Zane was proud of the large number of skills he learned. However, he knew that he would lose some of them after choosing his tier one class. That wasn’t important though. What was important was the skills related to using weapons. Specifically, the Basic War Hammer Mastery skill. It was the skill Zane needed for the tier one skill he wanted to learn. Once the Basic War Hammer Mastery skill reached level 50, he could finally begin fusing them.
Of course, the method Zane was using wasn’t the only way for him to obtain a tier one skill. He could spend a thousand class points to obtain a tier one skill. The cost of tier one skills were five times more than tier zero skills. It was an acceptable price, but Zane wouldn’t pay it if he didn’t have to. Zane wouldn’t have to pay a single class point if he unlocked a tier one skill by fusing the nine skills.
Thinking about his current skills and futures skills reminded Zane of some of the tier zero skills he unlocked. These tier zero skills were unrelated to his class and the only way for him to learn them was with class points. Zane unlocked many skills that were at tier zero, but he only considered a few of them useful. Out of all the useful skills only one of them was worth purchasing at his current tier. In fact, he would have purchased the skill much sooner if he wasn’t so focused on obtaining a tier one skill.
You have unlocked the Analyze skill. Would you like to use 200 class points to learn this skill? Y or N
Skill: Analyze
Level:1, 0%
Tier: 0
Effect: Focus on a specific target and use stamina or mana to obtain more information. An increase in the amount of energy used increases the chance to obtain a higher quantity and quality of information.

Cost: 20 stamina or 5 mana minimum
Seeing that he rectified his mistake Zane gave a final look at his status before leaving. The next place Zane was headed to was an area containing violet mana fruit. He had accepted a few gathering quests after deciding he wanted to engage in battle tonight. The first time he accepted a gathering quest he had to fight several mana creatures for the material he had to collect. He experienced the same thing for most of the quest he accepted for tonight.an the area he was heading to was the location for his final quest.
Based on his experience with gathering quest Zane thought there was a high chance to encounter mana creatures. He noticed there were two types of gathering quest. One that required him to search for a material and one that led him directly to a material. Every gathering quest that led him directly to the material he needed to collect would have mana creatures guarding the material. He didn’t have to fight any mana creatures when he searched for materials. His current quest led him directly toward the material so he hoped there would be mana creatures to fight.
It didn’t take long for Zane to reach the location the quest sent him toward. When he arrived at the location, Zane noticed the violet mana fruit hanging from a ten-meter-tall tree. Zane saw a few ravens sitting on the branches of the tree. He was happy to see his observation about gathering quest was correct. After taking a quick look around the area his happiness increased.
The tree with the violet mana fruit was surrounded by several trees. On the branches of the surrounding trees Zane could make out some Ravens. The more mana creatures Zane was able to fight the happier he would be. Wanting to get a better understanding of the quality and quantity of enemies he would have to face, Zane used Warrior Awareness.
Skill: Warrior Awareness
Level: 35, 43%
Tier: 0
Effect: Increases sensitivity to movement, mana and danger based on the perception stat.
Cost: 1 mana per second
One second after Zane activated his skill, he was able to sense forty unique auras. A few seconds later he was able to sense an aura more powerful than the initial forty he sensed. It was a tier one mana creature. Judging from its aura Zane knew he would be able to fight it on his own. The problem was the forty mana creatures that he would have to fight with it. The battle would be a lot more difficult, but that was exactly what Zane wanted.
Zane took out a war hammer that was close to two meters long and had a large head. It would be difficult to hit the ravens with his war hammer but that didn’t deter Zane. Instead, he was excited about the challenge. Zane stepped forward to face the ravens with a smile on his face.
Using identify Zane was able to confirm what he sensed from the warrior awareness skill. The ravens he could see were at level forty-two and forty-three. The ravens on tree in the center began to sound the alarm as Zane approached. It wasn’t long before a sea of black feathers was rotating menacingly above Zane’s head. Expecting to be attacked from multiple directions, Zane kept Warrior Awareness active. Zane griped his weapon, widened his stance, and waited.
Fast. That was the only word Zane needed to describe the ravens’ movements. One moment the ravens were above the next moment they were only a few meters away from him. Zane remained calm. He didn’t rush to attack and instead focused on dodging. It was important to get used to the attack patterns of the ravens early in the fight so he would take less damage later.

One step forward, one step to the side and one step back. Zane used simple movements to dodge the majority of the ravens attacking him. The few ravens that attacked him were unable to make it past his defense and wound him. However, Zane did feel a strong impact when a raven crashed into him.
A few moments later Zane grasped the movements of the ravens and it was time to attack. Seeing a raven closing in on him, Zane lifted his war hammer with both hands and swung. The head of his hammer connected with the raven’s body and sent it flying but Zane wasn’t happy. Instead, he was frowning as he watched the raven shake of his attack after a short pause and continue flying.
