《The Dragon of Dreams》Chapter 96: Flipped The Wrong Switch

Late Afternoon - Late Spring : Kingdom of Kaelallan

Coming to the top of the stairs, I saw the loli grandma standing at a book shelf, absorbed into whatever she was reading.

-Why is she here..-

Not wanting the trouble, I quickly walked behind a bookshelf.

-Well, lets see what is on this floor first..-

Each floor within the library was given a certain subject.

The first floor was mostly entertainment books and novels. The second floor was history, the third was math and the fourth and fifth floors were both mixes of magic theory and some.. darker history.

What I was hoping for was for the sixth floor to have some stuff on religion, pertaining to gods and maybe some hints on how they work or who they are, but the shelf I was looking at was just advanced magic theory.

-Oh come on..- Although it's possible that I'd read something that would expand my knowledge of magic, I had no need to get stronger and I always enjoyed things more when I would figure them out on my own. -Plus textbooks from earth made me automatically hate textbooks..-

Not managing to find anything interesting on the shelf I moved to the next one.

Time slowly started slipping away as I wasnt finding what I was looking for.

-How is there nothing that even has to do with religion..- Everything I had looked through on my half of the floor was all magic theory or some cool tid-bits of history even though it was almost entirely just history about Kaelallan.

Since I didn't find anything I needed in this section, I needed to check the other half of the floor.

The grandmaster was still on the floor, looking at various books I didn't care to look at. -She’s probably looking at magic theory..-

Coming out from around the bookshelf I started casually walking towards her.

"Only a handful of people can come up here kid, just walk back downstairs and don't make it hard on me.." She spoke without even turning around to see who I was.

"And why would I need to ask for permission to come up here?"

"Haah.. I don't know what noble family you come from, but just lea-" She slowly turned around as she was getting agitated before seeing me.

"How are you healing?" I gave a sarcastic smile as I tried to hold back a laugh.

She was wearing some sort of cast on her arm, but it was perfectly wrapped around her staff so she couldn't let it go.

-Pffft.. how does she sleep with that thing?!-

Although I was laughing inside, she didn't find it funny. "Not wearing a uniform, trespassing in the library and taunting a teacher.. to think a student would dare get so many violations in one go.. Haah.."

My smile quickly disappeared hearing her response. -Does she seriously not remember anything?- "You actually don't recognize me?"

"No?" She looked me up and down, even blushing slightly. "Why would I remember you? You're really.. cute but.."

"Damn, I didn't think I hit you that hard though.. to think you'd lose your memories."

She froze realizing what I was saying. "As if someone as weak as you could hurt me."

My pupils quickly contracted as I thinned the walls of my reserve some.

*VWOOOM*

The entire library immediately filled with a suffocating amount of mana as the grandmaster fell to her knees.

-Haah.. how can I actually let myself get mad at something like that..-

Realizing I accidentally nearly killed a few kids and the librarian on the bottom floor, I quickly pulled back in my aura.

When she called me weak, she said it as if she was talking to something insignificant. Her voice was full of confidence and arrogance. -She flipped a switch I didn't even know I had..-

*Gasp* The grandmaster was on her hands and knees gasping for air.

Her face was ghastly pale with cold beads of sweat dripping off her face.

"Maybe you remember me now?" Having taken a deep breath and calmed down, I squatted down and looked at her with a forced smile.

She slowly tilted her head up before looking me in the eyes for a second. "Y..you monster.."

"Ah right, that's what you called me before. You also attacked me first before I even opened the door to the office." I reached down and pulled up her chin so she would look at me in the eyes. "You should work on your manners."

*Thud*

Letting her go, she fell to the floor with a nervous shake.

"Haah.." -For a nation rank she's a bit more mentally weak than I expected..-

Doing a quick scan over her body to make sure she wasn't dying, I created a soft blanket and covered her in it. -Might as well give her something to remember me by this time.-

Turning back around, it was time to actually look through the rest of the books.

-Just one book on religion will suffice..-

- Lucy Kaelallan ~

After class, Viviana and I were having a rather late lunch.

"Is the ki-.. I mean.. is your dad doing better?"

"Mhmm!" Ever since father was healed by Vasilias, he was getting better by the day. I’d be a bad daughter if I wasn't super happy.

"I'm glad." She wore an awkward smile.

"Oh.. is your mother still not feeling good?" Seeing Viviana looking down, I figured it had to do with her mother.

During the whole disaster a few days ago, Viviana's family was directly caught up in it. Both of her parents passed out from it and her mother got sick immediately after waking up.

"The clinic said it had to do with mana exhaustion. They said it was common around the city after the disaster and it should clear up in a couple days."

When someone is exhausted from mana for an extended period of time, once they absorb mana again, it can be so fast that it makes the user sick. Although it's nothing life threatening, it can lead to other illnesses that are.

"So shouldn't it have cleared up by now?"

"Y..yeah.. My dad says it's nothing to be worried about but I can't help but be worried."

"Do you want to bring her to the royal clinic or send someone out to look at it?"

"No.. I don't want to burden you guys any more than I already have."

"Come on.. you should know by now that you're not burdening us.. maybe the doctor, but not us." I couldn't help but smile as I tried to cheer her up some.

"Haha.. Alright.. I'll talk to my parents to figure it out."

Just after Viviana finished talking, A wave of mana blew across the lunch room.

Although it didn't take long to realize who it was, it was incredibly startling.

I shot up from my seat figuring something bad was happening. "Follow me quickly.. I think Vasilias-" But before I could finish, the mana dispersed and thinned out.

"Huh? What did he do?" Viviana looked at me, concerned.

"I.. I’m not sure.." I looked around the now dead silent lunch room. Most of the people here were staring at me.

Embarrassed, I quickly sat back down and held my head low.

"Hehe, you know.. you're cute when you blush like that." Viviana looked at me with a smug smile.

I reluctantly looked up at her with a pout, my face red as a tomato.
