《The Bartender at the End of the Universe》Ch 70: Overlooking the Problem

Tuesday. Why did it always feel like a Tuesday here? Ted always thought that Tuesday was strange. It was a weird lull in the week, a day that never really fit in. It was early in the weekday, but not the hated end of the weekend like Monday was. It wasn't quite the middle of the week like Wednesday, or the day before Friday like Thursday is. Nor was it the celebrated Friday as the herald of the weekend, or like Saturday which was a day of partying and relaxation mixed. Sunday was another odd day, too close to Monday to truly be a day to rest or celebrate, but still free. No, Tuesday was a strange day that pushed no strong feelings one way or the other. It simply existed.
Ted didn't even remember which one he picked as the winner. He just remembered them all seeming frustrated with his decision. Although, they all abided by it. While they continued to bicker and throw witty comments at one another, Ted drifted to the silence of the kitchen. He still felt off. Something about Lulu being up here when he was just talking to Pockets downstairs made things worse somehow.
Was his mind fracturing? Maybe this whole thing was just an illusion in his mind. Maybe Diante had tried to save him from that car. Maybe this was all his brain's final throes of life. Maybe he had slipped into a coma, and this was how he was coping with his fight to survive. Although he didn't find that all too believable.
So, do you think this will work? Death asked as he dragged a barrel of water behind him. Like actually work.
"I mean, we'll have all of the ingredients put together." Og'drimun shrugged as he escorted his giant mouthed homunculus as it held four barrels of water in its gaping maw. "So, why wouldn't it work?"

I mean, the mist kind of hurts the feel, doesn't it? Like, wouldn't most people cancel this kind of thing because of weather like this? Death pointed out.
"I mean...hmm..." Og'drimun raised a hand to object, but then paused and tapped his chin. Then he cried out in anger and crossed his arms over his chest and poured. "Dang it! You're right. This ruins everything."
Og'drimun started to grumble angrily under his breath.
Death shrugged. I mean, I totally think we should still set things up, but this fog business should be worked on. Like man, it's already bumming me put just thinking about it.
"Yeah! We won't really be able to see anyone well like this. And that's definitely the whole point!" Og'drimun bemoaned.
I thought the point was the fun adventures we'll have? Like songs and bonfires and junk? Death brought up. We were gonna bring Sentenza's guitar, remember?
"Do you know anyone who can play the guitar here?" The little demon queried.
Uhh....
"That's what I thought." Og'drimun shook his head. "Just leave the big planning to me. Trust me, you'll love it in the end. It is going to be a ton of fun...just if we can get rid of this blasted fog!"
Maybe if we create like a huge explosion that can blow everything away? Death let go of the barrel of water for a moment to pantomime a big explosion. Or we could like put up a giant wall. No, like four huge walls with a bouncer around the only door in. Then they can keep any riffraff like the fog out, and let cool people like us in.
"I don't think that's how that works, but let's not just throw that out." Og'drimun reached down into a hidden fleshy pocket on his hip. He pulled out a small bullet with intricate arcane markings all over it. A mischievous smirk spread on his face as he added. "But, once I think of something, we'll definitely have the raw power we'll need to go through with it."

The King is Back
Life in the forest is all that the unnamed boy has known for all his life. After being abandoned by his parents years ago, his only salvation is the martial art and books that his father left him. One day, after encountering an unforeseen incident, the boy learns of his true lineage in a secret kingdom which is more technologically advanced than the rest of the world. Important Note: This is going to be an evolving story as I write. I am sure many of you will have plenty of criticisms for the earliest/earlier chapters and some of them are justified but I intend to continuously improve as I progress through the story. I hope you stick with me until then. Features: Technology Gap, Mechs in a Fantasy World, Conspiracies and Mysteries, Epic Adventures! Note: Mechs will be featured but it is NOT the main thing about this story. There will be extended periods of time of a more grounded story rather than mech warfare. But worry not, there will also be times of full-on glorious mech battles so keep reading! Cover art from an artwork done by Adam Burn. I do not own any of the copyrights of the image.
