《MY Life In The Multiverse》Chapter 4: Unbelievable meeting

'Did something happen while I was outside? did Yuki go against my warning and ended up stealing again?' The mind of Atsushi Bushida, the landlord of the building, and the father of Shiki, the girl that just kicked Yuki out of the building was filled with all kinds of possibilities as to what resulted in his resident Sakuragi thanking him for kicking out that 'trash'...
The other resident was clearly oblivious to Atsushi's change of mood as he let out a small chuckle clearly glad about the turn of events and said "That's right, not long-ago Shiki-chan kicked that little thief out of the building. I believe she's cleaning that stinky apartment right now. Ah, what a relief, I can finally sleep in peace again…"
'What's that girl doing?' Kazuma's anger suddenly ignited because of his daughter's impulsiveness "I see, I will go check on her, she might need a hand"
The resident called Sakuragi finally noticed that his landlord wasn't in the same merry mood he was in and was startled at Atsushi's anger so he quickly stepped out of his way knowing very clearly that's it's better to not be around a Bushida when they are angry and simply thought with a sigh 'this father and daughter duo are cast from the same iron...'
Shiki's father quickly arrived at Yuki's previous apartment and when he didn't find her excited about what she did like he expected her to be, but instead downhearted, his anger subsided a little and he asked her "Why did you do this?"
Shiki was startled at first by her father's sound coming from behind her and waking her from her trance but then she guiltily replied "He was affecting the reputation you worked hard to build, so I couldn't take it anymore…"
Her voice at the end was almost inaudible making her look very pitiful right now…But her father didn't relent and scolded her "Didn't I specifically tell not to act impulsively?"
Shiki's face turned red and her eyes started to tear up as she pitifully looked at her father and said "Sorry..."
Seeing his daughter like this, Atsushi's heart softened a little, and decided to ask her "So, why were you spacing out and didn't seem happy about your achievement? And did Yuki say anything before he left"
Hearing her doubts getting exposed, Shiki started shifting her eyes nervously, but after her father glared at her, she finally told him about the weirdness Yuki displayed and the words he said before he left
Her father let out another sigh of regret 'I really tried to help you kid, hopefully you will do fine on your own and they don't blame me…'
As for who would blame this man, that's a story for the future to tell…

Meanwhile, after Yuki left the building, He was hit by a very strong feeling of helplessness at the thought of having nowhere to go in this new world he suddenly ended up in ...

"This sucks, where am I supposed to go now, I don't even have money to pay for food or to go treat my body, not to mention to rent an apartment…"
However, Just as he was muttering his doubts and hopelessness… out of nowhere, a Quest notification appeared in front of his eyes 'did the system feel my desperation or what, this timing is perfect' Yuki thought as his heart lightened up a little and he excitedly read through the notification that appeared in front of him
[Quest: Settle down]
[Quest Description: It's disgraceful for the system to have a host that doesn't even have a residence so what better way to motivate him than forcing him to get one]
[Quest Task: Find a residence to settle down before night falls]
[Quest Reward: +0.2 to all attributes and 10000 Yen (100$)]
[Quest punishment: If the quest isn't finished before nightfall, the host can kiss his life goodbye]
[Note: best of luck]
"Fuck you and your luck, does my life really mean so little to you to give me such a puny reward in exchange for losing my life if I don't finish the quest in time?" Yuki yelled in anger causing many people to look at him as if he was a crazy person and some of them even started dragging their children or girlfriends away from him just in case…
'Tch, calm down, calm down, you can do this...LIKE HELL I CAN! Who am I lying to? How in the hell am I supposed to find a residence with no money' Yuki started panicking to the point that he almost got a heart attack right there on the street so he decided to do the only thing he can in this situation...
He started walking in this district that was called Sasazuka while stopping the people passing by from time to time to ask for directions on where he could find a cheap apartment he could rent with a kind-hearted landlord… Of course, the kind-hearted landlord is necessary because he had no money and his appearance scared both the living and the dead away from him so not any place would be willing to accept someone like him…
However, his lucky star probably died a long time ago and in its place, there was now a black hole that's sucking the life away from him slowly… And to add insult to injury, he was slowly running out of time as he kept wondering aimlessly from one place to another and noticed that the sun was almost about to set and he didn't have much time left…
Yet, despite his best efforts and convincing, no landlord he visited would accept a shady ghost looking kid with no money to their building and he was slowly losing hope and started resigning himself to death as he approached the last building he was referred to like he was marching to his death…
"That agent said the landlord of this building is a nice lady who likes helping people in difficult situations like mine, but he couldn't help me get a room there since I don't have any money so I had to talk to her personally... Well anyways hopefully he's right about the nice part and she actually considers helping me…"

