- "Everything Is Wrong With A Guy Blushing."
I gape at Seneca in open shock
How could she leave out this important detail?!
"You are, by no means my brother, Alpha Daemon. So stop with the false comments," Seneca snaps, her tone so cold and biting, I almost feel sorry for the guy at the other end.
"Not your brother?! How can you say that, Sister? You are the only sibling I have!" He exclaims in mock anger, and places his hands on his hips, glaring at Seneca with an expression so hurt and earnest, I'd have asked Seneca to apologize to him, if it weren't him who stirred all the trouble.
"I am the only daughter of my Mother and Father! So don't you dare pull this Brother bullshit," Seneca sneers furiously, taking a step closer to him in anger.
All false humor drops from his previously playful expression in a second, and he glares at Seneca too, taking a step forward and getting in her face as well.
Uh oh.
This might not end well.
"I wouldn't 'dare'," He mocks her further, smirking when he sees that he's got Seneca riled up.
Crap, she's giving him exactly what he wants.
I reach forward and hesitantly place one hand on her stiff shoulder, trying to calm her down and think rationally. "Seneca..." I mutter, trying to grab her attention.
Her stiff shoulder goes even stiffer at my call, and then she turns to glance at me. She then sees the warning and almost pleading look in my eyes, and nods her head very slightly, almost an imperceptible shake of her head, and exhales roughly. Her shoulders loosen and her body goes lax under my palm as her forces herself to relax.
Thank Goddess.
"What are you doing so close to my land?" Seneca asks, changing the topic of conversation.
"Visiting my beautiful Mate here, of course." He declares with an almost triumphant edge in his hard voice, smirking as he leans to the right and pulls Nora close to him in a tug, wrapping his arm around her shoulder.
She yelps in surprise but snuggles close to him immediately, getting cozy in his arms.
"Really?!" I blurt out, shocked.
"Yeah..." Nora replies to my question with a feeble nod, and reaches up, pulling down the neckline of her high-neck blouse to reveal her pale, slender neck.

There lay, clear as day across the pale skin that stretches across her neck and collar bone are two holes scarring the skin.
Which are undoubtedly, the mark of two fangs.
He marked her.
"You let him freakin' mark you?" I exclaim, unable to hide my shock at her stupidity.
A mark is something so...permanent, how could she give it up to him?!
He is not her type.
"What's wrong with him marking me?! He's my Mate for Goddess' sake!" Nora exclaims, glaring at me. "Besides, you act as if you haven't done anything yet," She appraises me up and down, smirking.
I blush immediately.
CRAP. Why did I have to blush so darn easily?!
"HAHAHA." Daemon bursts out laughing suddenly, as if he heard the funniest joke in the history of jokes.
I turn my head away in embarrassment.
As if to add spite, he points a finger at my face, and throws his head back, laughing even harder.
I wanna punch him now.
"Your M-Mate actually b-blushes?!" He wheezes out in between raucous laughter.
I glower at him.
"I didn't think you of all people would get such a girl as a Mate." Daemon chortles at my expression, as if he found making me angry amusing.
Asshole.
Seneca crosses her arms across her chest, looking at him flatly.
"What is wrong with a guy blushing?" She inquires, cocking one shapely brow inquisitively.
"Everything is wrong with a guy blushing! A real man does not blush!" He shakes his head at me, 'tsking' with pity.
"Well, then," Seneca replies, nodding.
What?!
Is she siding with him?!
She turns her body slightly, angling it to face Nora.
"Lenora. Just letting you know, one time when we were kids, he actually pissed his pants when—"
"Okay, okay! I get it! EVERYONE BLUSHES!" Daemon interrupts Seneca mid sentence coming In-between them and waving his arms like a maniac.
And the best part, his cheeks are red.
It's my turn to laugh now.
I point at him and throw my head back in obnoxious laughter, laughing louder than I do usually. He glares at me and looks away, but I can still see the red tinting the tips of his ears, and I laugh even harder.
'Take that, Daemon!' I want to yell, but I refrain from doing it, because let's face it, I'm not that brave.

