《The Dragon of Dreams》Chapter 128: Trip Preparations

Early Morning - Mid Summer : Bahamut Estate
“Well, now that Krystallo has gotten better at moving in her humanoid form, how about a trip?”
-Hm?- "Where to?"
"Well, I feel like my mother will kill me if I don't bring you guys to see her some time soon."
Krystallo looked up at Mother. "Won't us visiting alert the elders?"
"She just cant come to us, that doesn't mean we cant go to her."
Before anyone else could speak up there was something I needed to ask. "So when are we going to leave?"
"This afternoon or tonight, there are only a couple things I need to finish before we go."
"Alright, in that case I need to go check up on the pirate settlement by the temple so I'll be back in a bit."
Mother looked at me with wide eyes. "Pirate settlement? This is the first time I've heard of it.."
I glanced over at Father with slight disappointment. -Seriously?-
"Sorry.. I got a bit preoccupied.."
"Haah.." -I guess I can't blame him..- "Well you can explain to Mother while I'm gone. I won't be too long."
As I turned to the field, I got stopped by Mother again. "Ah, before you go.. should I send someone with you to show you how to activate the space rune?"
A confident smile slowly crept onto my face. "I won't be using the space rune so I'll be fine going alone."
"Wait what? How are you going to get there without the space rune? YOU ARE NOT FLYING THERE!" Mothers face immediately got serious as a wave of worry washed over her.
"Haha, calm down Mother, I won't be flying either."
"Then.. how?" Her face was filled with genuine confusion.
"Haha, I guess it's time to show you guys what I've been learning to use!"
Everyone immediately gave me a weird look.
"Well.." I casually walked out and sat in the middle of the field. "I'll be back later!" With a small wave, a gate encompassed Ilios and I making us vanish.

- Zachari Ragnarok ~
"Well.."
-What is he doing?- I looked at him with an odd curiosity.
"I'll be back later!"
-Hm?-
*Vwoom*
A black sphere suddenly appeared around him before instantly disappearing, leaving no trace of Vasilias or Ilios behind.
My entire body and mind froze.
Maria and Chloe both broke out into a cold sweat with pale faces and Osto was just as shocked as I was.
"Did he just.." Osto slowly turned his head to me and stared at me with wide eyes.
-He used space magic..- Slowly turning to him, my look of clueless surprise started to change to a smile.
As we stared at each other, our shock and awe quickly turned to excitement.
A feeling of pride like no other quickly filled us.
I puffed up my chest and held my head high. "I told you I'd raise him to be the strongest!"
Osto couldn't help but laugh in the good atmosphere. "Haha, I remember saying he was the next Bahamut as a joke several years ago but now its seeming possible."
"No.." I looked at him with a confident smile. "Vasilias will far surpass Bahamut!"
Although it was incredibly taboo to question Bahamut's strength, we didn't care.
We were simply proud to be raising the one who we believed would become the strongest dragon in existence.
- Vasilias ~
-Hehe.. I wonder how they reacted..-
Once I got into the void, I looked around to find the node of the temple space rune and found it fairly quickly.
-I've gotten more efficient using both space mana and my thruster magic.. lets see if I can use them in here now..-
Not wasting any time I created a small amount of hydrogen and lit the thruster.
-Hey.. that's way more efficient than I expected..- Although I wasn't moving fast at all, I didn't want or need to.
Not only was I not traveling very far, the faster I went, the more effort I'd need to put in to slow down.