Less than a second before he hit the raven Zane saw it release a dark radiance from its body. He knew the radiance was a defensive measure and the other ravens probably had that ability. The fight would last a lot longer if all the ravens were able to dodge and defend against his attacks. Plus, Zane still hadn’t seen the tier one raven attack. Wanting to gain more information, Zane used the Analyze skill.
Adult Raven Lvl 42
Health: 95%
Stamina: 90%
Mana: 85%
Zane’s investigation brought back positive result. It looked like the raven used a lot of mana to defend against his attack. A few normal attacks would quickly drain the raven of its mana and leave it open to a direct attack. Also, Zane saw that his attacks still did damage even if the raven used mana to defend itself. Now all he had to do was keep hitting the same raven.
After a few minutes of fighting, Zane managed to kill seven ravens and was starting to feel tired. He was spending ten points of mana every time he used Analyze. The skill let him know which ravens were lacking mana and he would use Smash to land a killing blow. Zane tried to only rely on his perception to determine the mana levels of the ravens, but he quickly gave up. It took most of his focus to avoid the ravens when they dived down to attack him. The moment he tried to place his focus on an individual raven’s mana level he began to receive multiple impacts.
With the defense from Zane’s training gear one impact would equal an insignificant loss of health. Several impacts over a period of time would cause a significant loss of health. Zane wasn’t too worried about the loss of health stamina or mana though. He was close to leveling up and the perfect target was about to approach him.
Skill Combo. Smash. Crushing blow. A raven dived downed to attack Zane from, but he was already aware of it. As soon as it began to move Zane used Analyze and made preparations to attack. The raven raced toward Zane and his hammer raced toward its head. He heard a crunch and saw the raven slam into the ground. A second later Zane received a system message.
Congratulations! You have reached level forty-three.
Energy surged through Zane and he could he feel the bruises he accumulated from the ravens’ repeated impacts start to fade. But that wasn’t all he experienced. Zane felt his mind and body synchronize. The ravens became easier to track, he used less energy to dodge the ravens and his attacks were much faster. A few of his attacks managed to hit the ravens before they could activate release their dark light.
Truthfully, the battle wasn’t that dangerous for Zane. If he used his warrior steps skill, he would be able to move as fast or faster than the ravens. Dodging, attacking and killing the ravens would be much easier. However, it would be a lot less challenging as well.
In his heightened state Zane was landing more attacks and less raven were flying around. He leveled up again after killing twelve more ravens. Suddenly, Zane heard a loud screech echo through the trees. He knew it was the tier one raven. Before he could make any preparations, the raven attacked. Zane’s eyes widened in alarm and tried to roll to the side. Unfortunately, he was too slow. The tier one raven managed to dig its claws into his side and Zane dropped to the ground in pain.
The ravens saw an opportunity and took it. All of them swarmed toward him while he was down. While he laid on the ground Zane used War Cry and roared at the ravens. He stood up as he watched ravens crash into the ground. He made no attempt to heal his wound. He deserved it for allowing himself to relax while fighting the other ravens and he would level up again soon. Taking a deep breath Zane lifted his hammer and prepared to continue the fight.
The ravens shook of the effects of Zane’s skill and soared into the air. The battle resumed with the tier one raven launching attack. Alert and ready for its high-speed attack Zane was able to cleanly dodge. However, he wasn’t able to counterattack. The weaker ravens dived down after the tier one raven attacked and Zane was able to easily dodge and counterattack. This process repeated itself until Zane leveled up. Zane knew it was time to deal with the tier one raven when he felt energy surge through him and his wound start to close.
Zane felt the tier one raven approaching him, but he didn’t dodge. This time he used Final Barrier to receive its attack. The raven smacked into the barrier and took away a third of the barrier’s energy. Before it could recover Zane swung his hammer and sent it crashing to the ground. Pressing his advantage Zane used a combo attack. Skill Combo. Smash. Crushing Blow. He felt his attack slow down as it approached the raven’s body, but it still connected. The raven cried out and the aura around it dimmed. Zane knew he had destroyed its source field and prepared to deliver the final attack.
As Zane swung his hammer down, one of the weaker ravens flew in between him and the tier one raven. Zane tried to adjust his weapon, but the raven was determined to receive Zane’s combo attack. It rushed toward the head of his hammer and Zane was sent flying into the distance. Before Zane could recover from the shocking event, he received five impacts that sent him stumbling backward.
When Zane began attacking the tier one raven, he ignored the He was willing to receive a few attacks from them if it meant he could kill the tier one raven. However, he never expected one of the weaker ravens to throw away its life to protect the tier one raven. The tier one raven used the distraction provided by the five remaining weaker ravens to fly into the air. Although Zane was surprised by their actions, it wouldn’t change the final outcome of the battle. His victory was certain.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
