There's a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch and it's bringing me out the dark
Finally, I can see you crystal clear
Go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your ship bare
Taehyung took a deep breath as he heard how Jinyoung began to sing the first verse to their battle song. Both boys were currently performing the song in front of both Namjoon and Jungkook. To say Taehyung was a bit nervous would be a complete understatement. The boy was so nervous that it was practically eating him up.
Him and Jinyoung were currently performing for the first time on the big battle stage and while the grey haired boy loved to say that he was completely over his stage fright, he wasn't. Tonight him and Jinyoung would battle against each other and the older boy was absolutely killing every note that left his mouth. The boy could sing very well, that much had become very clear to the younger boy during the past week.
Jinyoung an Taehyung had been practicing all week in order to perfect their battle. The both of them had agreed that they should give it their full 100% and thus the two of them had sung the song together every day and even gave each other tips on how to improve. In the short amount of time the two had spend together they had become good friends but that didn't mean that any of the two would go easy on the other. No, both wanted to win and would give their all for it.
Soon it was Taehyung's turn to sing and immediately the boy began to sing in his beautiful deep tone. Of course he hadn't forgotten what Jungkook had thought him and thus when the grey haired boy hit the part where Jungkook wanted him to sing as high as possible he raised the tone of his voice and hit the notes perfectly. Sure it was only practice time now but if the student knew that he could do it now then he could do it it the real battle as well.
A small smile began to form onto Taehyung's face as he heard himself sing the notes he so desperately feared well and suddenly a boost of confidence began to fill inside the boy. Without thinking twice the grey haired boy began to move his body a bit to the beat while just going with the flow.
Meanwhile Jungkook was watching the two contestants with a smile on his face. The brunette had high hopes for this duo, mainly because Taehyung was one of the two singers. The boy's voice was very unique and he would without a doubt become one of the favourites of the public. Taehyung just had the whole package when it came to uniqueness of his voice, looks and character.

Jinyoung on the other hand had an amazing voice as well. The boy was truly a sight to see and both boys and girls would definitely swoon over him. However the boy's voice was great but not as unique as Taehyung's. Exactly that is why Jungkook had increased the difficulty for the latter. He wanted a fair battle for the both of them.
As soon as both boys were done with their song and the music stopped playing both Jungkook and Namjoon began to clap their hands together while smiling at the two contestants. This would without a doubt be one of the best battles of this season of the voice and the fact that it would be Jungkook's team who would provide it made both the coach and his producer very happy and proud at the same time.
"That was great." Namjoon began to speak before he walked over to the two contestants. Immediately the brunette followed him while a sparkle was visible in his eyes. Tonight would finally be the night of the battles and while the public would see them in multiple weeks, they actually all were done tonight which meant that tonight Jungkook would have to choose his winners.
Of course the moment the idol had put together his contestants in a battle he had known damn well if one of them was better or more unique than the other. However he did try his best to not get biased by any of his contestants by increasing the difficulty for the somewhat better singers in his team. He wanted everyone to have a shot and that is exactly why he had put the best against the best. The fairer the battle the fiercer the show they would put on.
"Yeah I agree. You both are amazing singers." Jungkook spoke as soon as Namjoon was done talking. Immediately the brunette focused on Jinyoung while a smile was decorating his lips. "Jinyoung try to watch your timing okay? Other than that your performance is absolutely perfect." The coach spoke and immediately Jinyoung nodded back understandingly. Ever since his blind audition the black haired boy had had some timing issues and while he had worked hard on it, it still was not perfect.
Jungkook then shifted his gaze over to Taehyung and smiled at the small grey haired boy. The boy looked at him with big puppy eyes and to Jungkook he looked absolutely adorable. "As for Taehyung, I loved it when you let the tense posture drop and began to swing on the beat. Try and do that even more." Jungkook spoke in a soft friendly tone while his eyes kept lingering on Taehyung.

To Jungkook is was as clear as crystal that the older boy was still insecure about his singing and sometimes even a bit afraid to show what he truly was capable of. However when the grey haired boy did let himself go he could do so much more and was truly a potential finalist. The fact that Taehyung however failed to see it himself made Jungkook very determined to tell him exactly how good he was. It would be a shame if someone with a voice like Taehyung would give up on singing just because of some stupid insecurities.
Immediately Taehyung nodded enthusiastically while looking at Jungkook with a sparkle in his eyes. The younger boy had once again given the grey haired boy a compliment and Taehyung absolutely loved them. Anything positive Jungkook said about Taehyung made the older boy's heart skip a beat.
As Namjoon gave Jinyoung some extra tips Jungkook took that as a chance to walk up closer to Taehyung and immediately the older boy's eyes grew big as he noticed that the idol was now only a small two steps away from him. Jungkook was smiling friendly at Taehyung while the older began to feel very nervous all of a sudden.
Slowly Jungkook raised one of his hands before he laid it on one of Taehyung's shoulders and softly squeezed it. The motion made the grey haired boy feel shivers down his spine and he inhaled sharply while looking at the boy in front of him with nervousity practically written all over his face.
Jungkook smiled friendly at the contestant before he set another step towards Taehyung, decreasing the distance between the two drastically. "Don't be nervous Tae, you're an amazing singer." The brunette spoke in a soft tone while looking at Taehyung with a generous look on his face. the boy did mean everything he said and he hoped that that message came across to Taehyung. The boy needed to truly let go of all his insecurities and start to see what he was actually worth. The boy was practically a star already, the only thing he needed was a push in the right direction.
Taehyung slowly nodded slightly while the nervous feeling in his chest began to increase with every second Jungkook stayed so close to him. This was a situation the boy could have only dreamt of before. The fact that he was standing so close to none other than Jungkook himself almost made him faint right there.
However due to the boys nerves soaring through his veins the boy didn't see it at first at all when Jungkook suddenly leaned even closer before he softly whispered something in Taehyung's ear. "Don't tell the others but you're my favourite." The brunette spoke before he leaned back again and send a wink Taehyung's way.
Immediately Taehyung's eyes became even bigger with shock and he inhaled sharply. Had he heard this right? Had Jeon Jungkook actually called him his favourite? Unable to process everything that was happening Taehyung just nodded slightly while his body went on automatic pilot. Never in a billion years had the boy thought that he would ever had a chance to meet Jungkook and now he was the boy's favourite contestant? This must be a really good dream.
Softly Jungkook began to laugh when he noticed the big eyes of the boy in front of him and he quickly took a few steps back. "Keep practicing you two and can you please send in the next two so we can give them some tips?" Jungkook spoke as Taehyung and Jinyoung were done with practicing on the big podium.
Immediately both boys began to nod before they made their way off the podium and back to the practicing room. As Jungkook watched both boys backs he smiled slightly while a soft look became visible on his face. Taehyung's shyness was what held him back but it was also what made him ten times more likeable than he already was. At least the boy wasn't some big show off who wanted nothing more but show everything they could do without any of it being actually good.
As Taehyung's retreating figure turned the corner and went out of sight Jungkook softly shook his head while another smile broke out on his face. Only one thought kept roaming the boy's mind as he continued his work with great passion.
