《Endless River (Isekai LitRPG)》Chapter 60 - Depature (END)

Hearing that he visibly shivered, "Hunting is scary, but I want to play", His voice sounded unwilling at the mention of hunting, which I found to be very interesting how the two brothers were so similar yet so different.
It was also interesting how these differences come into being, maybe one day when he was with his mother a monster attacked him out of nowhere and managed to leave a shallow injury before his mother saved him, making him very afraid at the prospect of pain and death, whereas his brother was a bit further away and just witnessed how his mother was so powerful and wanted to be like her and came to eat the pitiful monster who tried to attack them, getting all the glory and fun that came with hunting without any of the danger.
Of course, this was simply speculation but it should be something along those lines, just not one or two but several of them that subtly changed and affected the way he thought going forward.
I did not have the time to give them the attention they deserved but it was on my list of priorities, I only hunted with them for a bit and thought them to use their brains more and not just brute force.
"Alright we'll play but not right now", I also talked with him for a while then I wanted to ask him what he thought of his mother's absence and what role I played in it, but figured it'd be better to postpone it till they grew more mature and intelligent.
I broke off the link and went to check on Kali.
My goal of checking up on them was mainly to see whether they were able to voice out their thoughts because for some reason I thought they'd just be spouting gibberish.
Kali was perched on a low branch by the side looking at us, I jumped on the branch and sat beside her. She had grown quite a bit in this last period, though still smaller than I was by more than half a meter. After a while, I managed to link us.
"Hey stupid girl, do you also want to play?", Kali somehow seemed to quickly tell it was me and she stood up flapping her wings in a display of her joy.
"Big brooootherr!", I heard a gleeful young voice in my mind as she started to rub her face against mine which made me smile.
"Do you also want to hunt with the tigers?", I wanted to see what she was like.
"If you want, but I do want to play. but something else can you catch me if I ran with my full speed?", She did not particularly mind hunting it seemed, but she also liked to play. I liked it as well.

"Alright, well play and hunt, but first I'll give you something.", I gestured for her to follow me after I instructed the tigers to wait by the camp.
"What is it?", She asked curiously.
"Something, you'll like very much.", After flying for a while and making sure there was no one within a 700-meter radius, I told her what to do, "I'll show you something, but you have to quickly put your mana into it okay?", Just as I wanted to do that I thought of something, "After a while, you'll find yourself awake in a strange dark place, don't be afraid okay? and don't try to get out!", I made sure to emphasize the last line.
"Okay!", She puffed up her feathers and lifted her head as a clear sign of anticipation.
I quickly brought out the Stygian Tempest Heavenly Arts, seeing that she was also dazed looking at it, I sent a gust of wind towards her face waking her up.
She did as she was told and with a thud, she also fell down unconscious.
I used one of my Unique beast pouches and hid here there, and carefully put it away in my inventory.
I came back to the tigers and took them to hunt for a while because I noticed that Rajah was getting more cowardly and ShereKhan more brazen regardless of how close to death he gets every time, so I made them change roles.
Rajah had to be the vanguard and bear the brunt of their prey's attack while ShereKhan had to hide and attack with his full strength.
I quickly found a big lone wolf, he was strong even for a High Body Refinement, whereas the brothers were only upper Mid rank.
Seeing him from a distance, Rajah shivered however after glancing at me he seemed to gain a bit of courage which I thought was not optimal.
"Wait, someone is attacking the camp.", I bolted off in the opposite direction of the wolf, I also made sure to push ShereKhan not to be seen by the wolf and made a sound with my wings for the wolf to see us.
The wolf perked up its ears only to see a pitiful dark tiger looking at it visibly shaking, his previous vigilance was quickly thrown out the window as he immediately rushed towards it.
Rajah witnessing this scene immediately turned tail and ran, but the wolf was slowly catching up to him.
Then serpent-like bolts of lightning started to dance all around his body in a bewitching manner and increased his speed a bit.
But the wolf was still faster, just as it reached him and was about to jump, Rajah suddenly materialized purple lotuses, jumped on them, and rose from the ground, without looking back all of the bolts of lightning attacked the wolf behind him immobilizing him for a short second.

