《Dungeon from the Void》B3 | Chapter 12 - Dawn's Trip and Jake's Troubles

Dawn
The first thing I see when I leave the dungeon is a small open field with a few tents on each side of it.
Since it's nighttime right now, I try to dim my flames as much as possible while also shrinking my size.
This should be enough to hide myself from the people on the surface.
Now, it's time to go 'borrowing' some new things for Fenrir!
After some brief snooping to make sure no one is around, I find a shiny new spear within a sleeping person's tent.
I quickly put it in my little mini storage before sneaking back out of the tent.
It's a good thing Wisps get a mini-storage, otherwise I would only be able to bring one thing at a time to Fenrir.
Too bad it can't fit very much.
I look around for a little bit for other people before checking out each tent that has no one nearby.
I continue doing this for a couple of hours before I start having difficulty finding anything new to 'borrow.'
So far, I have been able to find a nice potion of slightly higher quality than any of the ones we have seen as of yet, a shiny new shield, a couple different types of poisons, and a steel dagger.
Oh yeah, and that spear that I found earlier laying around in that sleeping man's tent.
Maybe I should check out that large building next?
It looks important.
As I begin floating over towards it, I hear a commotion coming from behind me.
"Someone stole my shield!" A shout can be heard from one of the tents I had 'borrowed' from.
Soon after, another shout can be heard from a different tent, "My dagger is missing!"
Okay, maybe I shouldn't be too ambitious on my first trip.

I slowly begin to float back towards the dungeon entrance as more shouts can be heard throughout the tents.
Fortunately, I manage to reach and enter the dungeon before any of them notice me.
I mentally sigh the moment I reach the safety of Fenrir's dungeon.
Fenrir notices me the moment I enter the dungeon and instantly asks, "So how did it go? Are you okay?"
I turn a light pink out of embarrassment before quietly saying, "I am fine."
"That's good," Fenrir says as I teleport to his core.
I then pull out all of the 'borrowed' loot I had gotten while on the surface to show him.
"This is all of the stuff I found while I was on the surface," I proudly tell Fenrir while glowing purple with pride.
Jake
"The monsters here are so easy to kill!" Arthur says with arrogance as we finish off the tenth room of the first floor.
"I know, right? Are all dungeons this easy?" Arnold responds, trying to curry favor with the young noble as usual.
It's times like these that I wish that I wasn't a part of Arthur's party.
Unfortunately, my best friend is also in his party, and I am not willing to leave her alone with these arrogant idiots.
I glance at Roselyn as Arthur opens the door to what should be the mini-boss room.
Why did she have to fall for that idiot?
I'm not even sure how he managed to get a diving pass in the first place!
Wasn't he supposed to be on bad terms with the City Lord?
Then again, he is the son of a Lady, so it's possible that he got one thanks to her.
I focus again as we reach the end of the tunnel.

Arthur opens the door, revealing the mini boss as it immediately gets up from its place on the other side of the room.
He then rushes in with his enchanted blade, followed shortly by Arnold.
Roselyn joins them with her daggers as I raise my bow to fire at the mini boss.
My arrow hits the monster in the paw right as Arthur raises his enchanted blade and sloppily slashes in the monster's direction, hitting it at an awkward angle and only damaging it thanks to the sharpness enchantment on his sword.
Arnold rushes in with his spear and impales one of the two wolves next to the mini-boss.
Jason finally catches up to the others and raises his great shield to protect Roselyn.
Meanwhile the idiot next to me finally manages to shoot an arrow into the mini boss' side.
The battle doesn't last very long, but Arthur manages to get himself hurt from the breath attack anyways despite being CL 5.
I sigh after the battle is over.
What idiot decided that sending him to a dungeon was a good idea?
He is basically just relying on his equipment and cultivation at this point!
"You did great, Arthur!" Roselyn exclaims in excitement.
Seriously?
I sigh again, deeper this time.
It's times like these that I wish Roselyn wasn't such an airhead.
By the time we reach the third room of the labyrinth, we have already gone through two extra paths that we didn't need to go through.
First it was through Arthur's pick, then it was Arnold's pick.
I hope that whenever we finish this puzzle, we actually manage to pick the correct door.
Speaking of puzzles, whose idea was it to have Arthur of all people do this puzzle?
Even the idiot would have been a better choice than him!
To prove my point, Arthur says, "Who cares about puzzles," before pushing random buttons on the wall, causing a bunch of wolves to spawn within the room.
I sigh before raising my bow to start killing off the wolves.
Maybe I can convince Roselyn to change her mind about Arthur?
I fire an arrow into one of the wolves' skulls, killing it in an instant.
Jason shields me from one of the wolves as the others go about fighting the rest of them.
I fire another arrow before ducking back behind his shield.
The fight doesn't last for long before we finish off all of the wolves.
"Alright, let's go through this door!" Arthur immediately announces whilst pointing at the door to the left of the entrance.
Of course, the instant we pass through the door, it seals itself shut behind us.
Why?
What did I do to deserve this?
Arthur doesn't even seem fazed as he marches on further into the room.
I notice Roselyn glancing at him in admiration for some reason as she follows after him.
Never mind.
It's probably too late to change her mind by now.
I guess I am stuck here for the time being.
I follow after the others without a word.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

Legends of Balarel - A Leisurely LitRPG
Glenn Redwood has longed to become an Adventurer since he was a young boy, and has focused every waking moment on that goal since turning 14. Answering the challenge of the Gods of Balarel, he has fought Monsters, Leveled, and grown stronger. Yet the day before his 16th birthday, the day he will earn his dream or lose it forever ... the Gods have made a wager. And no mere mortal wishes to draw the attention of the Gods. ***** This is my crack at writing a leisurely LitRPG. My focus is more on telling interesting stories set in a world where people live under a MMORPG-like ruleset enforced by the Gods, and less on writing another story where the MC gets massive stat boosts every chapter before heading off to wreck the world. There will be plenty of blue tables (it’s LitRPG!) but my Adventurers are just starting out. This fic is about the journey, not the destination, so expect everyone to Level ... leisurely. Updates: M-T-W-Th. I’ll post 3000-4000 words a day, or 12000-15000 words a week. If this posting pace ends up being too much for me, I reserve the right to slow posts down a bit. Inspirations: Blessed Time (Royal Road) Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon? (Anime) Trails in the Sky (JRPG Series) MC: My MC is a genuinely good person who’s both a talented warrior and tactically savvy. He prefers to solve problems without violence but will resort to force if necessary to protect his friends or innocent people. I’m tired of stories starring anti-hero MCs facing endless doom and gloom, so I wanted to write a nice guy with an adventurous spirit who helps people in a thriving fantasy world. That’s all.
