There were many different creatures around the clearing, all bowing their heads respectfully in my direction. I even spotted mythical creatures such as the Dragons, Phoenixes, Unicorns, Pegasi, Griffins and even a Thunderbird.
I was surprised. Why were they all here and bowing down their heads as if to royalty? From what I am aware of, mythical creatures are the most arrogant of all and barely respect the fairies let alone any other lower race.
Then I felt it—the fluttering of wings on my back. Oh... I had forgotten about that.
Apparently, I'm a fairy now.
And yes, secretly, I am dying on the inside.
But this respect was not one that fairies are given by the natural deities of this land. There even saw a Dryad bowing to me.
Suddenly, a young and crisp voice rang out. My eyes were immediately drawn to the brown-haired red-eyed child.
"Mistress, you have awoken! This servant has been waiting for your appearance for a million years and is pleased to be in your acquaintance once again! The world is sure to be prosperous with your Grace's return, the creatures that can come onto land have all come to greet you." Her words confused me. Mistress? What one million years? And why is the world going to be prosperous?
The silent of the two tiny fairies—and yes, the translucent glittery wings on their back gave it away—quietly condemned her sister, reminding (?) her that I would have lost my memory.

I paused. "Okay, could someone please explain what is happening? And why are all the mystic beasts here?"
The previously silent fairy nodded and started to speak
"Well you see Mistress, your birth is a very crucial part of this world's development and the happiness of the creature. Through the million years since your last rebirth, the creatures of the land have suffered endlessly. Humans realised that the deity that used to protect the animals and the natural order of the world has passed.
This resulted in them overtaking the world and enslaving all creatures big or small. The only ones who have so far not done this disgusting thing have been the fairies who allow all creatures to live peacefully inside their kingdom. But now with your rebirth Mistress, the natural order may be restored and happiness brought to the creatures."
As her speech finished, I was about to frown. It was irking that they had been treated in this manner, by fellow humans nonetheless. Enslaved into becoming a human's pet must have been a terrible experience.
Poor things.
Soon, the more boisterous of the twins spoke. "Mistress, to express their goodwill towards you—the protector—the mystic beasts have prepared gifts to signify your relationship with them."
Gifts? They wish to give me gifts? Even regardless of presents, I would still help them...
But I just nodded. One must adapt to any situation thrown at them.
Soon, the large and firey Phoenix stepped forward. One of the babies moved shyly, gently perching on my shoulder and managing to put a necklace on me.
It was very beautiful, a glittering rosemary gold encrusted with very precious red, orange and yellow jewels. At the end of necklace where the phoenix head was, there was a large red stone. It looked similar to a ruby yet different at the same time.

Next came the Dragons. They gifted me with an earring. It was a Dragon and the carving wrapped around my ear, seemingly whispering something into my ear. It was made out of a sparkling material.
Then came the Unicorn and Pegasi. An Alicorn wrapped a charm bracelet around my wrist and each of the three species placed a delicate charm on it.
Though they were all made of a silver-look-alike, I knew each one would be more precious than the majority of other materials.
Soon came the Griffins who gave me an anklet. It was strange that it was an anklet of all things, they weren't very common amongst most humans and usually, only the Gypsies or dancers wore them.
But the most surprising thing definitely came from the Thunderbird. Unlike the other races who had gifted jewellery based items, they gave me a set of armour.
It managed to look beautiful while still fulfilling its purpose. Sleeves looked like feathers, made from a glowing blue material. There were even hints of yellow on the armour itself. The bird-like theme was continued throughout the whole design, causing the overall appearance to become more pleasing to the eye. There was even a sword to go with it.
I was still in half-shock. These arrogant creatures gifted me with some very beautiful things—all of which would have come out their own treasure stash. And by the looks of it, most of it was also handcrafted.
Handcrafted thing by the mystic creatures of the realm would surely cause an uproar and then the world would focus their attention on me. I can't have that happen till I own enough power for the world to bow down.
I thanked the creatures and soon they took flight and left. The clearing started to become what it should be—clear. That's when I noticed Quel, a small squirrel sitting stubbornly atop his bowed head.
It was a sight to see I tell you, a tall male basically cowering under such a small and docile creature.
I walked over chuckling, reaching my hand out to the small creature, it immediately jumped onto me before scrambling up to my shoulder. Quel got up, glaring at it. They both had a glaring contest before Quel blinked, losing the match.
With an arrogant smirk of victory on the squirrel's face, he sprang over to Quel and bit his wrist, drawing blood. The tiny thing then drew its own blood and pushed it into Quel's. I was shocked, this little thing knew how to form a contract?
Soon, the originally ordinary squirrel's appearance started to change. Once brown fur turned to a fiery red and twin golden horns protruded where the ears were. White patches surrounding his eyes and behind them—on the other side of his head of course—were two gold spikes.

The nurse of the Academy stared in shock. Then, she quickly congratulated the fuming Quel.
"Congratulations young man on your spirit pet! This is the once seen in a thousand millennium Blood Fire Squirrel! It is my pleasure to see such a powerful creature!"
Quel looked shocked at the small fiery thing being some rare beast. But it was still a squirrel to him!
Arrogantly, the little red thing once again jumped over to my shoulder, ignoring Quel's angry look of displeasure.

Two Existentialists | S.R.
"How many existentialists does it take to screw a lightbulb?" Spencer asked with a small laugh. Once again the room was silent. You faintly heard Agent Rossi mutter, "Don't.""2. One to change the light bulb and one to observe how it symbolizes an incandescent beacon of subjectivity in a netherworld of cosmic nothingness," he said. The room was silent still, until you laughed. His eyes looked up at yours in confusion. "Wouldn't they sit in the dark and hope that the bulb decided to light again? An existentialist would never change the bulb. He would allow the darkness to exist," you questioned.-#1 #spencerreid#1 #mgg#1 emilyprentiss
