《Immortal System: Era of Adventure》Chapter 60: Upgrade!! (2)

Once the pain from his upgrade disappeared, Zane immediately let out a sigh of relief and fell onto his back. What followed was a wave of pleasure that spread throughout his entire body. With his eyes closed, Zane enjoyed the pleasant sensation and tried to sense the changes in his body.
The pleasure came from his body undergoing the final stages of his tempering. His body was rapidly increasing in strength, and it didn’t require any part of his body to be damaged like before. Zane was enjoying the pleasant sensation that came from the increase in strength, but he noticed the energy within himself chaotically strengthened his body. Some places of his body received more energy while others received less.
Focusing his mind, Zane controlled the energy within him and made sure it reached each part of his body equally. The moment the energy was evenly divided, Zane felt a more intense wave of pleasure wash over him. Unknowingly, Zane let out a moan and lost focus on the energy within himself. However, it didn’t cause Zane any harm. Once he divided the energy it followed the route, he had set without any further input from him.
A few minutes passed and the pleasure Zane felt from his body started to rapidly decrease. It took a few second for Zane to break away from the pleasure he felt and refocus his mind. Once he did, he immediately closed his eyes and sensed the changes in his body. A smile appeared on Zane’s face when he felt how much stronger his body was.
Upgrading his race didn’t increase Zane’s stats, but it did increase the effectiveness of his stats. Zane could now perform better than a person with the Human Ⅱ race in all areas. He could learn faster, deal more damage, take more damage and have a stronger influence among humans.
Sadly, the system didn’t tell Zane how the changes in his race effected his stats. Zane believed this was what Teacher meant when she said the system was stingy. Instead of using its energy to help Zane figure out how his race upgrade improved his strength, it would let Zane figure it out himself. Zane agreed with Teacher’s judgment of the system, but he didn’t remain focused on the stinginess of the system for too long. He wanted to test out the increase in his strength. He excitedly leapt to his feet and immediately crashed face first into the ground.
“I’m such an idiot,” Zane groaned out in pain.
Pain signals burst from Zane entire body when he fell onto the ground. Zane was unable to control his body because he had recently upgraded his race. This was something he knew already, but he forgot about because he was too excited about upgrading his race. This led to him using too much strength to stand up and falling on his face.
Falling on his face in the outside world and the unique space normally wouldn’t make him feel a lot of pain. However, his recent upgrade caused his body to be extremely sensitive. His body sent far stronger pain signals then he would normally experience. Laying on the floor he tried to adapt to the changes in his body. However, his senses immediately decided to start tormenting him.

Light from the multicolored circle became blinding as Zane tried to concentrate. He quickly shifted his head to the side as he tried to instinctively avoid the light. As his head moved it brushed pass the multicolored floor. Pain immediately burst forth through his mind. It felt like he had scraped off a layer of skin from his head and someone had hit him with a war hammer.
Using slow deep breaths, Zane felt his body start to calm down. Slowly and gently, he got up on his hands and knees. With his hands in front of him Zane noticed that he wasn’t feeling any pain when it touched the multicolored floor. It took less than a second for him to realize this was because his hand was covered by his training gloves.
That’s interesting, Zane thought to himself. It seems like my gear is capable of protecting me from the senses. I also don’t feel any pain when it interacts with my body. Strange. My gear should be in the real world, but it's with me here in this unique space. It’s probably because my training gear is soul bound to me. Or maybe it’s a special effect Teacher Isabelle added to it. I wonder how Teacher did that. Did she find a specialist, or does she have a class that is capable of crafting magical items? I wonder if Jason will choose a class that can make magical items.
Zane’s mind became chaotic due to the changes brought by his race upgrade. His mind took on unpredictable and disorderly paths of thought. He didn’t regain his focus until after a few minutes. Once he did, he realized his mistake and shook his head in disbelief.
Regret was the second emotion Zane felt after pain. Shaking his head had cause another wave of pain to sweep through his mind. Zane waited for the pain to subside before beginning to climb to his feet. He moved very slowly so he didn’t cause himself anymore pain. As he moved the increase in perception made him extremely aware of all his muscles.
Eventually Zane was able to stand up straight on his own two feet. He endured the pain from the points of light in the darkness as he slowly moved his body. He took slow, exaggerated steps as he moved his arms and legs. By doing this he was able to get a better sense for the changes in his body and improve his control.
Adjusting to the changes brought from his upgrade was not a quick process. In fact, it took Zane several hours before he felt that he could control his body with the same level of skill as before. Using up so much time wasn’t a problem because time flowed ten times faster in the unique space compared to the outside world.
Being able to compress hours of adjustment into a single hour was another reason why it was beneficial for Zane to upgrade his race in the unique space he was in. In addition to saving time, the mana in the unique space made adjusting to the changes brought by his race upgrade easier. If Zane was to upgrade his race in the outside world he wouldn’t be surprised if it took him much longer.

