Fenrir
Several hours later
I pause my cultivation to check on how much mana I have regenerated so far.
Name: Fenrir
Race: Dungeon Core
Element: Void
EXP Level: 7
EXP: 48/80
Cultivation Level: 5
Cultivation to next Level: 1%
Mana: 26.41/70
Secondary Tabs: Dungeon Status, Skills List, Talents List, Achievements List, Starter Environments
Okay, that should be plenty enough to finish the floor.
Although it's kind of annoying to see the number for my cultivation progress not change at all after seven hours of cultivating...
Maybe it's best not to think about that.
I turn my attention towards the sixth floor before searching through it to find Dawn.
"Are you done cultivating for now?" I suddenly hear Dawn's voice come from the fortress.
Wait, she's in the fortress...?
I turn my attention to the source of her voice and find her in a human of all things.
Huh, I didn't expect her to enter anything other than the wolves.
Although I'm not sure why.
"How does it feel to be in a bipedal creature instead of a quadrupedal one?" I ask her out of curiosity.
Dawn makes a strained looking face in the human's body – obviously still not used to having a face in the first place – as she answers, "It's strange."
I guess she still hasn't learned how to talk like they do, considering that she is still using telepathy.
"How so?" I ask her as she manually moves her facial muscles with her hands.
"Well," she says in a strange tone, "for one, it's weaker than the wolves."
"Oh?" I ask in surprise.
I was kind of expecting the humans to be stronger than the wolves.
Considering the number of wolves that they have killed that is.
Then again, that's likely because of their weapons and cultivation, and not their natural strength.

"It also just feels weird to stand on two legs instead of four or, well, none," Dawn adds as she stumbles a bit.
"That makes sense," I say before watching her for a few seconds and adding, "I am going to go finish up this floor now. Have fun!"
"Okay," Dawn replies as she continues stumbling about and making sounds in an attempt to talk.
I wonder if I will be like that whenever I get my avatar?
Then again, my avatar will probably be quadrupedal, considering my preference towards them over bipedal creatures.
Although I will still have to get used to being in an actual body.
All that aside, it's time to start my work on the mini boss room.
I ended up deciding to make this room a strange combination of bridges, taiga, and something new that I figured out through the ability to decrease somethings temperature that I learned from the starter environment.
I begin by clearing out a large amount of space for the room.
The room itself will have several different little islands with tiny little taiga on each of them. The islands themselves will only be about a dozen or so meters in radius, with several trees on each, and they will all be connected through wooden bridges.
Beneath the bridges will be a moat spanning a dozen or so meters in depth with freezing cold water at the bottom.
And by freezing cold, I mean cold enough to freeze someone alive if they stayed in for a few minutes.
I was pleasantly surprised by how little time it took to figure out how to lower the temperature of water.
Then again, I had already done it with the air beforehand, so the water wasn't too different.
Anyways, on each island will be a combination of lycans and normal wolves.

As for the mini boss itself?
After some thought, I had realized that I shrunk my wolves to make the fen, so why couldn't I just shrink the lycans to make another new creature?
Surprisingly, the system even gave this smaller lycan a name after I finished it.
They are called lycan halflings, which is a fitting enough name considering that they are about half the size of the lycans, if not slightly smaller.
In the end, I decided to make a lycan halfling the mini boss of the sixth floor.
"Fenrir!" I am interrupted from my work as Dawn calls my name.
I stop clearing out space for the room before turning my attention to her and finding her still in the human from earlier.
"Is something wrong?" I ask her out of worry.
"What? No, I just wanted to show you that I can finally talk in this form!" Dawn says through the human's mouth in a soft voice.
Oh.
"That didn't take you all that long to figure out," I say, making her giggle for some reason.
"Anyways, I am going to go back to work on the mini boss room," I say to her before turning my attention back to the room and continuing my work on clearing out the space.
Inside of a cabin near The Forgotten Marsh
"So it's true then? The dungeon core really absorbed the energy within the orb?" a distorted voice suddenly asks as a figure wreathed in shadows appears in the middle of the cabin.
"Yes, it is true," a man wearing a black cloak says as he bows his head.
"That's good then," the distorted voice says as the distortion begins to fade, "we must protect this dungeon until it is strong enough to open a portal for us."
The man in the cloak looks surprised before he suddenly looks up at the sound of the figures true voice as the shadows slowly dissipate.
Standing before him is a being with red eyes, two sharp fangs, and extremely pale skin.
The being exudes an aura unmistakably at a higher Tier than the cloaked man as a smile begins to emerge on his face.
"A portal to where, your highness?" the cloaked man asks, turning formal the moment the Vampire reveals himself.
"The birthplace of the founder of our empire's long time companion," the Vampire Prince of the Empire of Eternal Night says before pausing for a few seconds.
The cloaked man removes his cowl and reveals his own vampiric features as the Prince finishes.
"The void."

NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY: The Adventures of The Creeping Bam (BOOK ONE: The Job)
TAO is a broken world held together with nothing but magic and the will of the gods who protect it and its people. Then thousand years ago THE SUNDERING struck and Tao was almost torn apart by a terrible magical cataclysm which resulted in the planet almost being halted in its journey through the cosmos. It took all the power the gods of Tao could muster to restore its orbit and set it turning again, but in their efforts it was forever changed – its axis was drastically altered, and it now spins in such a way that one face of the world is forever turned from the sun it orbits, leaving half the planet in perpetual darkness. The various humanoid races that survived and now thrive within the habitable parts of THE DAY LANDS have come to live in perpetual fear of what lives beyond THE BORDERLANDS that separate them from whatever dwells within THE NIGHT LANDS, but for ten millennia it has kept its secrets. The land of RUNDAO languishes under the rule of their warlike Northern neighbours, the TEKTEHRAN EMPIRE, while a small, ragtag band of motley adventurers ply their mercenary trade fighting monsters and protecting the common man from the various dangers that haunt the night and prowl the hinterlands on the edges of civilization. THE CREEPING BAM have amassed a modest reputation in their years together, but they’re still just a small-time party of sellswords, thieves, outcasts and mages. They’re also exactly the kind of underdogs the people of Tao doesn’t yet realise are needed to save the world from the encroaching darkness they doesn’t even know is coming … This is a love letter and homage to the high-fantasy worlds of the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Warhammer and the sword & sorcery cinema and literature I fell in love with as a kid growing up in the 80s, from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (and the awesome Schwarzenegger movie, STILL my favourite fantasy film EVER), The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and Ron Howard and George Lucas’ Willow, to the more grown-up and edgy worlds of grimdark masters George RR Martin and (my all-time favourite) Joe Abercrombie, as well as a BIG DOLLOP of Terry Pratchett’s immortal Discworld series. IMPORTANT: This story contains material which some readers may consider to be mature, such as battle violence, some strong language and occasional mild sexual scenes. If this is not your kind of thing, this story is not for you. I am also serializing this story on Tumblr, Wattpad, Quotev and Sweek.