Or courageous.
Or cocky,
Or— okay, I'll stop. You get the memo.
"Shut up, Mike." Nora interrupts, crossing her arms and frowning disapprovingly at me.
Well, it seems like her Mate is more important to her than her best friend.
Or ex-BFF.
I should stop forgetting that.
I raise my brows at her defensiveness, but stop laughing anyway. I nod my head slowly at her, letting my eyes roam over her in a way that clearly conveys my feelings.
I thought it was, 'Bros before Hoes'? my eyes tell her.
She looks stricken for a moment, and then swallows, turning away.
If that's the case, okay, then.
I turn away from her as well, my hands automatically going up to clutch the straps of my backpack, fiddling with the thin strap.
"It's getting late, I gotta go." I announce, but it seems like Seneca didn't hear me at all, because she's locked in an intense staring match.
With Daemon.
"Seneca?" I call, and she jerks in surprise.
I was right.
"Yeah?" She breaks her hard stare from the glaring Alpha reluctantly, turning to meet my gaze.
"I'm leaving—" I start, but as if the Goddess heard my prayers, the bell rings, interrupting me.
"Yeah," she replies and turns around to me. "We gotta go," she says, more to herself, and turns back to Daemon one last time, throwing him a glare packed with venom and malice.
I shiver involuntarily at the amount of negative energy radiating from the two Alphas.
"C'mon," she wraps an arm around my neck in a rare display of affection — because the two of us hate PDAs with a passion — and leans forward, kissing me softly on my lips.
I look at her in surprise when she pulls back, and she just taps my cheek and saunters away, leaving me to stand there for a moment, dazed and disoriented before I finally collect myself and scramble to join her.

"Who the heck is he?" I ask, as I rush over to Seneca, the moment I spot Her standing outside my classroom door.
She slowly straightens up from her lazy position, and smiles slightly. She then turns around, walking in the direction of my next class.
Yeah, she walks with me to all classes. So what?
"Seneca, don't ignore my question." I snap, getting frustrated at her calmness. I stalk forward and two steps ahead of her and turn around, blocking her path.
"Who is he?" I repeat each word carefully, not minding the stares I'm getting for my uncharacteristic behavior.
Seneca glances to my right and left slightly, and then turns back to me. She sighs. "He's not my brother in any way, if that's what you want to know."
"Then how do you know that he pissed his pants?" I raise one brow, imitating her signature stare by crossing my arms over my chest.
But it doesn't seem to have the effect that hers does.
She looks at me with a bored expression.
"Really? You're asking this to me now?" She asks, placing her hands on her hips as well.
"Really," I repeat, not moving an inch.
"Fine, he's the son of my mother's boyfriend, whom she had met before meeting my Father, and broke up with later," She says quickly, and steps around me, walking forward.
I stand there confused for a moment, before hurrying to catch up with her once again. "That's all?"
"That's all," she answers, shrugging.
"No. There's more to it." I persist, not willing to leave this issue just yet.
"Nothing of consequence," Seneca says cuttingly in an ice-cold tone, getting defensive as she glowers at me.
I flinch, jerking back slightly in hurt.
She opens her mouth in shock when she realizes what she did, but I raise one hand to stop her.
"It's okay. I won't push it."
She opens her mouth to say something more, but I lean forward and plant a small kiss on her forehead, in between her brows, like the day she did when she told me to move in with her, and turn around, quickly making my way to my next class.
But no matter how much I tell myself it's okay, that we can get past all this, I can't help but feel like our pasts are going to be a huge shadow looming over us until both of us are willing to clean the skeletons in our closets.

The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield
***The wrong girl is sometimes The Right One.*** Charlotte Samuels thought she'd be stuck waiting tables at Marlow's until all her debts are paid off-in about ten thousand years or so. She definitely didn't expect a marriage proposal from the arrogant Brandon Maxfield who was blackmailed by his father to make her his wife if he didn't want his least favorite cousin to run Maxfield Industries. Charlotte's instinct was to say HELL NO! but she's stumped by a few obstacles: 1.) His old man Martin Maxfield is dear to her heart and has been recently deteriorating in health. 2.) She gets a million dollars if she stays married to Brandon for a year. 3.) She would rather like the opportunity to teach the attractive but awfully rude man a few lessons he didn't think he needed from a 'teenage gold-digger' which was his term of endearment for her on their first date-er, business meeting. So what's a girl got to do, right? Sure, she's young and a little rough around the edges but there's something her would-be husband didn't know about her yet-she's nothing like he ever expected. Thrust into the glitzy world a standard-issue Mrs. Maxfield would fit perfectly and rule with impeccable social grace, Charlotte will either have to force herself into the mold or break free of it, risking what little she has left for everything that she can gain.*** Copyright © 2014 by Nina Tippett.