-Oh shoot!- After only a couple seconds I realized I was passing it and slowed down. -I almost passed it already..- I quickly noticed my sense of scale was a bit off now that I was right next to it.
It was incredibly shrunk down compared to last time and was only the size of the physical space rune artifact. -Is it tiny because the rune isn't activated?-
After thinking about it for a moment, I lightly shrugged my shoulders and made a new gate right above it. -I'm sure I’ll figure it all out at some point..-
-I guess I should make the gate a bit more above the node than that actually..- I really didn't want to have to run through all the traps again and was honestly too nervous to find out what would happen if I created a gate that was under the ground or in a wall.
*Vwoom*
As the sphere faded, I found myself in the very top of the upper atmosphere.
-What the?! The gate was still only a bit above the node.. Just what is the ratio of distance in the void compared to the physical world..- As I thought about it, I finally started to realize just how ridiculously short the distances in the void were compared to normal.
-I need to.. be more careful about that in the future..- I was quick to realize how bad that could've been if I went a bit too far and it sent a chill down my spine.
As I fell through the upper atmosphere, the temple steadily came into view and the nearby coast line could be seen, which quickly snapped me out of my thoughts.
-Hey, they really followed through with their word..-
On the coast there was a fairly large dock with several large ships currently docked at it.
"Well, hold on Ilios. It'll be a hard landing!" Since it would be the first time most of the people here would meet me, I figured I'd make an entrance.
Changing to my humanoid form and grabbing Ilios, I used some thrusters to help me reach the ground.. a tad faster.
*CRACK*
*BANG*
Hitting the ground with excessive force, the sand beneath my feet turned molten.
-Hey, I guess I did get a bit stronger since last time..- Although I hit the ground quite a bit harder than last time, my knees weren’t strained as badly.
Letting down Ilios, I casually walked out of the puddle of molten glass and started checking out the port.
-For only starting a few months ago, this is a pretty good start..- The port was fairly simple, looking just like a large raised dock but it was pretty well built.
The joints where the support beams met each other were actually cut to fit just right into each other, making the dock really quite sturdy.
-But no one is here..- Although it was pretty cool to see the improvement, I was here to look for Captain Abbie. -They're probably in that big clearing.-
Figuring there wasn't anything else to see here, I made my way down the, now widened, trail through the forest.
As I got closer to the clearing I could hear the noise of several footsteps and some chatter.
"What was that?"
"I have no idea, it was too loud to be a cannon."
"I hope it's not a sea monster.."
"Calm down man, I'm sure whatever it was won’t bother us."
As I came around the corner I saw a group of 4 guys, all well armed with armor and swords, making their way towards me. -They havent noticed me yet?- A playful grin slowly crept onto my face. "Would you guys happen to know where Captain Lassar is?"

Author's note: You are reading a first draft, written mostly while drinking cheap whiskey. Expect it to read like hot garbage and I guarantee that it’ll meet your expectations. I’m a storyteller, not a writer - there’s a huge difference between the two professions. IMPORTANT! This story is told in a first-person limited, conversational style, with Emmett occasionally breaking the 4th wall and addressing the reader directly. This means that YOU and Emmett may have absolutely no idea why stuff is happening, because there will be little or no exposition or other POV's. Read the comments for spoilers, ask questions if you want to know something. This work incorporates blended aspects of Xianxia, Wuxia, Super powers, and Western Magic into a post-apocalyptic fantasy adventure. It is none of those things and all those things, mashed together. The MC is Over Powered, but so are many, many others. He just hasn't met them yet. Dear Student, What follows is an adaption of the diary of Emmett Carter before his Ascension. While the decades during and after the Aurora Apocalypse are lost to us, the Ascended himself has allowed us to publish this work so long as we warn the reader that it may not be entirely accurate or present an unbiased viewpoint of the events. One should also note that the Aurora was in flux during that time and some things that were possible in the early days are no longer possible, especially with the advent of the Akashic record. Editors have included footnotes when possible to explain pre-aurora technologies or concepts and how they relate to current magical technologies. The contents of this work may upset readers. If you’ve ever been in a natural disaster, had a house fire, witnessed a murder, lost a loved one to violence, or have a strong opinion on the sanctity of life, please do not read this. It contains dramatic scenes of a world in the throes of an apocalyptic event. There are no rainbows and unicorns, only loss, uncertainty, and death while the survivors struggle to rebuild their lives. Updates Thursdays and Sundays for now. The Tears of Kas̆dael
It was just supposed to be a game. A really, really great game, yes - but a game. Instead, Jasper got his heart ripped out by a brooding goddess and awoke to find himself in another world. No weapons, no skills. Naked. Trapped in a world full of ancient horrors, where gods and monsters still roam the earth, Jasper is forced to adapt quickly or die - and he's not ready to die. Good thing he's a mage. This is a high-fantasy novel with light LitRPG elements. It's not super-crunchy, but the system is an important part of the story. There is some light cursing and gore, but this is not a Grimdark novel. There will also be no harem. The current schedule is chapters on M-W-F of around 2000-2500 words, as well as occasional bonus chapters that provide background or insights into side characters. This is my first real attempt at writing a full novel, but the story is based on a world that I've been creating and re-creating since I was a child. I have an extensive "history" and religion, and even a semi-cohesive language system worked out, which will hopefully slowly shine through as the story progresses. I want to avoid having too many info-dumps, so I may from time to time post a bonus lore chapter that will explain some of the background for any who are interested.