After walking for a while and feeling that his frail body was about to collapse into a pile of shit from reaching its limits a long time ago and him forcefully pushing it from one place to another under the threat of death from his dear system…
Yuki finally arrived in front of a two-story building with the nameplate villa rosa Sasazuka hanging in front of its outside wall, This name sounded familiar for some reason to Yuki but he couldn't put his finger on where he heard or seen it before, and this feeling only kept growing the more he observer the building…
"why do I feel like I've seen this place before?" Yuki murmured and he immediately heard a voice coming from the door of the apartment right in front of the entrance of the building…
"Really? Where did you see it before?" From the voice, Yuki couldn't determine the age of the speaker but he knew for sure that it was a woman
'Oh, I'm finding another beauty like Shiki in this building, maybe my shitty luck is finally going to change…'
"I don't know, I can't remember exact-" Yuki started speaking as the door was opening but the words suddenly got stuck in his throat, and they just wouldn't budge no matter how hard he tried as he looked at this monstrosity of a woman that opened the door crushing all of his hopes and expectation about any luck he was going to find here…
"Ara, why did you stop talking?" said this purple-haired round object with a narcissistic look on her face, and Yuki couldn't help but feel his head getting short-circuited for an instant…
'I finally remember now, Sasazuka district, this familiar building, and this …. Thing that's speaking to me and like to help people in difficult situations… these are from the anime Hataraku Maou-sama!'
Yuki just realized that his perception of the world was about to change way more than he could have expected as he started seeing what was waiting for him in his 'dream world'…
"H-Hi there, are you the landlord of this building Shiba-san?" Yuki asked this moving wrecking ball that was dressed In purple from her head to toe looking like a female pimp wanting to confirm her identity as already received her name from the agent that directed him to here...
His voice carried a hint of nervousness, something that stemmed from his desire of wanting to get the hell out of this place as soon as possible as he knew that the residents of this building are anything but normal, but he could see that the sun was already setting down and he knew that he won't have any more chances in finding another place to rent so either this or death… and he was seriously considering the sweet release of death at this moment...
"That's right young man, I'm Shiba Miki, Miki is written with the characters for "beautiful" and "shining", oh, but you can just call me Miki-T"
She ended her introduction with a smirk that gave Yuki goosebumps and he almost threw up as he thought 'The only thing bigger than you is your ego you pig, still I need her help so I can't mess this up'
"hahaha, nice to meet you Miki-T, what a beautiful name, just like its o-o-o-owner" Yuki felt like his heart was going to stop while blurting those words but he had no choice as he knew the best way to get on the good side of a narcissist is to praise them, no matter how hard it is… but this sacrifice was necessary for his future survival!
For some reason, He remembered the description on the quest that said what better motivation than death itself, and he found it true indeed as he wouldn't lower himself like this if not for that cruel punishment, but he felt like he was going to choose death soon if this conversation doesn't end quickly.
Miki's large face was filled with a joker-like smile after hearing Yuki's praise of her and her name which he guessed is her pleased smile "Oh, what a sensible young man, you know how to appreciate true beauty. So, what do you want?"
I started telling her about my situation and how I can't pay her right away...
"… and this is why I hope you can let me sta-" However Miki suddenly looked deeply at my ghost-like appearance and sunken eyes, as well as my shaking legs from pushing my weak body too much appearing like I would die if a strong gust of wind hit me then said
"You can stay here, it's already the 25th of march so I will turn a blind eye for now for this month's payment, but by the end of next month you have to start paying properly"
Yuki was surprised a little at how kind this woman truly was so he nodded with a serious face lacking any of his previous contempt and decided to stop judging her by her appearance as he said "I will make sure to repay this debt"
"Sure sure, here's the key to room 202, it's the second one upstairs, you might meet some weird people in room 201 but they are nice so don't worry about them" she said with a weird smile before she threw me the key to room 202 which I barely caught in my excitement before she turned around and rolled back to her apartment...

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