Just as the wolf was about to stand up, two giant elusive black tigers attacked him giving him no chance to dodge, one from the back and the other from the front.
A thunderous sound resounded, as the wolf coated himself with black flames that acted as a shield, ShereKhan jumped towards its back taking advantage of the opportunity that even though the wolf was not badly harmed he was stunned and momentarily immobilized by the lightning.
Rajah hesitated, but he knew that the wolf was strong and every bit of force was necessary so he also jumped towards his throat.
While the wolf was immobilized they managed to damage it, though not critically. Because the moment the wolf gained control over his body he bit Rajah in the shoulder making him roar screaming and three sharp pikes materialized in his tail which managed to hit ShereKhan in the paw. Fortunately, only one of them landed managing to pierce his paw. If that attack landed anywhere else he'd have been a goner.
I hurriedly opened my mouth from the tree I was hiding from and threw a fist-sized ball of dark energy toward the wolf.
The breath of dark energy was soundless and it was difficult to sense with one's spirit, Rajah suddenly moved blocking the path of the dark ball just as it was about to hit him, I made it change its direction and it landed directly on his head leaving a clean hole in which blood was gushing out.
[You have Killed a Body Refinement(High) Monster |Experience Points +4000|]
That was the advantage of Tenebrous Breath, it had a high versatility and could manipulate it mid-course to change its trajectory.
I landed beside them, and spoke to them both, "Well done, you're getting better! Eat it, and let's go.", They knew I was the one who killed it, I did not want to give them a free win because when I previously did they overestimated themselves so I had to remind them of their real strength.
I also explained to them the concept of names and told them about the names I gave them and the characters behind them to a certain extent which made them happy.
After they finished, I guided them to their specific beast pouch after making sure they understood the consequences of getting out.
I flew back to the camp to find all of the women waiting for me. I did not loiter any long and quickly went for the quote on quote carriage o more like a bag and all of them followed.
I also noticed that they added a simple rope ladder enabling them to climb from the bottom of the bag to the middle log in which their seats were.
"Screeech!"
I suddenly made a high-pitched cry making all of them jump in fright. I wanted to call for Ashe because the transportation only had seven places and I had to carry the other three on my back, which was not really ideal because it'd get too crowded and uncomfortable for me and them.
I singled out the three women who won't be using the transportation using small gusts of wind to give signals.
They were also the strongest and could hold on against the wind Meng Delan High Body Refinement also the one who made this ingenious bag, Cai Yi who was also High rank, and Jia who was upper Mid rank.
Everyone looked nervous and excited at the same time, me included. There was always a fine line between those two feelings.
I grabbed the end of the bag firmly with my claws and carried it just a bit so that I could make a bit of distance between the log and the ground, I instructed Shams to make small steps with memory transfer which he managed to finish fairly quickly thanks to his earth magic.
After all that was done, I called for Ashe to get closer and told her that she'd be carrying some of the others, I expected her to be a bit reluctant but she agreed easily.
She'd be carrying Meng Delan and Cai Yi, whereas I'd be carrying Jia and Shams. Since he was small and barely noticeable, I wanted him to see the scenery changing before his eyes and give him a real adventure.
The beast pouches would be used when we're close enough to the human city.
After everyone got in their place, I noticed that it was indeed heavy carrying the log and eight women but I still managed.
I gently turned south and started flying in that direction, eyes filled with anticipation but also anxiety.

Dear Spellbook (Rewrite)
Live. Study. Repeat. Tal never saw himself as an adventurer, but the call to adventure never much cared for his opinion. Despite his best efforts, his search for answers on the murder of his parents ever draws him into danger. Accompanied by a group of seasoned warriors, thus far Tal has gotten by on his own meager magical talents, but when one day he wakes up to find himself back in his bed of the night before, he is faced with a challenge he must conquer alone. What to expect: This story was born of an attempt to create in world lore reasons for many of the mechanics and tropes of D&D, but you do not need to know of them to enjoy the story. It's a single POV time loop story with slow paced progression fantasy elements. The story is not one of fast-paced power ups and non-stop action, but as it progresses, the action picks up. There is a lot of magic system exploration on a system built to unify the diverse magic of D&D into one cohesive magic system. The setting is an original world with familiar races and monsters but with new unique origins and motivations. The average chapter will be 2-5k words long, most being around 3k but there are a few less than 1k, due to the nature of the story telling device I used. Book 1 is complete. Posting is on hold until I finish book 2. Book 2 progress: The rough draft is done at 141656 words as of 7/9/2022. I need to reread and edit it but Im aiming for resuming chapters in September.
