《Creation - The Path of a God》Chapter 98 (Book 2 - Zombie World)

Helen continued to look anxiously at Abigail, who they had propped up against a nearby wall. Unfortunately, Abigail had yet to wake up after they entered into the secured area of the building.
"I have no idea why your friend has yet to gain consciousness," Katya got up, after looking over Abigail.
"What do we do?" Sheila asked, looking at everyone.
Timothy looked at Abigail's comatose body, his expression grim. The thoughts going through his mind a mystery to the group. He turned his head to make eye contact with Helen. "We're going to have to bring her with us, as is. I don't know whether the security will keep out that thing, or not, and don't particularly want to find out."
Helen wanted to argue with Timothy's words, not liking the idea of not knowing what was wrong with Abigail's body. The thought of Abigail having some kind of internal injury went through her mind, though she didn't know what they could do even if they learned this was the case. She mutely nodded her head. Even if she was worried about Abigail, Timothy was right about needing to reach a safe place.
"Are there any supplies to help secure her to my back?" Helen asked.
"There are some sleeping quarters inside this area, where we could take some sheets and create some kind of makeshift carrying straps." Timothy pointed further down the hallway they were in. "But, I think it would be better for me to carry Abigail."
"No. She's my friend. I'm going to be the one to make sure she's safe." Helen answered defensively, stepping closer to Abigail's body and putting herself between Timothy and her injured friend.
Timothy's eyes softened at Helen's words. He understood why Helen was acting in such a way towards him, saying, "Helen. Abigail is also my friend. I wouldn't do anything to put her in danger, I hope you understand that."
"I don't know anything about anything related to you!" She snapped at him. "After coming to this place, it feels like none of us ever knew you!"

Hearing Helen's harsh words, Timothy's eyes widened. It quickly turned to anger. "I brought you guys into this place because it was better than the alternative! Did you forget about those things stalking us in the forest?! It's not like I wanted to hide things from you guys, but what was I supposed to say?!" His chest rose and fell as he became heated, angered by Helen's accusations.
Aside from Katya, who looked apathetic, the rest of the group looked confused about what to think. Rodger looked to be the only who felt like he forgave Timothy for the deception, regardless of whether it was the right thing or not.
Taking in a deep breath to calm himself down, Timothy said, "I understand you don't trust me. But here's a question. What are you going to do if you get tired carrying her around? What if you need to move quickly?"
Helen clenched her teeth in anger, knowing what Timothy was implying. Deep down she knew he was right. Even if she wanted to keep Abigail safe, the problem was due to sheer strength and body size. She looked away from Timothy, her eyes resting on her friend. "You swear you won't let anything happen to her?"
"I do." His voice was solemn.
Not able to voice the words, Helen simply nodded her consent.
Timothy walked over to where Abigail was on the floor, and gently put her over his shoulders. Helen felt herself moving to her friend, arms slightly raised as she worried Timothy was going to drop Abigail.
"I got her." Timothy looked at Helen, fireman carrying Abigail's body. Walking forward down the hallway, Timothy said, "I want to quickly head to the resting area. We need to reach those portals quickly."
As they all followed after Timothy, they soon saw the hallway open up to a larger and opened room. There was a raised platform with several monitors and computers, looking to be some kind of control area. Several hallways surrounded the desk, including the one they just exited from.

"This is the main hub of this portion of the building. Usually, the desk would be manned by half a dozen security personnel, but..." He left the obvious conclusion unsaid. "Each of these tunnels leads to a different part of the secured facility."
"Holy crap. How big is this place?" Michelle wondered as she looked around.
"Let's say it's big." Timothy moved towards one of the paths away from the control area. "There's a small resting place for the security people, so we should find some supplies."
"I'm getting a better picture of why I was sent here," Katya spoke up as she went over to the control desk.
Timothy looked sharply at Katya, hearing her words.
"I see why they wanted to keep this place so secure. The question is why you'd know about this place and have access." She grinned at him.
Snarling, Timothy said, "This is not the time, Katya. I would think you'd realize your mission is no longer relevant, considering your bosses are, likely, all dead."
Acting depressed, Katya slumped her shoulders. "I guess you're right. Who knows if this information is even useful." Then her face looked mischievous. "But you never know how things turn out. Even without having to see the full picture, I already learned a lot."
Not wanting to engage with the woman, Timothy kept moving.
Helen paid attention to the two, feeling her suspicions towards both of them increase. It was obvious why it felt like Katya couldn't be trusted, but her words towards Timothy made things complicated. "He's still not telling us everything," She thought to herself.
Following Timothy, she watched as he approached an equally secure door like the one they had just entered to get into this section. Making sure to not drop Abigail, Timothy moved his body to allow him to reach the security panel.
Just as before, the panel turned varying colors before confirming his identity.
Moving slightly to the side to expose the door handle, Timothy said, "I'm going to need some help with this, here."
Startled from her thoughts, Helen rushed to help Timothy open the door. Turning the handle and pulling the door open, she heard a hiss of air.
Looking inside, she was surprised to see the lights were still on and even more to see there was a row of doors. As they entered, it was clear by the signs next to the doors that this was similar to an apartment complex. Judging by the spacing between each door, Helen judged the rooms were not small.
"Considering the security personnel is expected to live inside of this area for long periods, they get to stay in small looking apartments," Timothy explained to her and the group.
As Timothy set Abigail down and rested her against the hallway wall, he moved his hand to the sign next to the door. There was a click and Timothy casually opened up the door to the first apartment.
Helen looked back at her friends, sharing a similar look of confusion as everyone else.
Liam looked at Helen saying, "How is he able to just open up all these doors?"
A sound of objects crashing to the floor surprised them. Helen ran towards the opened door to see a small kitchen area and beyond to be a living area. Running past the kitchen and into the living area, Helen saw two women in form-fitting outfits and wearing gas masks point weapons at Timothy, who was laying on the floor with his hands in front.
"Who the hell are you people and how did you get inside of this place!" The taller of the two women demanded.
