《The Dragon of Dreams》Chapter 91: Some Alone Time With My Thoughts

Early Evening - Late Spring : Kingdom of Kaelallan

- Lucy Kaelallan ~

It had been a few hours since I sat outside Father's room.

After Martha came back with the sweets, I got ‘reprimanded’ for not listening to her, but after failing to convince me, she let me just stay here.

After a couple hours, Martha started to get worried again and tried to reason with me again. "Miss, please go to your room. There is no reason for you to sit in the hall so anxiously."

"I'm fine.. I'd rather wait.."

Martha's face was filled with concern. "Haah.. alright.. just please take care of yourself. I'm saying that not as your maid but as your family's friend.."

I felt a little shocked hearing her statement and held my head low. "I'm sorry.."

"Haah.. don't be sorry.." She bent down and put her hand on my head.

I looked up and saw her gentle smile that reminded me of Mother’s. -I guess waiting outside his room isn't going to do any good..- My room was just down the hall, so I could hear whenever Father’s door opened even if I was in my room.

I slowly got up and turned to walk back to my room.

*Click* The sound of Father’s door opening echoed down the hall.

I turned around to see a tall, muscular boy with void like black hair, wolf ears and a wolf's tail.

His facial features were enchanting and most of all, although the volume of his aura was mind bending, it had a surreal beauty to it.

He didn't really look familiar but all of his special traits stayed the same so I knew who it was immediately. -Vasilias..-

As Martha and I just stood there, stunned, he pointed back towards the door. "He's fine now."

-Huh? What does that mea.. OH RIGHT, FATHER!- I couldn't believe I had forgotten about why I was even here.

Snapping back to my senses, I ran into the door, nearly tripping over my nightgown.

I saw Father peacefully laying there, his breathing was steady and calm and he didn't seem to be in pain which made my panicking heart calm down.

This was a massive improvement to the last time I saw him. While I was with him earlier, even when he was sleeping his breathing would be rough and he would even groan and grip his head at times.

I looked back at the door with thankful tears coming to my eyes. -I don't know what you did, Vasilias.. but thank you..-

- Vasilias ~

It had been a few hours since I did my ‘procedure’ but while I was watching him, I managed to make some pretty cool discoveries even if they weren't super useful yet.

I needed to figure out a way to keep him asleep without using a dangerous method like jolting his brain with electricity but after some brainstorming, I figured out something that ended up working quite well.

I was watching his biometrics closely and managed to find a correlation between certain neurons firing in his brain, and certain reactions in his body.

There were some neuron chains that would fire and cause his heart rate to rise or fall and some that made his breathing rougher or smoother, so by watching which neurons were firing and observing their reactions, I could figure out which would keep him relaxed and asleep.

Whenever I saw that he was going to wake up, I would fire those neurons which would make him fall into a deeper sleep again.

-It took some trial and error to find though..-

Manipulating his neurons like that though gave me the ability to control his dreams or thoughts, although I had no idea what the dream or thoughts were about because I had no idea what memory or piece of information each neuron was tied to. I could only observe the reaction and guess.

-Its still pretty fascinating though..-

Although it was a cool tactic and such, I couldn't use it much because of my lack of knowledge around the brain. "Haah.." -Another area where I have to be extra careful..-

I was too worried that there would be some unknown consequences if I fiddled with them too much so I decided to not touch them outside of what was necessary to keep him asleep.

Snapping out of my thoughts, I looked back over to Oliver.

Most of the swelling had lessened and the bruising was almost completely gone, -I think I can finally step out..-

I had been staying by his side to make sure everything was progressing properly but now he was at a point where he would heal naturally.

-Thank the heavens..- I was dying to have a nap at this point.

Before I left the room, I created extremely small titanium needles that would hold his skull together so it would heal properly and not move around. -He shouldn't even notice them.-

Getting up from my seat, I had a good stretch and opened up the door.

Just down the hall I saw Lucy and Martha staring at me with wide eyes.

"He's fine now." I pointed back into the room before turning around and walking to the throne room, paying no mind to them.

Lucy sprinted into the room as I left, I even had to use a little wind magic to keep her from tripping.

-I guess she was worried huh..-

Walking down the hall, I got odd looks from all of the maids, most of them seemed to recognize me but those that didn't, left me alone because they saw their superiors did.

Without any more interruptions I quickly made it all the way to the shelter.

Once I got to the bottom of the lift, I looked around and noticed that the ground was still cracked and the vault was still open.

Inside the vault, there were various piles of dust and shards of metal. -Did I accidentally break some of them?-

I thought for a moment before shrugging my shoulders and deciding that it wasn't my problem before walking up and closing the vault.

As I walked away, I was reminded of something I took from the vault previously. -That sword that broke.. It felt quite nice to swing. Maybe I should make a new one..-

It was a solid idea but it was better to wait and decide after my nap since I would both need my whole focus to make it and I still wasn't sure if I wanted a weapon or not.

After thinking for a moment, I took a deep breath and shook my head. "Haah.." -I’ll think about it later..- I put away the thought as I walked towards the hotspring.

-First, a bath..- I quickly changed to my dragon form once I left the vault.

Climbing into the warm water, I completely submerged myself and just floated.

I felt weightless as I was embraced in the warm liquid. -It reminds me of when I was in the egg..-

Although my first memories after reincarnating were fuzzy, floating in the water clearly reminded me of the sensation.

The sensation made some old memories resurface, and made me start to wonder about certain things. -Where would I be if I never touched that tesseract.. would I even be alive?-

Comparing myself to Krystallo, I could figure out what kind of strength I would have, -and it's quite pitiful.. If I came to Kaelallan I might have actually died, or at the very least, Kaelallan would have fallen.-

Coming back up to the surface of the spring, I looked over and saw Ilios floating on his back.

Seeing his face of pure satisfaction reminded me of when we first met.

I wore a warm smile as I bathed in good memories for a while.

As I floated there, I started to get more and more sleepy, until I nearly fell asleep.

I looked over and saw Ilios in a deep sleep next to the hotspring. -He must have gotten out while I was lost in my thoughts.-

Figuring it was time to get some sleep, I slowly got out of the spring and gently picked up Ilios with my mouth.

I carefully brought him over to the cushions, being sure to not wake him as I lightly set him down on one of them.

Seeing that he was comfortable, I moved over to the other cushion and cleared my mind.

"Haah.." I curled up and closed my eyes, slowly drifting to sleep.