Time was on Zane side for now, but it wouldn’t be forever. Everyone was only allowed ten hours to complete their upgrade to the next tier. Zane had already used more than half of his time. He still had more than enough time left to complete his upgrade, but he didn’t want to waste all his time reaching the next tier. Therefore, it was best that he upgraded his class and tier as soon as possible.
Unlike when Zane first selected his class, there were no versions of himself standing around. Looking around he saw nobody to walk up to, but he wasn’t worried. The moment he arrived in the unique space he instinctively knew what he needed to do to upgrade his class.
Kneeling down, Zane placed his hand on the multicolored circle and focused on his desire to upgrade his class. The system responded to his desire and eight figure rose from the multicolored circle. The moment the figure formed a specific image, Zane knew what class each figure represented.
Immediately, Zane discarded five of the options presented to him. He turned his attention to the final three. Zane hesitated for a few seconds before deciding on which of the three classes to look at first, In the end, he decided to start with the combat expert class. The moment Zane walked up to the combat master class it started speaking before Zane could look at the description.
“What are you doing here?” The combat expert version of Zane curtly asked.
“I’m here to look at the combat expert class.” Zane answered.
“Why?” The combat expert said in an annoyed tone.
“I wanted to compare the abilities of the combat expert class to the-”
“Scram.”
“What? But I-”
“Scram!”
The combat expert closed his eyes and left Zane standing there stunned. Zane somewhat understood the combat expert version of himself would treat him so rudely. His goal was to become a powerful weapon master and become stronger than all combat masters. Therefore, it didn’t make sense for him to consider combat expert as a potential class.
Zane agreed with that form of thinking, and he had no intentions of becoming a combat expert. However, he could still benefit from looking at the abilities of a combat master and comparing them to his own. The combat expert version of himself didn’t need to show such a strong reaction to Zane taking a simple look. Zane felt a little annoyed and considered going against the combat expert’s commands, but he decided not to in the end. The combat expert version of himself existed to help him. Since it told him to leave then he should leave.
The next class Zane approached was the weapon expert class. Zane saw a version of him that had equipped with multiple weapons. Swords, axes, war hammers, shields and countless other weapons were on Zane’s body or placed somewhere in the surroundings. The moment Zane walked up the weapon expert version of himself opened his eyes and gave Zane a smirk.
“As I expected. You came here in the end.”
“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting to look at the description of a class.”
“I guess I should applaud you. Last time you unnecessarily looked at five classes and this time you only looked at two. Have a good look. I’m sure it won’t change the decision you already made in your heart.”
Class: Weapon Expert
Description: An expert skilled in the usage of weapons. This class requires an individual to study, explore and improve their understanding of weapons. The more an individual understands weapons the stronger they become.
Rewards: 50 CP, +2 Str, +4 Dex, +2 End, +2 Int, +1 to all other stats and +4 free stat points
The weapon expert version of Zane was correct. Looking at the description for the weapon expert class had no effect on what his future class would be. Zane turned and started walking toward the third class. This class immediately grabbed his attention the moment it appeared, and it was the one he favored the most.
A few steps and Zane walked in front of another version of himself. He was sitting down with his legs crossed, palms held open in front of him and his eyes closed. Anyone else would see a person meditating, but Zane saw something different. He saw a sheathed sword, a spear at rest, a coiled whip and a slumbering war hammer.
Looking at the seated version of himself Zane knew he would choose this class. There was no need to look at the descriptions or rewards. This would be his future class. This would be his path.
Excitement flowed through Zane when the seated version of himself opened his eyes. A sword became unsheathed, a spear went into motion, a whip uncoiled, and a war hammer awoke. Zane and the seated version of himself stared at each other for a few seconds before the seated version spoke.
“The system requires me to let you know that there are advantages and disadvantages that come with creating a new class.”
Zane raised his palm toward the seated version of himself in response. The seated version smiled and stood up to connect his palm to Zane’s. Like when Zane received his first class energy started to rush into his body. The feeling was pleasant in the beginning, but Zane began to feel stuffed as time passed. Eventually, no more energy entered his body, However, it didn’t change the fact that Zane’s body felt like it was about to burst.
The weight of your existence has reached the requirement necessary to upgrade to the first tier. The upgrade will begin now. Please prepare yourself.
